I am an avid listener of 4MBS and his music is sorely missed by me, and surely a lot of other people who have heard this works.

Agh beautiful. I'm a Music performance major, concentration Double Bass - Classical Strings, just wanted to say thank you for such a lovely recording. Also you all have such gorgeous basses heehee. Also, bit of a tech question, is the microphone you're using omnidirectional?
    Thanks.

Hi Elisha. The close mic is an AKG 414XLS in omni - its used just to bring the sound a little closer to the instruments. There is also a stereo pair of cardiod Schoeps CMC64s suspended in the air above them a little further away which is why it sounds like it's in stereo. Our engineer and editor Caleb Miller, paints out the overhead lighting and microphones so that you can't see them in the wide camera - but they are there along with some lights. Thanks for the question.
