I just got the new facelift BMW 4 weeks ago. It's a really high spec 320i with adaptive LED lights, heads up display, leather seats and extra widescreen display. I really love the car. It handles well and is super quick. The auto gear box responds well but my only complaint is that the downshift could be made a little smoother. Otherwise, its a great car and definitely better than the Merc.
Sounds nice :) I had a 24hr test drive of a Jaguar XE 2.0d Auto, and it suffered the same issue of slow downshifts. Could be sorted by twisting the dial to 's' to prepare for an overtake etc... But really it should be able to sort it out quicker.
I drive a 2015 bmw 3 series with the standard suspension. I can honestly say it is the most uncomfortable car I have ever driven above about 20mph over poor road surfaces. I notice it most on Britain's dual carriageways which don't seem to be maintained as well as motorways. The car has a jiggly motion rocking from side to side and pitching front and back. My shoulders sway left to right and my head back and fore hitting the head restraint. I've tried altering the tyre pressures from lowest recommended to highest.
LOL. The m-sport non-adaptive standard setup is fantastic fun. Comfortable enough but stiff enough to really throw the car around. Can place it on a dime.
I have had a 3 series for a couple of weeks and done just under 2,000 miles in it and have to say it is not a good car for people that do high miles. The seats become uncomfortable after about an hour of driving, I am getting back ache from sitting in it. The pedals feel like they are too far to the right so you sit on the wonk, the accelerator is too close to the seat when the seat is set to be in the right place for the clutch pedal, move the seat back so the accelerator is the right distance from the seat and the clutch feels like it is too far away. Also coming down a size from previously having a 5 series and before that an A6 I have to say there is a huge drop in luxury feel to the car interior. It really is worth paying that bit extra for the 5 series. On the positive side I have averaged over 60mpg (due to a lot of motorway miles) the best trip I have done for fuel economy was an average of 74mpg over 62 miles mainly M25 and A12. When you want to drive it quickly down a country lane is where it shines as it handles exceptionally well. So if you do short journeys with lots of backroads the car is great but for long trips or if you like luxury cars then look elsewhere
@@rohanmahendru6610 if you do don’t get it with the standard SE seats they aren’t comfortable for a lot of driving. The Msport seats have more adjustment and make a big difference to how comfortable they are for a lot of use. I also had an F10 and then a G30 5 series and both of them were much much more comfortable for a lot of use than my 320d SE
It was no Dog with ordinary suspension,OK, let me clarify that,I have driven one one standard and it is not that bad,so you cannot chuck it into a corner safe in the knowledge that it will go round without complaint from the Tyres,my current is an M- Sport which is great but a bit hard,no I think you'd be a picky driver if you were dissuaded.
I saw your review for new BMW 7 series G11 and the location become so familiar to me , cause i have noticed you shoot your test drive at the same location.
Great car and all, but it's not worth it. Go get a 2013 BMW 3 series. You probably won't notice many differences. I got a white 2013 BMW 328i xdrive sedan with red interior certified. The mark on it was $51000 and I bought it for $31000. Save yourself some money and buy a certified pre owned BMW.
What the hell is this reviewer talking about, has no idea lol. The Models from 2012 onwards look nothing like the old dinosaurs that grunted before them, the amazing new upright grill is stunning, still can't get over from when I 1st viewed it (actually on this website lol) all way back in late 2012. BMW is still easily the cheapest since Merc have lost the plot selling their new (but very nice timeless 2014 C at crazy prices), so still by far the best for me.
Not a BMW fan by any Mean's but why not keep the negativity about the standard suspension set up under your hat until you have tested it. Sounds a bit lazy to me or Just looking for a negative.
lovely beautiful car. long tern though some of the replacement part prices on Beemers are crakers!. the back box on my Beemer is over £100 and its not even a kosha bmw part!!!!
It has to have the extra cost adaptive suspension to handle as it should. Jaguar XE rides & handles better with standard dampers. The XE also looks better. I find the BMW to bland.
After driving the 3 Series for almost 3 years (pre face lift), for those serious buyers out there these are my honest downside with this car you should consider whether you can live up with it before buying:- 1. Unlike Mercedes C, they are still using a dated manual pull up Handbrake, this is a huge down point considering that BMW is one of the leader in mainstream luxury cars, even the Passat has implemented electronic Handbrake at this point. 2. Ask any owner of the 3 Series, after a while you will undoubtedly experience some kind of loud Diesel engine sound that sounds like a truck even on the inside of the car, apparently this is due to the so called 4 cylinder engine that is causing it. Go Google it and you will see what I mean 3. If you are a guy, your weight will probably wear down the leather seat in time and they start to omit some kind of “leather to leather friction” sound if that make sense, less of a problem for women or if you are light weighted 4. Again, unlike the Mercedes C that has an electronic steering wheel controller, the 3 Series is still using dated manual steering adjustment as you can see in this video, very disappointed with this since we are talking about a leading luxury car in 2016 5. Be very careful with the Radio button, it scratches very easily make sure press it with your finger and not finger nails otherwise you will experience some kind of “leakage light” at night from the scratch which looks very horrible 6. Make sure you get a seat with Lumbar Support, don’t get the flat seat like I do, after a while you might experience some back ache especially if you are living in the city with traffic jams 7. The auto Start Stop is horrible, the jerking sensation is definitely inferior to my mom’s Mercedes C 8. No Auto Hold function available, again this is another huge down point as a leading luxury car in 2016, even the Mercedes A class and Passat has this Auto Hold function, it makes a huge difference if you are living with traffic jam Overall the biggest downside for me is the lack of features available for this car. This is my personal honest complain about the 3 Series that I think you should know before buying.
1). A lot of people like manual handbrakes vs the electronic ones (like me). So its subjective. Like manual driving vs auto. 2). I have an LCI 340i and I've never had that problem. My friend has a 320i and neither does he. 3). Srsly? Thats in every car that has leather 4). It HAS electronic power steering. What the hell are you on about? 5). Never had this problem. You nails are too long? 6). Thats with every car mate. Same the C Class and every other competitor. 7). No body uses the Auto Stop function, regardless of what car. Its a universally hated option in luxury vehicles. 8). Its on the 5 series and above. It'll be a nice feature but totally not necessary and 99% people wont give a shit. The 3 series is an outstanding car and a lot of what you said is just your own nitpicking and occurs in lots of other vehicles too, premium and non-premium.
I am speaking from my personal experience and opinion specifically about this F30 model, is it just some heads up for future buyers intending to get one, if you are happy with your car then good for you. Not here for a debate (you actually took the time to rebut every point??) XD
Some people prefer a normal hand brake. Most people don't like electric steering rack because you don't get good steering feel. The sound of the diesel engine... Is just that, a diesel 🙄. Some stupid reasons really.
The standard suspension is horrid. If you get a 3 series, adaptative m suspension is imperative. ALL LCI models except the 318i now come with the adaptative suspension so there's no point testing the standard suspension.
i still didn't like the mechanic e-brake which makes you feel sorry for paying more than 40k on a BMW that doesn't have electronic parking brake + it has a lot of pricey options so if i went for Audi i'll get more option with less money

It's amazing it doesn't have AEB as standard. Most golfs have had standard AEB for years.

I have the 2015 320d which came with halogen headlights and the 2016 comes with led's as standards. I presume I can't get an upgrade for a cost?
