      He's using the attack of his tongue to accent it that way

    • @johnheywoodtrombone
      @johnheywoodtrombone Год назад

      Lots of textures can be achieved by use of the tongue and adjusting the embouchure. I play predominantly bass bone and although I've played tenor far longer, find those adjustments far easier on bass bone.

    • @HamalonHamilton
      @HamalonHamilton 3 года назад

      I know that 3 years passed but this is alto trombone. Not a slide trumpet ✌️

    • @AnthonyGarcia-lz1zc
      @AnthonyGarcia-lz1zc 2 года назад

      @@HamalonHamilton Nope. Alto trombone is a good bit bigger, and doesn't sound too different from a tenor in terms of color.
      This is Soprano Trombone/Slide Trumpet, whatever you want to call it.
      The reason the mouthpiece looks big is because its a custom make "Wybrid".

    I may be a little confused, but I don’t fully know what I’m talking about when it comes to this kind of stuff- How is he playing on that small of a trombone with such a large mouthpiece? Don’t those types of trombones usually use trumpet-like mouthpieces? Also, does anybody know the names of the mouth piece and trombone (I believe it’s a soprano trombone) that he uses? I’m very interested😏

    • @dawsongreene460
      @dawsongreene460 5 лет назад

      I may be wrong, but I think it's something he had designed for it, and it's a piccolo trombone

    • @aprilbrumfield9648
      @aprilbrumfield9648 5 лет назад

      @@dawsongreene460 Yes the mouthpiece is made for him, but available for purchase on his website. It's a hybrid or "wybrid" with a trombone rim and trumpet shank.

    • @aprilbrumfield9648
      @aprilbrumfield9648 5 лет назад

      Wycliffe's own mouthpiece with a trombone rim and trumpet shank. You can purchase on his website. The soprano trombone was made for him. Also available for purchase for the amateur musician at BAC.

    • @johnheywoodtrombone
      @johnheywoodtrombone Год назад

      Soprano trombone is pitched like a trumpet, so an octave higher than a normal/tenor trombone. However, thus hybrid mouthpiece others talk about gives him added textures blending contrasts of trombone and trumpet.
