This song IS triumphant. Even though the lyrics are so bleak, he's still surviving and pushing forward. The background music just reinforces this. He's so dissillusioned with life, and he keeps falling back into the mud, but he always pulls himself out. This song is a damned masterpiece.
"can't believe life take this long" the first few times i heard this line i teared up. for anyone who's ever thought of ending it all, it captures the despair of utter boredom at your own life, the malaise of it all. asking, "when will it be over?" without even having the energy to do it yourself. it might be the strongest lyric ride's written, for me. i'm in a bit better of a place now, and i hope he is too. i hope anyone reading this and feeling similar is also in a better place.
Never thought I'd hear something like Centuries of Damn on a DG project. That song is the best on the album IMO. Best they've sounded since The Money Store.
Money Store is great for two reasons, it sounds good and also is the best album for first-time listeners to listen to. It's pretty accessible, especially with songs like "I've Seen Footage" and shite.
After thinking of a meaning for this song, I have come to a conclusion. This song is about waiting for the end. For centuries, humans have been waiting for the end instead of taking advatage of the time we have. He talks about how we communicate and talks from different viewpoints. However he muddles this in nonsense lines just as we do, hiding our true feelings throigh a smokescreen of everyday roitine and life. Truly inspiring to me.
