Yeah, like he could’ve transformed and gave some cover fire as Optimus could escape with Cade, Tessa, and Shane and possibly even T.J Miller’s character. Which would’ve most likely been his last few moments before getting cut down my Lockdown.
Rollbar was already a transformer, and he was tracking and about to find Optimus. He already knew if he interacted with humans he had to do certain things to blend in. He had been watching the two ?farms? and had seen Shawn go back and forth and had scanned and copied Shawn's car. However, Rollbar never divulged his identity to Shawn, therefore Shawn didn't know that Rollbar was a replacement for his normal rally car. This makes sense to me.
I had an extremely similar theory to this.

And this just occurred to me. What did Rollbar do with the original Rally car, put it in his alternative dimensional subspace pocket like it has been explained happens to Prime's Trailer?

Shane never mentioned how he gets the car, and Rollbar appeared in the ROTF toyline, so maybe Rollbar was going to be in the film, so I think eventually the team decided to remove the character, and it appeared in the Breakout Battle pack, and I was wondering that why Optimus didn’t communicate with Rollbar, I still always think Rollbar is an autobot
Shane mentions that he had his life savings invested in the car, implying that he bought it or modded it himself.
Rollbar definetly was going to scan the car and maybe becomes Shane’s but I don’t think it would’ve ever been originally rollbar
Using a sentient vehicle when you're a racer seems like cheating and one of the Autobots becoming a submarine takes "more than meets the eye" to a new level.
My god. How it would have been soo awesome if the submarine transformed. Gives me the Devastator scene from Revenge of the Fallen vibes.
rollbar appeared in the rotf toyline, also when we saw the red jeep in the dotm filming people were saying the red jeep we saw in dotm was gonna be rollbar

The Red Jeep was a fan who kept trying to get their car into the movie, I believe they even tried again with the same Jeep in the filming of AOE or TLK.
Actually back in 2014 I remember seeing transformer concept art of that vehicle and I still haven't forgotten.
Of course while the truth is that if it was a Transformer the idea was cut early enough that no major toys of the character with an original design made it through (I don't think the Step Changers would of been his actual form in the movie considering it's designed as a homage and that doesn't typically happen, in addition to his head design being a simple X-Brawn styled mask) I like to pretend that they are a Transformer although not necessarily an Autobot who was hiding as Shane's car with their idea assuming that Cemetery Wind would never think to look in a public place like the racing business.
They didn't intentionally go there to rescue anyone, they just so happened to be dragged along there by Shane due to being their car and simply did some control of the driving to stay alive, and the moment the humans got out they drive away, either escaping Lockdown or being pursued by the Bounty Hunter (thus why Lockdown didn't continue to pursue Optimus).
The reason I say not necessarily Autobot is because a neutral or Decepticon would more likely not want to go with Optimus for obvious reasons, but of course it's a flimsy head canon interpretation anyways.
Besides this I think in the end the reason that car shot remains in the film or alternatively was filmed like that in the first place was it being yet another of Bay's misdirection's, it's possible that Rollbar/The car was never meant to be a Transformer but Bay wanted the audience to think so (and hence why the car had that marketing photo as well) only to reveal that the rescuer was instead.....some boyfriend we never met before (the idea probably sounded cooler in their heads if this was the case)
Yeah I also like to pretend he’s a transformer one who came down do to Optimus message in revenge of the fallen and my head cannon is rollbar and Shane are good friends like bee and Sam and when he says he doesn’t know how he’s driving so good he’s lying because he doesn’t think he can fully trust Cade and Lucas however he did want to tell Tessa but before he could get the opportunity his best friend was blown to bits Shane was devastated but didn’t let it show to preserve his masculinity some other random information
1 Cade had an assumption the car was a transformer but didn’t have time to ask amidst all the chaos
2 the custom race track in the whare house was made by Shane so him and rollbar and could race
And 3 rollbar doesn’t speak to Cade and friends because he was traumatized by seeing his kind hunted and killed by humans so he became shy but I Iimagen if he had time to open up and meet up with the other autobots In monument valley he would be similar to crosshairs
It's funny before Shane was on screen and I saw that car and it had no driver my first thought was ok so even though Optimus has masked his signal maybe a new autobot manged to track him down then I started thinking for all we know this could be a decepticon who is working with lockdown but unfortunately as we all know that wasn't the case at all
The reason I thought Rollbar was transformer was because how did Shane know that Cade and Tessa were in trouble,
unless Rollbar recieved the message that Optimus sent out when Cade was proving to Lucas and Tessa that the truck was a transformer.

I’d rather see Rollbar as a transformer then Shane to be fair but I was disappointed when he didn’t transform bro I was waiting to see what was about to happen

@Krimzon because I understand movies and that characters need depth right definitely an L anyway bumblebee is the best live action movie we have had and will be until rise of the beasts because we see the transformers for more than 3 mins and the humans are interesting

This is my opinion, please don’t hate. So I don’t think the Chevrolet was a transformer because it got destroyed after Lockdown threw his grenade. Sadly he never came back in TF5. So he might be dead at this point.
Yeah I think him and Shane were best friends and when he got blown up by lockdown Shane was devastated but decided to press on because he didn’t want to seem weak in front of his gf and her dad

7:01 I think the only reason that scene made it lika that in the movie is because Michael Bay's lack of attention to detail. During most of his movies you can even see how the aspect ratio of the image changes abruptly for no reason.
I think the movie would have been better off with rollbar being a transformer, would be nice for him to help Optimus

Not exactly no I feel like he’s just a random new character Adeded in for the sake of selling toys which he did but he we never saw his robot mode in the movie wich is kinda sad but this movie was all ready long as is but still would have been kinda cool

I think there are two chrevolet
One is a literal car
And another is RollBar/ other transformer
I guess Shane have his car scanned by rollbar
While Shane real car maybe got destroyed, rollbar may just run away with different car form.
Here’s my theory when rollbar drove up to the hill he had the seat reclined because he’s a show off and loves to race while Shane was sitting in the back seat in order to let his friend have his moment before they rush in to save Cade and friends
So why didn’t the car never transform when the time was needed is he just a bot did he lose ability to transform on the war on cybertron or something else
My head cannon is that he was traumatized seeing his autobot pals slaughtered so felt frightened to transform in front of people that weren’t Shane cus they were good friends
Because its just a regular car, autobots/transformers cant have minor damage like the rim being cracked completely make them immobile and useless

What if he was a Transformer before he came to Earth he saw that car destroy the humans car and then take that car to transform him into his car and then left or he got killed by lockdown or he escaped to everyone and we will never know if he's an Autobot dissecticon or dead or we don't know only Michael Bay knows

The reason why the shot was kept was probably "We got the coolest shot yet. I guess this goes into the final movie"
Originally it was meant to be a Decepticon, and was taking Cade and his family to Lockdown , but they felt it was too close to the Original Bumblebee reveal and Soundwave in DOTM
I think that the sonic might have been a neutral transformer hiding on earth, and that he used a holo-form, or something along those lines, to help the humans. Particularly one that looked close or identical to the other guy(I can’t remember his name). He might have been an accidental kill, a car that lockdown didn’t realize was a transformer.
Rollbar probably survived the bombs and fled somewhere in the earth after everyone abandons him and the shot where Shane was not there he was probably taking cover P.S when I was a kid I was like is he a transformer

That scene goin' down that country drive? Looks like it's in my county (Lenawee County, Michigan). Additionally, in the movie, the white farmhouse that's right next door to the barn was the house a classmate mine lived in when we both went to Sand Creek High School.
Another point for rollbar would be when he punches a guy with his tire, a human couldn’t do that but a transformer totally could

Alright folks.. Who here knows what a professional stunt driver is? Because from what im seeing, or actually not seeing, they simply painted out the rally driver and seemingly forgot to paint shane in or perhaps there was a deleted scene not mentioned. Continuity errors exist and honestly this may be another example to add to the list.
Either Shane was the pretender a headmaster, or a God master without wearing the exo suit...
Or.. The producers/director wanted us to think Shane's car was initially a transformer, so they made the first scene we see the car in look as if it doesn't have a driver.
Edit: Spoke too soon, didn't wait to see the part about the toys. It could be possible that they just wanted to make the featured car into a transformer in toy form to make that much more money by having an additional toy to sale.

There was a huge possibility that this car is a transformer because the designer or something of transformers said while the filming of Transformers Age of extinction that they always gives every transformer car a facelift so it gives a character to the transformers car and this sonic car have facelift so it was a transformer.

Yeah most fans noticed it. Or at least many die hard fans did. But there could be a few theories.
1. Is that he's originally intended to be introduced as a transformer, though latter changes to the script dropped the idea. But a scene of him with no driver, and another with Shane alluding to him had already been shot, and that there was no time (or too impractical) for reshoots so they used them anyway.
2. MB intentionally did it that way and that he's still a transformer in the script.

Shane was hidden to give the exciting illusion of it possibly being a TF because it is a TF movie ,its one of those tease to the audience tricks movies do sometimes

It's a Michael Bay film so it doesn't have to make sense or be plot hole free because it has explosions and slow motion fights scenes and slow motion shooting with explosions in the background or a slow motion shooter jumping or falling threw an explosion.

Skids and Mudflap were removed because they were deemed to offensive for the brand. As for their in universe removal they were simply explained as not wanting to work with humans after the whole desert fight. As for the scene in the field. That could have been rollbar that was there and then he drove off seeing his real version arrive. Maybe he drove off to locate other autobots and let them know what had happened and where to meet Optimus in the mountain reunion with Hound and them. He probably took on another form to blend in as he was more a scout than a fighter. Just some thoughts.
