My father ordered his 1969 Corvette in 68 and still owns it today. Really cool seeing someone who has owned their Corvette for several years longer. For Glen to also own his car since 1970 makes the story even cooler. 1:37 Dad told me grandpa said the same thing to him. "What good is a car that only seats two?" Mom said spent a lot of time sitting on the console when they needed 3 seats. That clutch story is wild. Lucky it didn't take off a leg. Thanks for filming and uploading this.
My husband just turned 86, we got married 1959, and he started taking his 50 olds apart to learn mechanics. He built a 1927 ford pick up from scratch. In the 60s. He built a 1934 ford that came in pieces and a 1936 for pu truck that came in pieces, in the 1970s. He still has them today.
These dudes are awesome! They are from the same areas that I raced in back in the 80's except we hit all the mall parking lots to pick up a few $. That clutch explosion story.... I'm surprised it ended that well. Thanks for the video
Thank you Mr Smith for your service to our nation. For the last 46 years I've had the honor of working with many of your fellow Vietnam veterans. Those I worked with were either amputees or they came home as paraplegics or quadriplegics. Tremendous folks who've left an indelible mark on me as a human. Great story about the love for two of the best looking Corvettes ever.
The noise that the hood latch and hood made as it released its hold (10:00 mark) is the same sound that my 70 makes. I recognized it immediately. I thought I've had my car for a long time (Oct 1984) but I'll have to live to 84 to reach 54 years of ownership.. GREAT MEMORIES BOYS!!! Thanks for sharing..
So I have a 61 falcon that I think I bought in 79 or 80 for $500 it was a running car. I still have it and I dream one day to be able to give it to one of my grandchildren. I don’t have any yet, but I have two daughters so hopefully one of them brings me a little boy, it still runs and drives just fine
I've owned my 73 Scout for 32 years, he has me beat buy a few years. But my truck still has the same engine in it that I built for it. And I don't baby it much. These guys are cool!!!❤
@heartandhorsepower I'll never sell it. Had a guy hand me a check for 30 gran about 8 years ago before the prices went thru the roof. I said nope, tore the check up. He said everyone has a price, my friend's that were there chuckled, they knew this dude can't be bought.
👍👍 That Awesome! Longest I've ever kept a Corvette is 15 years, had 15,000 miles on that C6 and sold it to get a new 2020 C8. Plumb tickled to death with the C8 😁
Went to Shoneys at Harding Place every Friday and Sat night. Usually went to Donelson and back during the night crusing and looking for girls and a race. 1973, 74 75. Driving a black 1969 Chevelle SS. Those were the days. Friends drove Challengers, Road Runners, Camaro all the muscle cars of the day. Wish we could have those days back. Remember seeing Rabbit Veech there. lol
In 1978 a friend wanted me to buy his 1962 corvette for $2800 , I was getting married and was building a house etc. So I just couldn't swing spending money on a sport car right then. Oh how I wish I had got that Vette...
@@heartandhorsepowerI can definitely relate, prefer a V8 under the hood lol, but the range extender is an interesting concept. That made the difference for me, I've already reserved one. Guess we'll have to see!
As much as I like them, that should not be street legal, with that huge blind spot. A little kid chasing a ball out into the street could get killed for your vanity.

I was in kindergarten when he got the first Vette and in Jr High when his brother got the 2nd Vette! I remember when both these cars were brand new.

Welcome home brother,sandman Vietnam 69
Erik - seen you in the new Scout event videos. What do you think about the new Terra/Traveler EVs?
There are some things I really like. Was hoping for a gas engine, maybe in the future that can happen. What do you think?
