i love it when an exquisite collection like this, a life's work, gets thrown into history's trash can by someone who inherits it. That is the epitome of respect
Beautiful, especially the Greene and Greene furnitures and I like the fact this family collected the testimonies of america's past. Art is not a decoration, it is an element of people's identity.
Love this. Quality is a lost thing in American craft. People today hate perfection or high quality and ridicule any who appreciate it. It’s stupid how people hate others for having fine taste in arts and crafts.
As a none US citizen, I often hear the term "Americana" and I recognize colors, patterns, and themes... but when I watched this, most period furniture was English-looking. So, Americana = English furniture? can anyone provide me with more information? Thank you!
Many craftsman came from England and they created their furniture here with American woods but they used old world tradition. It’s the story of new immigrants and their art, painting, furniture etc. The story of what they found in a new world.

What a ridiculous choice of words to describe what represents the "Spirit of America": Courage and Boldness. You would think the man was talking about military history, not decorative and fine arts. Sorry, I forgot "Freedom", something that most Americans, in their arrogance and ignorance, think is an American invention of which they own the copyright.
Thank you for saying it. Completely ridiculous. They use the word “freedom” like they have a profound, other-level understanding of it. They boast it but have never even seen it up-close… And the worst part about this video is it comes from a British auction house. You’d think they’d have better taste than this, but they don’t…
The absurd, awkward patriotism… 🥴 Completely ridiculous and unbearably cheesy particularly coming from Sotheby’s. From Christie’s you come to expect it, but Sotheby’s? Geesh…
Welcome to the Globalized Hell where every company/institution has the SAME message/speech and "values". None of these old companies are what they used to be 30 years ago. They are disgustingly "politically correct" and they are re-writing art history.

What exquisite items.

Sad to see such a collection dismantled.
Lives well lived. How fortunate this couple was.
I want that one and that one . 😊
Beautiful things. I was a friend of Daniel Wolf, so this makes me a little sad.

Pink gourd vase is lovely. There they are, the two guys in kilts plate.
What is the name of the song in this video? I love it 💕
I don't know 😕
reminds me of Henry Francis du Pont and Winterthur

that's pretty much it...the origins of America from England and other European influences is why the furniture looks the way it does.
@@vanitymarks8798 it also involves lot of native american arts and crafts.

Очень красиво.Радует, что книги стоят на книжных полках, а не стоят стопками на столах.

I think the Hong Chinese Export bowl is coming up Jan. 2024.
💝
Seems to me that the team has a fair bit of work cut out for them.
What I mean is, it would be lovely to see a longer video of the collection. A very nice sampling, regardless. 🙂
👍
Великолепно все! 😅
There's no way you could get that bracelet on a wolf 🐺. Maybe the necklace... and the furniture is in suspiciously good condition. I have questions
It’s because they were owned by rich people and rich people don’t use furniture
suspiciously good condition - curious what you are suggesting. Thanks.

Boldness ? Freedom ? ....looks beautiful but looks the most classical classic possible 🤔😀

Rich people’s collection. It’s lovely, but not representative of most Americans collections.
The son looks like Jeff bezos
Im sure your parents are rolling over in their grave knowing their son wants the money---shame

a great, stiff collection
There is no soul in this collection.
It's about money & some exquisite items placed together in an antiseptic setting.
Too perfect - too boring!
Typical American selling his heritage. But… I am coveting that tulip lamp.
