Bunnell is nice if you like the country and quiet and to see the stars at night. There is not much housing that are not southern mansions. A lot of people set up their own housing on stilts under the Hammock. Bunnell people are friendlier and there are not really many zoning restrictions. You have to take the road to Palatka to really explore Bunnell. I loved it out there. I had many students I tutored in Bunnell. There is a teeny tiny area for subsidized housing near the library. But it is not growing and it’s not ugly. Homelessness would be EXTREMELY rare in Bunnell. People set up a trailer on their land while they build a nice home. You are free in Bunnell from the rest of Flagler which is Palm Coast and full of rules and tickets got disobeying the city rules. Bunnell is relatively safe, mostly families and hard working people. It would be easy to make friends or start a business in Bunnell. Just respect them. They don’t care for city dwellers or bad manners. The children and families are more cohesive with good manners. Not overly religious, unlike many places. Just plain folks.

Flagler Beach is dirty, run down and has told of cockroaches everywhere that are so loud at night. They are all over the picnic tables spreading E. coli and eating oriole’s crumbs.
The road gets torn up every time there is a storm. There is no natural
ecology to protect Flagler Bra h. Therefore the houses are worth O.
Huntington Beach and Newport do a great job of keeping things clean. There are no cockroaches and you can walk barefoot safely.
People sleep on the beach who are homeless in Flagler Beach. The residents are so old that they don’t notice. The police don’t notice. Flagler Beach is very tiny and stinky to Huntington Beach. There is no one “attending” Flagler Beach no showers or bathrooms.or beach stands. If you think paying for parking in Huntington is a big deal, you pay for EVERYTHING in Florida. You pay for damage to other people’s property now who decide to live in more dangerous areas of Florida. Florida is now in socialized housing and car insurance since hurricane Ian.
The minimum ticket for an illegal U-turn , for example is almost $300 in Florida. If you want any Court or public services like street lights you pay for it yourself. When people leave Florida (Florida is a transient state) prices go up for everyone. The tolls are a pain. They never work and you get ticketed. I have never seen such injustices against jailed people for life in Florida who were innocent. A City near Flagler every time avoids because the police chief is nuts and arrests everyone. Californians, Orange County, you will find yourself outnumbered by New Jersey and New Yorkers. I can’t tell which kind yells at people louder, but they can be very rude and scary. The native Floridians are way tougher and don’t usually allow outsiders into their circles. Read the posts from next door.com and you will
hear stories of people who are so unhappy in Palm Coast. I taught at Bunnell Elementary. I had the smartest children in the county. Bunnell gets a bad rap. There are many wealthy and kind people in Bunnell. You can find land and have horses. It’s very beautiful with Live Oaks. Flagler Beach has no wildlife or wild Oaks left. Nothing of real Florida. They have a public square that used to have Farmer’s Markets. Flagler Beach is just a stop fue vacation or a stop on the way home to NJ. I literally have gotten ill from Flagler Beach restaurants from too many visitors coughing and sneezing. When I first saw Flagler Beach I refused to get out of the car. I thought it was gross. The sand can be like mud. The cockroaches live in the sand. I should be able to afford California soon since the taxes are so much lower. One thing about Florida people don’t know: the price is not the real price if a house. The price is what you offer to pay for it. People ask WAY more than their property is worth. Most people here are just flipping the market or buying to rent out. Most homes are not inhabited by the owner in Palm Coast. You will likely live next to a renter or two. The kind that make meth in their backyards and cackle really loudly as if they live in the country still. My Dad built his new retirement home and was depressed for 8 years because the neighbors were so bad. Drugs, dealing, weapons, loud 24/7. My Dad had the nicest home but it was not much good if your neighbors are not decent. Before I knew what backyard drug making was, there was a fire next door. They had tubes and bats and containers. 3 people died from
2 different renter groups. It was probably section 8 housing at one time. Any house can be section 8 in Florida. Some are very fancy and large. Some are in HOA’s. Anyway, the house next to my Dad was for sale recently for over one year. The buyer probably does not know it was a rental house from 2005-2024. The rental houses are not kept up well especially for underground pests or dying tress or slab cracks. So buyer beware.. I would never buy a rental house in Florida. The people who « care » for rentals are companies that really don’t care. Or, the owner doesn’t care to keep it in good condition or spray underground for termites every 5 years. Even in Flagler Beach the Governor will tell you what kind of roof you must have in order to sell it. You must disclose suicides or floods to the home. They hide things from you like storm damage or leaky copper pipes or leaky pools or leaky solar panels. It takes years to understand you may need a lawyer because the housing « market » it’s a sham. There is no market You are really buying swampland or filled in swamp land and they wait for suckers to come along who will pay full price to live in a moist stormy climate. My house is brand new-mid 2022. It already has slab cracks which roaches come through. It already has mold. We are in fire season and my mulch caught on fire from wind. The house cost over 500K plus HOA fees and we have to use dehumidifiers in nearly every room and keep closets open to prevent mold. I lived in Palm Coast for 10 years. We have owned land since 1970 here. I came home to be near my elderly parents, and was shocked how much people don’t know about year round maintenance pest control termites, short term rentals are everywhere and legal. Palm Coast is so desperate they make up short term rental contracts to please their HOA then they ask you to leave for awhile then come back to finish your year long lease. People rent homes for just a few days. It’s disgusting how many people use extra homes as Airbnb’s here. It gives Flagler a sense of “no community” and people bring their overseas roaches, spiders and bed bugs. I was bitten by a non native species of brown recluse spider from staying in a STR. Will never stay in someone’s Florida home again. I have a permanent scar from it. The buyer took a few years of treats to heal. Flagler Beach is quaint fir awhile but I hear people get bored and depressed here. You must be a nature and wild animal lover. We have no cars wild boars and animals that seem to scare people. I dunno why they are so scary but you must learn to live with bear and deer in your backyard and black widow spiders. THIS IS WHAT PALM COAST AND ANYWHERE IN FLORIDA IS. We live in the wildlife’s environment. We keep trying to create a lasting community but most places are rentals and people don’t stay. They prefer somewhere more exciting with dining in Florida. One man says he is so depressed. He wants to leave Palm Coast, but houses are hard to sell. Unless they can recruit you from other states out of desperation. We have 3 things that make money in Florida: agriculture, tourism and too much construction. The latter has made storm damage much worse. Water needs to drain and wetlands need a lot of water to cleanse themselves. It is stormy here, even more so on the beach. Loud and stormy., summer is not full of sunshine. It’s wet and humid which can make even young people ache in summer. We have 2 seasons. We used to have 3. Don’t listen to anything bad people say about Bunnell. It has almost no crime and is lovely if you enjoy the country. life. Palm Coast is becoming like the hood., Bunnell people dread going to Palm Coast. It can be distasteful. I have had a lot of dangerous incidences that probably don’t happen in other small towns like Palm
Coast. Lastly Palm Coast is a corporation like a giant. HOA. The cost of living besides homes is very high.

Most Southern California beaches you have to pay, to park your car near the beach...not so in Flagler Beach. Flagler much less crowded, also.

Yes, in fact they are parking their cars on the beach and getting swept away by tides, it’s such free parking. But it is crowded in tourist seasons and becoming too touristy. Flagler Beach has their own police squad for the 4 blocks that are there! Many do not like outsiders if they have lived there a long time. There are some homeless people who park their cars anywhere. It is not safe from surf damage. And Elon musks sonic booms and explosions can be felt all the way in Flagler beach. They are sometimes called earthquakes or sonic booms. They are failed launches that explode in the ocean. You can find it online even In Orlando they feel earthquakes from Musk’s toy rockets. It’s in online Flagler and Daytona papers. He kills so many manatees by dumping toxic stuff in the ocean. Musk’s toilet also flushes straight into the ocean which is why Cocoa Beach areas are sometimes closed and have Biblical leprosy and E. coli in the ocean water. Right next to his secret wastewater treatment plant. So sad we lost 1,000 manatees in one year.
