Not exactly. Who Shiki is most involved in depends on what storyline you are playing; this game is part of a spinoff series from a visual novel. Shiki was the protagonist, Arc, Ciel, Akiha, Kohaku, and Hisui were the heroines whose story routes you could follow; though they are grouped into "Near Side" and "Far Side" as Arc and Ciel follow one core premise (exploring the supernatural world of vampires, demons, and such hiding in plain sight) while the other three mostly are part of an only tangentially related direction (the secrets being hidden within the Tohno family and its estate). Aoko is a tertiary character to Tsukihime, she very briefly meets with Shiki as part of his backstory and gave him his enchanted glasses; he considers her an important mentor is his life but she's not around or involved in the present time of the story. But she's a very important and powerful person in the broader scheme of the Type Moon "Nasuverse" collection of IP The more recent remake was just the two Near Side stories, with Ciel's being very heavily rewritten to be more distinct from Arc's. The Far Side routes will be coming in their own remake game soon enough, which we are hoping will include Satsuki, the 6th heroine whose scenario never made into the original game for time and design constraints (but the original Melty Blood series is a continuation of it, oddly enough), finally getting her storyline completed and implemented. Not holding my breath on that part, it's been a meme for 20 years now that she'll never get that route for real. I'll just be happy if they add return her to the roster eventually in this game, she was my main when she was added in Melty Blood ReAct, with her bread and butter combos being linking command grabs into command grabs
Melty Blood Type Lumina is a spinoff of the visual novel Tsukihime. The story is broken out into routes depending on what heroine you choose to be with, but the main story is about vampire hunting (near side routes like Arcuied and Ciel) and the mysteries of the Tohno family (far side routes like Akiha, Kohaku, Hisui). Aoko is the teacher figure that saves Shiki after he's recovering in the hospital after an accident and he finds that he can see lines that when cut allow him to kill anything. Shiki is going through kind of a crisis since no one believes that he can see these lines and they think of him as crazy/a trouble maker, but Aoko believes him and gives him his glasses which suppress his vision along with teaching him the importance of choosing how he uses that power.
@@gtf234 sorry to tell you but OG Melty Blood is a continuation of Arc’s Route, the proof of this is when Shiki reminisces his time with Arcueid and when Miyako has a vision set in the future about Shiki The Killer (which is a scenario directly connected to Arc’s Route).
