This really gives off a vibe of two slightly crazy people just fighting to kill each other. Not to survive but just because they want to. It’s like two wild animals wanting to kill each other because it’s natural and not for survival.
The ending of the pre-battle dialogue does kinda fit that interpretation. If my memory serves correctly, it kinda goes like this...
Tohno (Mystic Eyes active, looking calm): “Yeah...eyes like ours...”
Ryōgi (Mystic Eyes active, looking sadistic): *”...should be totally obliterated!”*
@@rhysthereddragon1326 , Honestly it's sad. To see such great power that could be used to aid humanity in giving the edge it needs to fight off against the supernatural(vampires, monsters, the spirit of the world apparently, etc.)
To just it being wasted by conflict that is caused by the simple urge to kill each other just because you both have the same abilities.
But that's just how it goes I guess.

@@misterfox7210 actually no. U made a great observation. Them using their eyes only to kill each other rather than to do good symbolizes the selfishness of human kind. Especially cuz these 2 aren’t some kind of special prophetic hero protagonists. Throughout both of their stories, they used the eyes of death perception as a way to stop their lives and their friends from being taken from them. They never agreed to be heroes of mankind. The closest thing to that is ryougi Working under touko. But even then it was for money, another selfish motivation. It portrays the idea that those who posses a special kind of power typically will use it for their gain/desires as well as those close to them, as in reality that’s truly what matters to regular people. And that’s what the tohno and ryougi represent. They are regular people that were thrown into unreal situations, and these situations can screw with the minds of the average human beings, turning them into psychotic beasts. They aren’t heroes, they are people. Sorry if this was too long to read. I am currently procrastinating sleep and had a strange desire to overanalyze a fictional conflict between two killers

I'll never understand why almost all of tohno sprites got his right hand almost touching his face, like its fine for some sprites but for this one specifically it just looks way too awkward
i think it's because sometimes his mystic eyes actually overpowers his glasses so for this shot maybe its meant to show that?
It's just a modified version of another sprite of his where he's pushing up his glasses.

He couldn't see the death, but the life of things, and as we know inanimate objects aren't alive, but can be destroyed, which explain the difference between Shiki and SHIKI
