This was a really fun show. I respect that Mark did not give too much away in his review. Its one of those shows where the less you know about it, the more enjoyment you get out of it.

Soderbergh. And he has said very clearly in numerous press reports that he intends to retire. Whether he sticks to it or not, who knows? But that's what he said.

In the clip, I could relate to her description of depression. I am very interested in the film, only because its narrative seems genuine.

Unrelated question for Mr. Kermode. While I do agree to the genius of "The Exorcist" (Silence of the Lambs being a very close second IMHO), is a remake in our future whether we like it or not? If so, how can they match the lasting affects of the movie?

The film relies on the reality of drug abuse of how it affects the brain, behaviour, relationships & is A film that director Steven Soderbergh delivers those themes brilliantly. (85%) (4/5 stars) (positive)

Saw this film last night after my girlfriend suggested it, I had no prior expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. Jude Law and Rooney Mara I thought were especially good too.

I was just in awe of this. I knew it got very positive reviews and I didn't really have any expectations but the performances all around were terrific, especially Rooney Mara under her depression. The biggest part, however was the series of twists and twists and twists and twists and twists which all blew my mind. One crucial part, and the only real part I could complain about was the fact that two or three of the twists were over the top and made me shrug. 9/10, incredible, two thumbs up, etc.

There was a point where I couldn't stand another Ocean sequel, but I have to admit I've really being enjoying this director's recent films. It certainly "slips into another genre" as Mark says, but the performances were convincing throughout. Perhaps he wants to go out on consistent form, but this film shows he far from spent creatively. Not a classic my any means, but a loss to the film industry definitely if he quit now.

It's basically a suave version of Final Analysis, that 1992 movie with Richard Gere.

That's exactly what I thought back when I first saw the film, which is strange considering how lesser known Final Analysis is compared to Basic Instinct. The plot is mostly identical minus a big action climax or a love affair between the two lead characters.

Sounds like the bee knees. Shock Treatment shades into Shock Corridor.

Did he say Catherine Beta-Jones? LMAO That sounds like a joke on her character's profession.

A very worthwhile and surprising film.
I thought this was a sensational film by Soderbergh, Culpability of the mentally ill vs. perspectives of the non-mentally ill (yes...I saw the ending)
I'll say no more (for the sake of spoilers) least to say it was more than the sum of it's parts.
Soderbergh I salute you. A wonderful piece of cinema. K-Man, I love you as a film critic, but I expected a better review. And I say this as a mental illness sufferer reviewing this film
