I honestly thought that my request would be forgotten... but somehow... some way... it rose up from the ashes and claimed its rightful place among the D64D2 OST. To DAR, I thank you for this. When mine and my father's PC gets fixed... ZX Spectrum's GZDoom Adventures will return with a custom made map ready to be entered and conquered. A promise is a promise, DAR. 😁👍 Keep up the good work, buddy. Additional Update: I will happily await the next request - "Dream, Dream Eternal" but done a semi-tone higher. And please DAR, take your time. You've earned it.
Thanks, and I'm also looking forward to that custom map, ZX! I also haven't forgotten about "Dream, Dream, Eternal" and the suggestion for recording it a semi-tone higher (still have a note for that in the Covers To-Do List!). Can't wait to do that one for the marathon's big finale!
Doom 1&2 covers: Eh, everyone does those Evilution covers: OK, this is interesting Community MIDI packs covers: Wow, never expected to hear those covered D64D2 covers: ...He really gone extra mile. The most unexpected of them all. Honestly though, you done and amazing job. I've been listening these tracks for days now.
Long ago, I was watching through a Doom 64 playthrough guide (by RUclipsr BigMacDavis: ruclips.net/p/PLR2vpfke_UnBLqbkyxTtMw2hH82Ey8pz7&si=J2XktJzAs4FLdzGn ) trying to gauge which of these Doom 64 for Doom 2 music tracks would've been most fitting for each of the official Doom 64 maps, with the aim of arranging these music tracks in a manner similar to building an album out of them 1st (where the tracks are played in sequential order, starting with a strong intro track for the 1st music track, then toning it down in terms of intensity, then building back up to a strong finale), before then considering how they would've fit within each level's overall design theme 2nd. Personally, I had found that there were enough music tracks in the whole Doom 64 for Doom 2 soundtrack that I had felt that there wasn't any need to use any Doom 1 or 2 music tracks to fill in the blanks, instead, opting to reuse music tracks from this soundtrack for all of the Doom 64 levels (much like what had been done with Doom 1's, Doom 2's, and TNT Evilution's music tracks). ------------------------------ As for this music track, here's what I had thought about it: If there was ever a music track I'd probably pick as, say, the 1st level of a hypothetical episode 3 of Doom 64, where the player would've likely ended up deep into Hell by this point, I'd have probably picked Inappropriate Behavior, which sounded like it had aspects of Donna to the Rescue from E3M2 of Doom 1, and the Title Theme of Duke Nukem 3D. However, I could've also seen Inappropriate Behavior being suitable for a smaller arena-like level like E2M9, Fortress of Mystery, from Doom 1, or MAP07, Dead Simple, from Doom 2. ------------------------------ As for which maps I would've used this music track for, methinks it would've been these: Episode 3: MAP18: Spawned Fear - Since this level, which has sections that feel reminiscent of E3M2: Slough of Despair and E3M4: House of Pain, both from Doom 1, would've made for a nice 1st level for a hypothetical Episode 3 if Doom 64 was episodic like Doom 1, I opted to make use of the 3rd music track that I had decided to reserve for said starting level of said hypothetical Episode 3. Episode 4: (The Lost Levels) MAP36: Cold Grounds - For the 3rd of the lost levels, which takes place in a castle with a moat, baileys, and a keep, I opted to reuse this not-yet-reused music track.
I've got quite a long backlog, but yes, I definitely plan on covering Legion of Fear at some point! Someone had also suggested that track a while back as well. ~DAR
The DAR scream is still dope. I didn't realize you'd been using it for so long though. I think the last one I remember you using it in was Painful Dreams. It doesn't sound the same as the one you used for the Doom 3 Redux though. Was that a different sample or did you pitch shift it? Also speaking of Doom 3. I've always been curious. Did you make your original cover private or remove it entirely?
I had pitch-shifted it back when I did the DOOM 3 Theme Redux. The amount of time-stretching is probably a bit different too. Also, the original cover is still around, just set to private. (actually forgot that I had set it to private at some point)
I've set it back to unlisted since its only really linked to from the "Into Sandy's City" and "E1M1" video descriptions, as well as old social media posts (and now here: ruclips.net/video/yZ8KpW-LFXA/видео.html ) I also totally forgot that the original DOOM 3 cover had the honor and significance of being the very first cover to officially kick off the start of the first Doom Marathon back then! (On a sidenote, kind of bummed out that comments get purged if a video was set to private.)
Great recommendation, didn't know about that one! Really love how power metal it is. I've added it to my Covers To-Do List, but it might take me a while to get to it, as I still have a bunch of other covers to record. ~DAR
Hey, DAR, just a quick question. Can I borrow this song (Inappropriate Behavior) for my custom-made map? If you wish not to agree on what I ask, I understand. If so, I would greatly appreciate it very much and you will be credited for it. Thank you for sparing a moment of your time. =)
Yes! The D64D2 marathon continues with one of my favorite songs from the wad!

Episode 3:
MAP18: Spawned Fear
- Since this level, which has sections that feel reminiscent of E3M2: Slough of Despair and E3M4: House of Pain, both from Doom 1, would've made for a nice 1st level for a hypothetical Episode 3 if Doom 64 was episodic like Doom 1, I opted to make use of the 3rd music track that I had decided to reserve for said starting level of said hypothetical Episode 3.
