  • Basic Difference between Solidworks and fusion 360 (Solidworks Vs Fusion 360). after watching this video we have idea about solidworks vs fusion 360 which one is better.

I think the deciding factor here is SolidWorks think they've invented the best thing since sliced bread and won't even let you use their demo unless you call a rep and provide your company details etc. Fusion360 is free for hobbyists and 1 million times more accessible.

Autodesk provides so many software in the 3d pipeline for free with no strings attached. YOU then decide if you want to extend the relationship.

SolidWorks didn't invent anything. Jon Hirschtick hires a few former engineers from PTC and they basically redesign Pro/ENGINEER for low-cost parametric software.

I believe it's which one you start with and commit to. I purchased a 3D Printer and needed a CAD program, I tried both and went back worth for a while and decided to stick with Fusion. I think it was the interface that won me over, being an IT Admin for the last 25years I am so used to terminal screens and stripped down GUI interface, that a change of pace is nice. When I want to make something to 3D print, I think fun... Fusion has a very user friendly interface that is aesthetically pleasing and simple. You can't go wrong with either, just pick one and dedicate to it and the sky is the limit on what you can create. However, if you aren't using Fusion in a commercial way and you are just having fun creating at home, it is Free. SolidWorks not so much.

Unless you get solidworks Piratebay Special Edition.

When you created the circular pattern for the holes in fusion, you could have done it faster by sketching and creating 1 hole. Then using the pattern on the feature.

That's how I do it but after watching this I was wondering if I've been wrong this whole time... I guess there are no wrong ways, provided it works!

You can do the same thing in Solidworks with a revolved pattern. I think that's the name, similar concept to what you described. Looks like they have almost the exact same basic features, just with different UIs.

Worked with solidworks for years, but when my license expired I went over to Fusion360 for 4 years. It's been 4 frustrating years.

Modelling is faster in fusion 360 ....drawing capabilities of solidworks are better than fusion 360

I'm learning Solidworks.. coming from 3 years of fusion360, I am yet to see anything that is better in Solidworks

      Is Solid Works better?

For simply creating a model, no difference. Solidworks is mainly used for FEA and Fluid Danamic analysis and vitural imaging/vedeio creation.

How much carryover is there from fusion to solidworks?

Most stuff. If your using solid bodies it's almost the same but solidworks will have more features, but nothing you couldn't figure out how to do on fusion. Surfaces are way more useful on fusion tho, solidworks is a pain to use if your making surfaces.

Good job I guess? I don't see how this is a comparison on something so basic. Any CAD should be able to do this without issue. As a user of both each have strength and weaknesses. Show a comparison on surfaces and mesh manipulation or something.
Also, you need to take advantage of your shortcut keys on both.

I prefer fusion360 because it's bottom to top while solidworks is top to bottom.
bottom to top means if you dimension and parametrise everytjing correctly and the dimensions are interlinked with eachother. If you decide you need to make a dimension changr or any change in a previous step in the timeline, the entire design will adapt to those changes accross components.
While in top to bottom, if you change something in the timeline...chances are you will have to rework the entire design.
