As a software engineer making a decent amount of money, I'm no stranger to lifestyle creep. It can obliterate your finances if you're not careful, but you could also forget to live your life if you worry about it too much. A balance must be struck for this one! Наука
As someone looking to get started with software engineering, watching videos like this is always so motivating. Keep up the great work!
1:52 thought we wouldn't see that fire transition 🔥 haha . Great video, man
I’m trying to sprinkle some cinematic stuff in here and there 💪🏾😂
Crazy that he ends the vid with a possible giveaway of his things, just shows that he's fr about his values ie. experiences > material
As a aspiring software engineer this video is super motivating. Keep up the good work man.
I just subscribed. Your channel is fun to watch and will definitely help on my journey to become a software engineer too!
Thanks fam 🤞🏾
Leaving a comment for the algorithm, liking your content.
really inspiring man , left the video with no sense of pressure, but with inspiration to adjust and grow .... Thank you DEV the dev.😄🙏🙏
I got my Tesla because I promised myself I would when I could reasonably afford it. I never drove a new car until I got to that point. Sometimes I am hard on myself for the decision but I think we must do things for ourselves. Keep up the great work and thank you for this transparent video. Balance is key!
Just discovered this channel. Vibes are on point 🔥🔥🔥
Transition game soooo crazy
can see you put hella effort into this, W video bro 🤝
Thank you bro 💪🏾
As always real simple and inspiring thanks a lot bro keep it up ❤
This video just made my morning commute enjoyable!
watching dose of devy while doing computer science assignments 🔥🔥
Damn. This is actual good content.
Son really spoke about my life
😂😂😂
new sub here, excellent video and definitely checking out Notion, since I can agree the lifestyle creep got me too lol
You're growing so fast. I love it. You're one of my favorite channels. I'm currently in a bit of a problem where I almost have a SWE job guaranteed but it's not what I want, not remote, mainly backend work. Do you take the job you don't want over waiting for a job to roll along? Idk. Thanks if you read this.
bro take the job brother just by looking at the job market i'd take in a heartbeat
Take the job. Consider it a stepping to the next opportunity. Jobs are scarce so if you snag one, you should take it
Also thanks for watching fam!
@@doseofdevy Thanks for the advice, I think I've only got the opportunity because of my experience at Missile Defense Agency. I suppose I can at least say I'm employed and get experience under my belt then apply to something I enjoy later.
@@TwoBlackCats42 yeah exactly!

Just subscribed! Love the editing style and format of your videos! Ive been only trading the futures market for a while but your videos have definitely inspired me to try and go back to college to finish my computer science degree. Its either that or a degree in the business field. Do you think being a software engineer would take too much time from having a business on the side?
Yo thank you for watching fam! Honestly it depends where you work, some companies are more laid back than others
The intro is fire brother! Subbed. Deffo a good topic to talk about for a video too (once i get better)
Thanks for the sub!
@@doseofdevy all good! Binge watching now🤣 you got X / Twitter bro?
These Transitions are dope broo🥵🥵
Thank you 🤞🏾💪🏾
Excellent video, Black man!!! 💜
Your energy is fantastic!
Btw the discord link your bio has expired ~ can you drop a new one on there if you're still active on there, please?
Thank you! I just fixed the link, feel free to try again
20k subs = vlog (but done in your style of content creating)
Let’s gooooooooo
💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Could you move out of nyc and still be working at that same company? Like you could theoretically move to the other side of the world and work from there ?
I could move to the other side of the country, but my pay will be readjusted based on the COL in my new area
I think 50k before mid year!
hey bro, can you tell what languages/framework/libraries/tools you learnt and use. (kinda roadmap)
JavaScript/Typescript
React.js/Next.js
CSS
HTML
PostgreSQL
Express.js
Node.js
This is pretty much everything
Any advice on getting a software engineer job in this era, I’ve been struggling!
You have to do everything in your power to try and standout. That means having a portfolio that sticks out to recruiters, and a resume tailored specifically to each position you apply to. Every bullet point on your resume should have a purpose that relates back to a requirement or qualification on the job listing. It’s little stuff like that that gives you an edge
2:30 i see that naruto figure
I got it in Japan!

What did you do to become a software engineer?
Check out my latest video!
@@doseofdevy Will do man! I’m in the process of starting my journey.
This is a pretty high quality Notion ad.
That’s what I was going for 😂
Bro my elder brother earns about 350k dollars a year as a software engineer in meta silicon valley. Can you earn this amount of money in new york? Plz reply. Thanks a lot.
Even tho this has an ad
And i respect it of course
But you have to say that this video is sponsored
There’s a widget at the top left of the video that specifies there’s a sponsor
Also I actually do use Notion, so the video would have been identical with or without the sponsorship
@@doseofdevy the widget isn't there for me for some reason
Maybe a RUclips bug hehe
Notion is great anyways
i guess you talk about how much you earn from youtube when you hit the 20k

This video is only about the advertisement and not for the viewers. Thanks. Unsubscribed.
I wrote the video first and then the advertisement. What made it seem like it was all an ad?
