A lot of people are falling for the Amygdaloidal Basalt “Galaxy Stone” lately and I remembered that I would always walk past them. It wasn’t until I showed a really big one and left it behind and you said I should get them and cut them open that I tried it. And boom! They were bloody amazing man! 7:46 Such cracks can be caused by too much heat during polishing.
A few Tips to make polishing easier for you:
A hard felt Disc with Alumina is ideal for polishing Agates. If you use a stand or a base for the Machine, it will be more comfortable to work and you will have better control over the Stone.
A small container for a slow but continuous addition of water on the disc is extremely helpful and saves you a lot of Time✌

The small cracks can usually be grinded away without any problems, they are only superficial.

I just got my tile saw and blade. Getting set up to start cutting some small pieces. I think I will have to work on arm/hand strength for the larger ones. Or show my brother how it's done. I don't yet have a polishing set up (that's coming with my next stimulus check). I can hardly wait.
I have so many great stones collected just in my small rural neighborhood; mostly from construction sites. And, one of the local gas stations is landscaped with the most beautiful stones you can imagine: pet. wood, jaspers of all colors and agates galore, all looking to be from this general geologic area. I only get one or two every couple of weeks. I don't want to be too obvious.
You did a great job. Beautiful work on these stones. I'm jealous. Lol

I am also polishing rocks with those pads, but I use a dril in a stand so it is stadier. And i built a structure whit a watering system and a water collection container. So I have no dust at all and I stay clean and dry. I love you see doing it. I got a special polishing pad fore the last stage from a oficial polishing shop. Love the fact you find your own rocks and polish. I don't have that possibility unfortunately. Because there is nothing to find in my country. My profile picture is at that gem shop I got the polishing pad.
Oh awesome! On a drill works just as well hey. I think I should look out for a polishing pad especially for that purpose. I forget just how lucky I am to live in an area that I can find these types of rocks. So lucky!

I loved all your polished beauties! But that rhyolite is out of this world!!! I was thinking it looked like Van Goh !! All your hard work really paid off! Beautiful specimens! Your free form agate with the "worms" in it is called a Dendrite agate. Very nice!

You're on the right track, but dendrites are almost 2 dimensional, as they form from minerals percolating in via fractures. They fan out wherever they can, but they happen after the agate is mostly or totally complete. These tubes occur while the vesicle still contains gel nearly to the edge, therefore much earlier.
Dendritic agate and opals are some of my favorites 😍😍

I’m so glad you approved of the polishes from what you saw on the video man. There’s sometimes very tiny itty bitty swirl scratches but you have to look really hard and close in the right light. The polish actually helped get rid of them this time which was awesome!
But yeah dude, you’re definitely not alone in the enjoyment of such a rad pass time.

Wow pretty stones 😍 You just put out so much info that I needed. I wanted to try to find affordable equipment and easier to use. I always thought I needed a flat lap. I love my wet tile saw, works like a charm! I want to try the sander you used for sure. I have seen some anchor it to vice grip. So glad I found this and will start following. I'm hooked to fossil hunting and rock hounding! Btw... Please wear goggles, dust particles can get into your respiratory system through your eyes too (microbio major). And love your pup! 😀

Another great video. I have been cutting and polishing for about 6 months now and loving it. I love going to the beaches and searching for the perfect cutting rock suspects. And it's all because of you! I regularly watch a number of rock hound channels but you were the first. I've been tumbling for a few years now as well. In a perfect world we could do a little hounding together at each other's favorite spot, but for now I'll keep enjoying your great videos.

You re-attached the beautiful green "marble" on your galaxy stone 5:36! So glad you did, it absolutely makes the piece. Love it! Love all the polishes, especially the little planet. It's mesmerizing to look at. I'm just now starting to experiment with polishing the outer shell without cutting. There's definitely a learning curve.

Rookie my sweet! Thank you thank you thank you! Ive learnt so much watching your videos, and now I know how to make my leather polisher! I dont have any tin oxide, but found a product called barkeeps' friend, which seems to bring up a fair polish on my quartz polishes. Sadly, I havent found agates like yours, but SA has its own brands of lovliness which I will share as soon as I get a chance! one thing I can recommend about your struggle gripping the rocks, is gloves!! ribbed no-slip rubber gloves will save you a ton of time you spend chasing after and searching for rocks that escape your fingers! lol
