Hey there, thanks for tuning in👍 Disclaimer:All 3 malls listed are unique and serve different purposes. I thought to share my experience and this shouldn't be used as a yardstick. Different people, different choices, different experiences😊
Yes, you're right... different malls different demographics. Visit the following malls too...The Hub, Water Front, Galleria (all in Karen), TRM, Garden City (Thika Road), Sarit Center, Westgate mall (Westlands), Imaara mall, Nextgen mall, Capital Center, Gateway mall (Mombasa Road) Yaya Centre, The Junction mall (Kilimani/ Ngong Road) All these malls serve their niche customers. Enjoy Nairobi ❤
There are tonnes of cinemas in Nairobi. The Junction; Prestige; Sarit; Westgate and the Village Market all have cinemas just to mention a few. Two Rivers gets very little footfall and has a limited number of stores, despite its size. I have not been to BBS so I cannot comment. The Village Market is one of my favorite malls. Both the Village Market and Sarit have stores that you won’t find elsewhere. The other malls tend to have stores you will find elsewhere. Malls are about convenience it depends on what you are going to the mall for. If it’s for shopping diversity of stores matters (at least to me) so I pick the mall that has the biggest variety of stores when I don’t have time. Also there are certain types of goods you won’t find in the market so it depends on what you want to buy.
You forgot several bigger malls than those 3 you've mentioned...The hub in karen, Westgate in westlands, Sarit in westlands, the junction, galleria, waterfront mall, and more
Sarahbee actually most Kenyans like Nigerians shop in kiosks and local markets however Kenya being a very touristy a country with lots of expatriates has to cater for them...in the process drawing in well to do Kenyans.
We shop in kiosks if we have one.nearby and you're just getting a few items. Otherwise for major shopping and variety the malls will work best for most.
I wonder why rich East Africans go for shopping in Dubai.....Yet Kenya has multiple excellent malls well stocked with many international brands. Anyone who knows why ??
Next time you visit Kenya and want to ask for direction, please ask the youth coz this old people will give you Zimbabwe. Kenya is currently developing so waste and Traffic would be an issue in the next 5 to six years.
I don't understand why people can't just enjoy what they have without competing. Size of the mall doesn't matter as long as you can get what you want. Kenyan mentality is all about being practical. We don't need to flex to prove anything
I have only been to the village market, reason why they have very many foreigners is coz the UN, and other foreign embassies are located towards that side and the majority leave on that side.
Princess, you are losing that West African accent. Occasionally it snicks in, but otherwise, if not familiar with your content, one would think you are Kenyan
It closed down. South African retailers kinda find it hard cutting it in the Kenyan market especially if their quality is lower than the average Kenyan stores. Shoprite only survives in countries with poorly developed retail markets.
All SA franchises from supermarkets to eateries were driven out of Kenya! They couldn't match Kenyans' high demand of quality and customer service standards. They had to go!
