I think The Sopranos is the best show of all time. Subscribed.
Thanks for joining the journey! 😍
Second best. “Band of Brothers” is first. But, who couldn’t love “The Sopranos”!
@@numbersasaname2291 Band of brothers is just a miniseries.
*drama show, yes, hands down. Best show would go to The Wire.
@@HighLordBlazeRebornWell what the hell do you think The Wire is!?!?!? That's a drama too!!!!!!!
"She's [Livia] giving me anxiety."
Well buckle up... 🤣
You are one of the few reactors I’ve seen to more easily pick up on the subtle elements and character traits, your reactions are going to be great, sopranos thrives on what’s left unsaid
🤩I'm glad to hear that! It seems like this is a show that gives you a lot of material to analyze, so I'm looking forward to it.
Never i had seen someone mention the second episode ending meaning, the fact that he got his anger towards his mother out with the bartender
Yeah I totally agree with you there!!!!!!!
“By some dude on the internet”😂😂
I heard that with regards to the music the original idea of the creator of the show was to have a different intro song each episode. He wanted the intro song to fit the story and tone of each particular episode. But one of the producers convinced him to use the same song throughout the whole show, because he thought mantaining the same song would make the intro more memorable and instantly recognizable.
...he was right That song is the show and vice versa.
@@wakawaka5131 It would have been very interesting to see what they woud have done with the intro in each episode, though. And it would have been very original. Probably more shows would do that now if The Sopranos had pioneered it.
His mother cracks me up reminds me of my late mum.
"I like mob related violence more than any other violence..." Cristy cold as hell lmaooo
🤣Listen I have my faults, one of them is that I prefer transactional violence in my TV shows😅🤭
always cool to see someone watch this for the first time - enjoy the show!
Thank you!! Frankly, I am so glad I didn’t watch this in the past despite the recommendations. Because now I get to share it with everyone!
I’ve watched The Sopranos a million times. Absolutely love it. The one recommendation I have is to pay close attention to the smallest things. For example (no spoiler). The lady Livia hit with the car. She shows up in like season 3 for a small roll.
oOoOhhh I love this tip-- will definitely pay attention to the details. Thanks, Nicolas!
You’ll be addicted to this show by the end of season 1, maybe 2.
I say end of season 1, for sure!
Good breakdown on individual characters, more thought behind it, and much better than the usual Soprano reaction on RUclips.
I appreciate that! I’m sure some opinions of the characters may shift as the seasons go, so I’m interested to see all that unfold!
Your brother is a legend. Best TV series ever made.
When I was 8 and my sister was 10, we were visiting my grandma's for Christmas. And she wanted us to watch the princess bride and she told us to go put the VHS in the TV in her room. And watch the movie. I thought that my sister had put it in and she thought that I had put it in and we just clicked play and we ended up watching The sopranos. I remember my mom walked in and lost her shit.
It’s so weird watching this again seeing how different stylistically the directing was in the pilot. In particular that this kinda stuff 6:48. They never did it again really. Maybe they thought it was too artistic lol
All the best from Scotland. Looking forward to checking out your reactions. Absolutely love this show. 🏴
Thanks for joining the ride! So far, I'm mind blown with how much I've liked it!
@@CristyReacts Glad to be here! Love your vibe :)
Great insights on the show. I hope you like it so much that you do 2 episodes per week. 😁🤞
This was my all time favorite show, until The Walking Dead. The Soprano's was filmed in many locations I grew up going to. Not to mention I am Sicilian an a teenager when the events simulated in this show were happening in real life everyday in my home town. I remember seeing some of the guys that would later be on the news as missing or in jail. Our neighborhood was the safest place you could live in any where. No one locked their doors and I walked 3 blocks to school at 5 years old and no one needed to worry about us. It was a mob town. Today they are gone and you had better lock your doors and be inside before dark. Gangs run rampant. If you like this you should try The Walking Dead. You will love it.
Just jumped on board and I’m all in.
That you kept in, “Hasidim, but I don’t believe’em” is all I needed to see.
You get the humor, which this show is supremely underrated for.
I’ve been making people laugh with that line for 20 years.
On to ep 4
One thing to keep in mind about episode 1 and 2 of season one is that they were literally filmed 3 years apart from each other. Episode 1 is actually the pilot of the Sopranos which was made before the show had a network. It sat on the shelf for almost three years before HBO picked it up and ordered more episodes at which point they started making episode two and the rest of season one.
For that reason episode 1 can feel a bit out of place next to the entire rest of the show. I personally think it is a great episode but it does not fit with the rest of the season at all. It is much more cartoonish than future episodes and certain things don't make any sense in retrospect, such as Carmela pulling out an AK-47 or Silvio seeming to not be part of the crew but then in the second episode he is basically Tony's right hand man.
The pilot was actually made in a pretty smart way in that it is like short movie. It was done purposely like that so that if the pilot didn't get sold to a network they could just add like 30 minutes of deleted scenes back in and release it as a film.
The comment you made about the tickets was quite funny to me. You said something like "yeah someone probably gave their kneecaps for them but I would still accept them, I didn't do it". I think you will at one point while watching the series realise that nobody in this show is innocent. That mindset is the same thing all the mob wives tell themselves and it might seem fair at first but you do realise that when you benefit from their crimes, even if you have no idea what happened and never will, you are just as guilty as they are. In a way we are all guilty of it in the western world when you think of corporations and governments as the mobsters, poorer countries as the victims and all of us as the silent mob wives that look the other way because we want the new iPhone and don't want to think about the people enslaved in mines in Africa to get the materials to make them or the people making cents on the hour putting them together in horrible factories in China... But the example of accepting gifts and being given a lifestyle by a criminal is an easier way of understanding that sort of thing.
Takes a few episodes.. but it gets really good. Love your chill intelligence. Thank you
Keep in mind Tony isn’t a boss. Jackie Apriel is the mob family boss (the guy with stomach problems). Tony is a captain. Same level as his uncle Junior. Christopher & Brandon aren’t even “made” guys yet. Also know it’s completely against mob code to talk to a therapist. It’s a guaranteed death sentence if found out.
The entire series is about the complexities of Tony managing life with 2 families... his kindred family & his mob family. So you’ll get to know both families very intimately.
Ooh interesting. Thanks for explaining! I'm sure I'll get more familiar with who's boss and who isn't, as the show goes on.
But as even Brendan knows, Tony has become "the guy who really runs things" because of Jackie's cancer. So he has taken on many boss responsibilities, even if he doesn't have the title.
I relation to your question about old people complaining about the same things: around the millennium there was a series of short talks on British TV (BBC) from the Pope’s Librarian. He cited a play he had translated from something like 1500 BC. In the play a man was complaining to his neighbour about his son; he shows no respect, he has no values, too much money and gets things too easily…etc, So the answer to your question is yes older people will always complain about pretty much the same things about their children.
Awesome you already caught up with the character traits, hopefully you react to the whole show Soprano the GOAT TV Show for me together with BB,BCS and The Wire
Thank you! Maybe I'll check those shows out after I'm done with The Sopranos :)
Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Wire, and Mad Men are the Mount Rushmore of modern TV dramas.
What a list! I haven't heard of The Wire. I'm gonna check it out!
You're forgetting the best drama of the last several decades; BattleStar Galactica. 😀

So happy I found you. Love Sopranos reactions. Best show ever. Enjoy. I'll enjoy watching.
Aw that's great! Thank you for joining in -- I'm excited for this joruney
The moment you declared that Olivia was giving you anxiety, was when I realized I made the correct choice in subscribing.😎
Always great to see a new Sopranos reactor! SUBSCRIBED! Just to let you know, the first season is easily the weakest season, if you are just lukewarm on the show after the first season, there is a huge jump up in quality from the second season on.
Yay thanks for the sub! Hey so far I’ve loved it, so I can’t imagine when the quality gets even better. 😊
This is something only Americans can do: having a 'hydration station' while the rest of us sip from a cuppa.
I’m not American I’m just dehydrated 😂
Thanks for doing this. Greatest show in TV history. I look forward to your reactions.
Thank *you* for watching! s1e3 out tomorrow!
It’ll be season 3 before you start to really understand how great it is. Season one just lets you get to know and have a feel for most of the main characters.
Yeah I've heard S1 is an "introductory" season, although so much is already happening!
Silvio plays with Springsteen.
Love this show especially first season
I’ll enjoy watching you go on this ride… because your gonna love it👏👏👏
I'm loving it so far! Thanks for joining me on this ride!
Very enjoyable reaction, subscribed.
Thanks for following along! 😍 Excited to experience the show
Lol Livia is so dramatic
Great analyst-like reaction; still, i think a bit longer on one episode might be needed in future as a lot can happen with a lot of interconnections. Good luck 🤞
Dope reaction. Tony is the real kingpin.
Subscribed for The Sopranos and that beautiful voice. Keep it up.
Thank you so much!!
My favorite show! Hope you enjoy it ❤
You can hear the theme song to Rockford Files" at the "Retirement Community". David Chase's prior TV series.
You've started a loooong deep dark story..."enjoy" :)
Tony's mom's the best. Every scene is entertaining.
I've heard this opinion a couple of times, so I sure hope I warm up to her! :D
GREAT, you just got a new subscriber🙌🙂
Awesome, thank you and welcome aboard!

Lol oh yea,
Subbed
Yay!! Welcome!
I fukken love the sopranos
0:25 "...by some dude on the internet."
ringing endorsement 🙂
Seasons 3 and on are the crop of the show. Tony becomes more of an old school gangster
Lol this show is so damn good. Maybe I'm a sucker for it bc I was Tony's sons age when this came out and I loved the late 90s/early aughts.
The dialogue in this show is incredible
I'm also a sucker for the 90s and early 00s! I often wish I could've been an adult in the 90s haha, everything seemed so simple but there was still enough technology around.
@@CristyReacts Right! It was like the perfect mixture. One foot in the overwhelming information of the Internet, one foot in the physical, more simple world I suppose.
Well anyways, looking forward to seeing more of ya!
Cheers
I grew up in north jersey as this show was being made and it’s always odd to see places I recognize or drive pass all the time.
This is my 3rd favorite show! Behind Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad. A super close top 3 though. Love these three shows so much
I’m super interested in better call Saul
@@CristyReacts It is PHENOMENAL! It’s just like Breaking Bad and The Sopranos in which it starts pretty lowkey and slow but when it gets going, it gets going. It’s a character drama so the plot takes a backseat to character interactions in the early seasons but man is it great. It’s what I consider my favorite show ever. I recommend it to any drama fan
Ok I’ll definitely check it out. Thank you!!
Sopranos....one mans battle between a quest for redemption and a quest to appease his ego
I'm Subscribing because You're reacting to
The Sopranos
Yeeaaahhh best show ever, honestly
15:08 that's gutsy seeing a therapist because if anyone found our he would be killed and the therapist would be killed, that's a big deal in the mob, they don't know what he's told her, and if he's told someone about anything then who else has he told stuff to, also divorce is a big no no in the mob, spouses can't be compelled to testify so no divorce because they assume the spouse knows too much.
I can’t wait until you watch the companion movie that is based around Tony’s dad .. I’m constantly rewatching this and a couple other shows (Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Big Love.. and a few others) and now I’ve moved onto watching others view them for the first time. There’s something in finding joy seeing others get into these older shows.
Plus my stepdad past away a few years ago; Tony’s accent and mannerisms reminds me of him… minus the violent tendencies of course haha
Oooh I’m excited to watch it! I definitely want to add Mad Men and Breaking Bad to the list. Thanks for sharing about your stepdad, by the way:)
Okay okay ima watch it 😅
I recommended, Ri. It’s incredible.
Probably my favorite show of all time. Am I "some dude on the internet" you're talking about? :P Excited to follow you as you discover this amazing series
Haha I didn't wanna name names!🤭🤭🤭
This is a series that's way beyond it's hype.
I mean... I'm only four episodes in, and I agree!
It's kind of funny but I must say for both this show and Breaking Bad I was not all that riveted until the very end of season one and going into season 2, up until that point the shows were obviously good but it didn't click for me initially. However as both got going it ends up being some of the best TV I've ever seen.
Been wanting to dive back into this one after so many years but this is really fascinating watching someone younger and from another era experience this incredible show for the first time. You have quite a rollercoaster ahead of you, so strap in, hahaha.
Oh interestinnngggg-- for me it's different, I get really hooked on the first season of shows, but then when we have to wait months for S2, I quickly lose interest. That's why watching an older show with all the episodes and seasons available to me actually works out perfectly!
You should watch with me! I post a new episode every Wednesday so maybe watch it on Tuesday so it's fresh for you. Or you can just re-live it through me haha😝
Dr. Melfi played the wife in Goodfellas.
Artie is tony's best freind but tony uses artie to collect insurance money on a deliberetly set fire.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Tony doesn't have any anxiety/issues with his job....all his mental health challenges are associated with his clearly dysfunctional family. And that's sort of the allure of Sopranos...he happens to be a mob boss, but the real drama in his life is with his family.
I mean, I’m sure being in the mafia isn’t an easy job, but being Livia’s son surely isn’t a walk in the park 😂😂
If you actually combined the entire first season. I'd just call it the best mob movie
Captain Teebs lol
He's a captain who owns luxury hotels or something!
the greatest show of all time enjoy
Thank you! I'm enjoying it very much :)
Hello 👋🏻. Only a small amount of reactors are doing this show. Awesome
Thank you:) I'm hooked!
Tony doesn't think Carmella won't allow his mother to live with them. It's Tony that won't allow it, but he blames his wife so he doesn't appear as an unloving son.
When does tony blame her for this?
@@stevelafarga3296 When talking to Melfi.
Some actors rom Goodfellas show up in this show.
yes mobsietime btw i recommend The Warriors
I subscribed because you like Birds
Rule number 1! Never accept gifts from the mafia!!! Bucco's wife made the right call.
You’re right, and I referenced this comment in the next episode!!
The creator of the show admits that he had a very complicated relationship with his mother. He put a lot of that in this show.
Oh that makes sense! The negative, bitter mom is a little too real lol
Charles Schwab ova here
I'm way late but you should definitely be rolling your eyes every time Tony's mom speaks. She is the worst! Nancy Marchand, the lady that played her, did a freaking amazing job. She can get under you skin in seconds.
There's no show like this. Many amazing works of art were spawned thanks to the ground broken by the writing and the depiction of the anti hero. This show still remains different than the many shows it inspired as it blends crime drama with *dark* humor you'd find in an edgier comedy yet it still somehow holds onto a sitcom feeling in a good way. Then there is the family drama, and the occasional surrealist/horror elements of a dream sequence that would make David Lynch blush.
This show has it all if you can get past the politically incorrect writing. I personally find it sad that this needs to be said as i believe a show depicting horrible people shouldn't just stop at the horrible deeds they do for their crime family or their own personal gain. But the society we live in today is certainly different than it was when this show was created so as much as I despise "warning" labels, there's one for ya lol
I agree with this completely except I wouldn't even call the writing "politically incorrect" -- the characters say and do politically incorrect things, but I think the show trusts its audience to know that depiction does not mean endorsement. Whenever characters throw around racist or sexist terms, it's usually to illustrate their ignorance and bigotry.
I think ultimately The Sopranos shows us how the structures of power in society can poison and destroy all of us. It's a nuanced show. I love it so much.
I'm so stoked to discover the rest of the series! I just watched episode 3 (reaction coming this Wednesday)
With the way you enjoy feeding wild animals as much as Tony and how you're already picking up lots of little details from the first 2 episodes... I expect to come back here when you're on season 4 completely talking and thinking like Tony Soprano 💀
LOL! I don't think I can nail the Jersey accent quite yet
I started re-watching The Sopranos about a month ago and I wish i knew about your channel then. I just started season 5 but they're all still pretty fresh in my mind.
Oh well welcome to the party! It's gonna take me a while to get to Season 5, but we'll get there!! haha
Like a lot of series, this show was amazing for several seasons and then just kinda drifted into nothing at the end. Same with Sons of Anarchy. Everything that made it great was lost
Breaking bad comes in 2nd all time behind this
So I've heard! Just out of curiosity, what do you think puts Sopranos over Breaking Bad?
@@CristyReacts I think Sopranos made a way for shows like Dexter and breaking Bad where we see protagonist as anti hero who do bad shit but we still root for them
Sopranos #1 and Breaking Bad #2. Subscribed. Check out Breaking Bad if you haven't already.
I for one prefer violence of vengeance as my favorite kind of violence because it’s the most righteous, justified, and satisfying.
Revenge violence all the way!!
I agree that it's righteous and justified. But it's also complicated and emotional. It can get messy. 🥲
@@CristyReacts Fair enough…
That or you just haven’t seen the right revenge movies yet.
Livia is such a great character, i despise her and everything she says, be she also makes me laugh so much
I totally see that! I'm gonna try not to focus too much on her negativity but instead on how well she's written (and portrayed by the actress). Also, that "go into the ham" line was hilarious!
''The Wire'' is a tv series you should watch....''Gomorrah'' is another ...
I've heard of The Wire, a lot of people seem to be suggesting it! Tell me about Gomorrah, never heard of it
@@CristyReacts is a Italian tv series about the mafia in Italy, the sopranos of Italy
"The Sopranos" and "Game of Thrones" are two of the best series on HBO. The protagonist, Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), is a fascinating character.
I’m not proud of this, but I’ve never watched *one* episode of Game of Thrones!! I’ve heard nothing but great reviews, so I’m definitely interested.
Lots of inane yapping over great dialogue. Livia one of the greatest characters in TV history. Carmela, Tony's wife, one of the best characters / actresses ever. Over the course of the show you will recognize what she brings to the show.
This is a masterpiece 🤌 gets better with each season.
So I hear!
Sopranos has NO EQUAL.
It's not a mob series.
Its about a man and his family and life.
Agreed! That’s what I’m discovering!
