    Remember when paradoxes were terrifying concepts even for the Doctor? Somemething that could create chaos on a cosmic level, shatter the walls of time and space and bring the end of everything?
    I do, but the writers didn't, and that's a paradox in itself.

    I'm a leftie and even I thought these episodes went too far. Still clinging onto the hope that one day we'll get Robert Holmes type stories again, but Disney will never allow that. I'm not against New Who, I didn't even mind some of Jodies era, but the musical number was just too much lol.

We once had the genuine threat of Daleks and Cybermen in this show, now it's snot monsters and a villain who looks like the wicked stepmother in a pantomime. The true fans like me left long ago and RTD is now making this for the clapping seals who always want more diversity.

    The show for me died with Capaldi. I even went so far as to buy editing software to remove Jodie from the regen scene at the end. As soon as he starts to change it fades to the William Hartnell's speech from the beginning of the 5 Doctors. It turned out pretty good. It breaks my heart that an institution like Dr. Who has turned into the crap that it is today. I see the first 2 episode of the new season got terrible ratings.

    The Butterfly Effeck originates from a 1952 novel "A Sound of Thunder" written by Ray Bradbury.
    There is a company that organizes safari hunting on extinct animal species.
    They go back in time on a T-Rex hunt and kill the animal at the moment it would have suffered a natural death. One of the participants steps off the floating walkway and steps on a butterfly.
    When they return, the world has changed.
    A concept of chaos theory in which the flapping of a butterfly's wings in one part of the world could create a hurricane on the opposite side of the globe. The term was actually introduced by meteorologist Edward Norton Lorenz in the 1960s. However, Bradbury's concept of how the death of a butterfly in the past could have drastic changes in the future is a representation of the butterfly effect and is used as an example of how to consider chaos theory and the physics of time travel.

    I did not think you could get worse than Jody Whittaker, but honestly this take on the doctor is truly appalling. Even removing the woke messaging, the writing is terrible and the show now only defecates on the amazing history of this previously entertaining and long running show. Very sad. You are correct (and justified in your diatribe) - this is not Doctor Who. It is some sad parody of the original. It is not even a dumbed down kids version. It is just dreadful. Doctor Who died with Peter Capaldi.

    2 episodes arround Babies in a row, and then a "Pro choice" message that is contradicted by the plot of the episode itself. Ms. "Rose look a like" acts like a 12yer old child and Ncuti's voice has no gravitas at all. And the best Job as an Actor does the Pronouns-Villain. The Beatles a wasted in this childish plot and we do not even get a proper collection of Beatles Songs as Disney was to stingy to pay for the rights to play some.

    How long before the new fans move on to the next franchise?
    Leaving behind the ashes..
    The timeless child and the master laughing at the ruins of Gallifrey were more iconic than was intended.. but for the wrong reasons.

      I'm a bit doctor who fan. My childhood show. I'm quite young so matt Smith was my doctor. I was alive for David Tennant but was too young. I continue to watch those episodes because they were clever and although the special effects weren't brilliant, that was what made it feel quite wholesome and enjoyable. I'm now watching the old episodes from the first doctor. Also brilliant.
      I've watched all of the newest episodes because I've wanted to give it a chance. And although some were good or atleast alright, I wish I hadn't seen it and I wish it had been something else than what it is. I've gotten my girlfriend into doctor and I have warned her about the later episodes as I believe they are a waste of time. I hope the show will step up from what it has now become, however I don't believe it will.
      Not only the writing, but the new cinematography makes it not feel right anymore.

    You're right, but for all the wrong reasons. A bit of DEI isn't a problem, as long as it's not the focus. As long as it doesn't take priority over the story and plot. The problem with the new season is just absolutely terrible writing.

      @r0b0coffee 19 дней назад +3

      The moment DEI comes into the picture creativity is always constrained. Sometime constraints can be good to create good stories, but here it also comes with more creative constraints to serve the DEI interest. DEI must be abandoned, merit and respect are all that is needed.

    The stepping on a butterfly that changes the future is not the butterfly effect (the wing flap dominioing out to effect a large change), it is from Ray Bradbury's story A Sound of Thunder where a time traveler stepping on a butterfly in the past changes the future.

    • @MuljoStpho
      @MuljoStpho 25 дней назад

      The dead butterfly is prevented from being able to make that flap that caused that big chain of events. Technically the change is the prevention of any influence that might've otherwise been caused by that butterfly later.
      Of course, whether the butterfly is living or dead the concept should really be more of a hypothetical. Not taken so literally. Either way you look at it it's about runaway cause and effect, that any arbitrary change (no matter how small and inconsequential it may seem, with a butterfly being just one imaginable example) could potentially build up to bigger and more drastic changes somewhere down the line. Deviating further and further from one possible chain of events as one change leads to another.

Next week the doctor may decide to stop calling himself by the doctor, because it's his slaave name, and we find out he is his own momma and daddy as 2 previous incarnations get together and make...them.

    • @ChockHolocaust
      @ChockHolocaust 5 дней назад

      I suspect you are giving the writer a bit too much credit there. If the writer had read, and even been influenced by Ray Bradbury's story (which I doubt, given how ignorant and inept his own sci-fi writing efforts are), he has still completely misunderstood the mechanics of how such a timeline story's logic functions. Thus it is far more likely he's vaguely heard about the premise and just gone with what he thinks he knows about it as regards to its chaos theory effects. Witness his writing in a different episode, where he actually thinks the music of the spheres relates to audible music if you want another glaring example of the level of literary ignorance we are witnessing from this utter hack.
      As I'm sure you know, Ray Bradbury's short story features a tourist going back in time with a desire to hunt a T-Rex - the death of which (to suit the story's premise) is known to be inconsequential as far as historic ripple effects will be. But when the hunter panics and accidentally steps on a butterfly, killing it, the butterfly's death does alter the future, i.e. the present from whence the traveller came, wherein he returns to find a changed election result and a fascist government in place, but he has to go back to his own present to see the effect having occurred.
      In this sense, Bradbury's story does at least (sort of) follow within the confines of its own logical premise as far as fixed points on traversable timelines would function, even if it does conveniently make a small butterfly's existence more capable of affecting things than the actions of a giant carnivore, which seem a little unlikely. This aside, you'd like to think Russell T Davies would understand the mechanics of this, given he's supposed to be writing the scripts for a show in which time travel is the core premise. But of course he doesn't understand this because quite apart from being a shit writer, he's far too busy trying to shoehorn a gay agenda into a children's show whilst pretending doing this is somehow progressive and a good thing, instead of the disturbingly creepy grooming it actually is.

    This was a stellar analysis of two incredibly insipid, pathetic, and contradictory episodes yet. And yes, RTD is all about 'indoctrinating' the next generation of youths--if he can get them to watch and listen. Based on what we have seen, I'm not sure he will be successful. The quality is just...not...there...Nurse What, indeed..."Doctor, I let you go." (2017).

When Janelle gets misgendered he says, "I'm a man living as a woman, so please don't call me sir." He doesn't start screaming hate. That was a plotline through Jodie Whitaker's run. It retconned "The First Doctor" as no longer being the first. There were countless cycles of twelve Doctor lives before him (actually, they first started to introduce this during Peter Capaldi's run, didn't they? that was when The Doctor crossed paths with the black female Doctor who was a life from his previous cycle, wasn't it? and The Doctor's memories had been wiped at the start of each new cycle), and originally before any of those cycles started he was some mysterious little girl that showed up out of nowhere (or there was something about her coming from an alternate universe, I think?) to be found by some Galifreyan scientist who did experiments forcing the child to regenerate over and over until the scientist knew how to alter all Galifreyans to also possess that ability.

    Sounds like this episode is based on the devil went down to georgia by the Charlie Daniels band.
    "I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player, too.
    And if you'd care to take a dare I'll make a bet with you.
    Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the Devil his due.
    I'll bet a fiddle of gold against your soul 'cause I think I'm better than you."
    The boy said, "My name's shitty, and it might be a sin,
    But I'll take your bet; you're gonna regret 'cause I'm the best there's ever been."
    Shitty, rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard.
    'Cause Hell's broke loose in London and the Devil deals the cards.
    And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold,
    But if you lose the Devil gets your soul.
