THANK you! Everyone has been trashing these, but I have yet to see anyone use them correctly. And it's people that should know how to use watercolors too. It's almost like theyre purposely making them look awful. Like drying them in pans but not rewetting them properly first and then saying how trash they are when hardly any paint comes off on their brush! I've been screaming at my monitor "why are you doing that?! Youve never done that before?! You ALWAYS make sure your paints are properly rewet before using them so why not now?!?!!?!?"

Deborah, absolutely!! It's on my dream list to create the palettes and then share them and their history with all of you! I just need to get all the right (true) pigments first and it is a little challenging! But I'll get there! Thank you so much! ❤️🥰

I've never thought much about the history of pigments. Thank you for opening a new door of exploration for me to try! I'm a self taught artist please forgive my ignorance.
Yes let's hold onto hope! It's such a precious gift.

This was a very eye opening video for me, thank you Lily! I also tried them, and had the problem that I couldn't get a nice even color. They were very patchy.. but I think I wanted to have too much color .. too much vibrancy and took too much paint. I will try them again. What I found out is that if you paint nice delicate little things.. like flowers, and leaves.. all small stuff.. then they are very beautiful, if you try to fill a bigger area for a background they look very patchy. Your swatches look so much better than mine. This inspires me to experiment more with them. I also enjoyed your background .. history, mythology .. informations. Have a nice weekend! edit: I love the Lalvarit violet! Also the Indigo and Madder Lake is beautiful The Kamala looks awesome.( I don't have a Kamala...) My favorite color from this series so far is Stil De Grain.. I just love it!

Xooniart, I think you are so right! These paints look at their best when they are used for delicate, small work. I was so tempted by the Stil De Grain and reading that you like it so much, I may just have to go ahead and purchase it next time! 🥰😁

Just put them into pans and let them dry. They rewet very easily and the patchiness is gone. 😊

I think I jumped out of my seat too lol. I also saw them pop up on Jackson’s and immediately ordered the two boxes. Then I not so patiently waited for them to come. I only dislike the very very strong yellow pigment (forget name and number ATM but it’s the baby poo colour) because I’m in the medical field and it’s too close to what comes out of the human body when really really sick lol.

Maybe it's a Lily thing to get so excited about natural pigments, haha! 😁The ''baby-poo' color comparison did make me giggle, and now I am curious to which one it was...Kamala perhaps? Or Curcuma?

I always instantly click when a new video from you comes up in my yt. I've already seen a video about these pigments but I enjoy your swatching videos and perspective, and calming style so much. Your ending was lovely, I am in a long term very difficulty situation so I know it's very important to keep holding on to hope and loved hearing you reinforce this. What disability do you have? I don't think I knew until you mentioned pompei. I have ankylosing spondylitis, ptsd and a tbi that together keep me indoors mostly.

Thank you so much for swatching! I really like the Kamela. As you love historical and interesting pigments, do you already know Della Magna, Italian single pigment handmade watercolours? I bought some and really like them!
All the best for you! ❤️🎨

Thank you so much for trying out this colours. I've seen a video here on RUclips about them and they were considered very streaky and gluey. So, I was very surprised about the beauty of your swatches ❤. I think, I might give them a try. Thank you again, Lily 🙏💖.

These are lovely colors. Love the indigofera! When you painted it I was reminded of blue velvet. I could do without the celadonite. As you said, too patchy.

Lovely paints and worth trying even if they're fugitive. Perhaps Schmincke ground them all extremely fine, but I have seen them all quite clumpy in another video. Everyone swatches differently. 😊 I have some beautiful Honister Slate Green, but have yet to try the Celadonite. I just made my first batch of Carmine lake and have a gorgeous watercolor paint. 🎉 We all have something special we look forward to on our hope list and I hope that you are able to make your trip. ❤ The off-season might be better for you to get around easily??? Thank you for another wonderful swatch session. 🥰🙏🥰 Stay well.

Very interesting pigments. I wish you would have done a painting with them so we could’ve appreciate how they perform in real life.
Btw, I love the background of the swatches. The border is beautiful. Did you make a very light wash in the background or is it just an illusion?

    • @lilymoonart
      @lilymoonart  4 месяца назад

Thank you! The backround has no color added to it, it is pure paper. The only place I apply color to my swatch layouts beforehand is in the corners, and a tiny bit near the ink line 😁☺️

I don’t think they should have released most of these paints. It’s a shame because I would love schmincke to release their artists range in vegan formula. I ignored the videos showing the streakiness due to my art supply obsession but I wish I hadn’t. I used several different of the best quality cotton papers and even diluted them right down to almost no pigment and still the gummy streakiness. The binder also dries at a different rate to the water so you get patches of dry paint then clumps of darker paint that takes ages to dry.
I would only recommend buying these if you want a very pretty box and you want your artwork to have a faux-naive look to the finished texture. Two yellows are okay (of the two sets) and the blue is alright and a matte brown colour. The rest are honestly some of the worst paints I’ve ever used and I have a lot lot of paints.
I find it hard to let go of art supplies I don’t use much (the PH Martin’s watercolours for example) but I’m considering selling these and losing most my money. In context the only other paints I ever gave away were cotman, and cotman are mostly better than these.
Green earth is always a very pale pigment and often gummy but this one just dries so badly and clumps and you can’t get a nice fine wash with it. Wet in wet the paint doesn’t budge an inch.

Can you please do the swatching alone and show some real art painting. All of us here know how to paint swatch boxes. Is that the only thing people do on you tube now and call themselves artists?
