The Alaska Railroad bull caught me then a local train rolled by.

Also i install gas lines for the switch heaters on the propane tanks on the side of the tracks for Norfolk southern. Ive asked about you every time i see a conductor or engineer or rail watch and safety man out of berea ohio and Cleveland ohio and i swear everyone has heard of you and even seen you and your tags and a lot of them are waiting for the day to meet you and you sign their hard hats! Such a awesome conversation to bring up! Ive brought a lot of them to your channel! As stobe the hobo brought me to yours!

The mention of Dandelions reminded me of a huge domesticated rabbit I saved from stray dogs. He showed up one day and I adopted him. I built him a large pen to run around in the waiting. He would literally stand on his hind legs waiting for me to pick Dandelions out in the yard for him to eat.
    Glad you’re feeling better.

The rail yards have the omni directional cameras mounted on the yard light stanchions. They transmit videos to a central station 24-7 which is monitored. Any activity can be reported to the Railroad police immediately. I've viewed Matt's videos of the rail speeders, great stuff. I started my railroad career as a tower man with the Erie-Lackawanna Rwy. and worked my way through the crafts. These videos are great, keep up the good work!

I absolutely LOVE these videos because I absolutely LOVE trains. I lived next to a very busy railroad track when I was real young in Gulfport, MS. I remember waking up and hearing a very distant train whistle heading my way. As the train passed our house, everything shook. That's when trains were very long - pulled many cars. Thank you for these videos. ❤❤ By the way, I bet the camera is on that tall pole you first pointed towards. It's high enough and probably wide enough. It wouldn't be on the electrical poles, I don't think.

They are usually attached high up on light standards... convenient because metal light standards are hollow inside so that whoever has the security camera(s) attached, can run electrical (if the utility does not want to "share" their electricity, etc.) and/or FO cable up to their camera(s).

That shiny stuff you can see in the pan is just iron pyrites but it's cool to see just the same. Panning is hard work and expect a full pan of dirt to get you just a tiny bit of gold. It's a two handed process with a lot of swirling. Dan Hurd Prospecting is a great channel to see examples.

I looked up AEI and sure enough the tag is a passive RF device that is energized by those boxes. An RF signal is sent to the tag which energizes it and it then sends the stored info to the transmitter/receiver boxes. The second you showed us the tag, I was reminded of the R.F.I.D. devices I worked with at an electronic security company. Interesting!

    FYI -
AEI means: Automatic equipment identification (AEI) is an electronic recognition system in use with the North American railroad industry. Consisting of passive tags mounted on each side of rolling stock and active trackside readers, AEI uses RF technology to identify railroad equipment while en route.

The line through the small town I lived in NW Iowa had been abandoned for years and they took that old Datsun out on that line. I don't remember how far they went but they were gone over night, returning to town early Saturday morning.
