Definitely have had "paranormal" experiences during meditation retreats and various healing techniques and initiations of various sorts. Recently during a weekend retreat I had a rather intense but equanimous visionary experience. Some of the material was beautiful and others not so much. The key to safety in my experience is when you have a grounded practice and a supportive teacher and community.

Nothing wrong with trying to make a dream pleasant. It's sure better than a nightmare.
But what's even better is knowing a dream to be a dream. Then even if a hoard of demons came to attack you, they couldn't harm you.
And even if a pantheon of buddhas came to bless you, they couldn't help you.
They're dream demons and dream buddhas!

I don't think I had a Kundalini, but I had paranormal activity in my home after my awakening as well as years before my awakening, so I'm just trying to understand how it's all connected.
Also though, as I was going through my breakup/awakening, I felt like there was something in me more powerful than myself that was dark, my shadow I suppose, that was claiming control over the direction of my life because I hadn't been making good decisions for myself and my life was needing to take a drastic turn against my surface self's wants.
