Carole King !!! - Jazzman - Look for the live version with the sax player wearing a blue shirt. That version is up tempo & high energy. Also Jerry Wexler saw Carole on the street and asked her to write a Natural Woman song for Aretha Franklin. In 2015 - Aretha surprised Carole when Carole was being honored At the Kennedy Center. Aretha Franklin You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman Kennedy Center Honors 2015

Toni Stern wrote the lyrics for this one. Carole wrote the words and music for "You've Got Friend". That and "I Feel the Earth Move" and "So Far Away" are excellent, but don't disregard some of Carole's later songs. My favorite Carole King (and Gerry Goffin) songs are "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" (originally recorded by The Shirelles) and "Up on the Roof" (The Drifters). I like Carole's own versions best.

The record Tapestry released in 1971, then spent 40 years as the longest charting album by a female artist until Adel's 21 unseated it in 2017. It sold 7 million copies in the US the first year, 14 million to date. Tapestry spent 15 consecutive weeks at #1 on the US Billboard 200. Must-listen suggestions from Tapestry: Way over Yonder, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, So Far Away, and It's Too Late. This is timeless music at its finest.

Yes, Tapestry is one of the greatest albums - maybe the best from the 70's. Play Natural Woman next.

Almost anything off her Tapestry album. She's got a really unique sound; smooth and groovy no doubt. Glad you enjoyed it.

This album takes me back to my childhood, I remember my mother listening to this album in the kitchen, I was real young, but it takes me back to those days in the early 80's

This is an album to dive into. It's not only a great collection of songs that eras have been built around, but it's an important stake in the ground for what singer-songwriters could really do once they escape domineering male-centric studios and radio.

Carol King wrote the song, Natural Woman, which Aretha Franklin sang. Check out the Kennedy Center Honors (honoring Carol) when Aretha sang for her!

Carol King is well known for being a singer songwriter. I believe she has written songs for many other artists in addition to writing and singing her own songs.
    She also plays piano.

You have a unique expression when you first hear the piano and Carole King's singing.
You start with scrutiny then raise your eyebrows in recognition of the smoove groove, JT.
This is similar watching someone's first bite of pecan pie. Seeing the flavor register by way of the expression on your face, JT.
Carole King is one of the great singer/song writers. The early to mid 1970's was a wonderful era for the singer/song writer, JT!

Carol King was a powerhouse when it came to songwriting and not only for herself, but she also, wrote several big hits for lots of really big artists. One artist that comes to mind is James Taylor, these two performed together a lot. And they released some wonderful songs together. Here's a live performance "James Taylor and Carole King - You've Got A Friend (BBC In Concert, 3/13/71)" both have a wonderful collection to discover if interested. They are both considered folk, R&B, soul music. I've been a big fan of Carol Kings growing up, and I recently saw her in an interview talking about how the logging of trees is affecting climate change. I've always had the upmost respect for her because she's always been willing to be a voice for important topics. I enjoyed your reaction, thanx for sharing

I’m guessing that by now you learned that Carole King wrote “A Natural Woman” which was given to and performed by the Queen, Ms Aretha Franklin. Look up Aretha Franklin , Carole King, Kennedy Center tribute.
Best Aretha performance I’ve ever seen.
I like how (from what I perceived) that at first you seem tired, like exhausted, like you were only doin it cuz you had to. Then 5 seconds into the song you were kinda like, what? You’re a very attentive listener, and I think you notice the right details, the first time. You seem honest enough that I could tell if you were faking liking something. Good ear! I appreciate you. Thx.
