    I needed this. My fiance has a long time girl friend, and when I met her I knew in the pit of my stomach it wasn't right. In 3 years she never tried to get to know me. He won't let that go for me, even though it makes me so uncomfortable. I'm so glad I saw this video.

    Personally, I have never had a guy friend who hasn't tried to express his romantic feelings for me. I am never attracted to them and I only see them as my bro, but then they always wanna mess things up by telling me that they "caught feelings for me, they love me, they wanna marry me, they can't picture their life without me in it" etc. I'm just like, "Oh Brother, Here We Go Again."
    So ya, in my own experience I have not yet witnessed any guy being content only being my friend.

      yes that is true but there are guys that are out there who only wants to be your friends. its just hard finding them and realistically one should not look for them. Feelings change when a guy falls in love with his wife and you fall in love then there should not be a reason to not be friends. As they say only when the mission is completed will I have time to hang with friends and loved one.

      I relate to this too Kristina, to the point that the Lord continued to show me that I cant have men as friends, as they view me as someone for romantic interest, no matter how many boundaries I set, I end up getting hurt in the end, cos they wanted more and I tried to apply boundaries yet it didn't work. I believe God is clear that we have healthy boundaries with the opposite sex, some can do it, but its a lot more rare than we think. I believe if there is fellowship in a group setting or couples going out together that is a different story, but we can be also accountable if we make our fellow man stumble, even though we may apply boundaries, we shouldn't have tight knitted fships with the opposite sex, that is reserved for our husbands, that is what the Lord has revealed to me.

    I recall going to church w/ my ex best friend. I eventually joined the church. The day I joined I asked the Pastor (male) if we could have a sit down to formally introduce ourselves. I wanted them to know my struggles and my goals etc. I asked his wife as well to join us. I didn’t want to give off any impression of evil/wrongdoing/sin. I know people gossip and I didn’t want to give the devil any foothold to start false rumors. During the conversation between the 3 of us, his wife thanked me for being mindful and inviting her in. The Pastor became like a father figure to myself and many of the other young women at the church. About a year later the Pastor confessed to committing adultery in his marriage and they were going through a divorce. I was shocked but also thankful that I had obeyed the Holy Spirit when He told me not to be alone in a room w/ a closed door w/ a married man. I tried to get my ex bestie to do the same but she said she didn’t think it was that serious. Well of course the wife accused her and a lot of other women of messing w/ her husband because they would always meet w/ only him. It’s about respect and honoring God with our actions as well as others.

    My guy friends and I are JUST FRIENDS. It's been that way for over a decade with both of them. We've met each other's spouses and children. We respect each other's relationship by not calling and texting late at night to show respect. I've never been attracted or acted on any attraction for them because the feelings weren't there. They are genuinely good friends who give me advice from a guy's perspective. Women and men CAN BE friends. People who say they can't have never experienced a platonic relationship with the opposite sex, so they don't believe it can happen. Key word is being up front from the beginning, not hiding anything from your mate. Hiding does not suggest that it's a platonic relationship. And these days, you have to mindful of BOTH sexes..not just the opposite sex...

    Thank you for uploading!! I dealt with this recently with my husband. There's a girl he worked with (she MAY be lesbian but if she isn't, I think she likes my husband lol) and one night he came to pick me up and he was on the speaker phone with her and she was venting about their workplace. I didn't think much of it at first (it's a very high stress industry that I can't always relate to and he is her superior so it made sense she would go to him with a problem) but the Lord told me to tell him to be careful with her. That a random vent session may turn into a weekly or a daily vent session and she'll look to him for a friendly ear and advice and then that could lead to attraction down the road. He said he had never thought of it that way but was respectful towards me and they text occasionally but within a group text with other coworkers. It seemed to work for us and I like her just fine and she's really sweet to me but I know when emotions are involved it can be a slippery slope. Such a great topic! Thank you!

    I enjoyed this conversation. I think the key word here is discernment, especially when you're just dating/courting. I've seen situations where women are actually just jealous and I've seen others where they have a reason to be worried. Discernment is key. And yes, I still believe single men and single women can be platonic friends.

    I'd known this guy since I was born. I'm 19 now. I thought we were on the same page, since we were basically brother and sister and our parents have known each other since they themselves were children.
    And he just told me he wants to be more than friends.
    Now, watching this, I've realised there's others in the same situation.

    I really enjoyed this! The last thing that was said about a girl breaking up a relationship that she didn't want to, then meeting her husband really spoke to me. I was in a relationship with a Christian ,who later in our relationship chose to be Atheist, for 3 years. The Lord had been telling me to break it off so I finally did in December. However I still wanted to be friends so we have still been hanging out together weekly. He admitted that he still loved me and still could see a marriage with me possibly. And I still had lingering feelings but stayed firm on us just staying friends. I've been praying for a strong man of God as my future husband and I'm afraid God won't reveal him to me until I let go of this friendship....

    I believe girls and guys can be 'just' friends. I mean friends with no emotional attachment to each other. But guys and girls shouldn't be close friends / best friends. It may complicate things. Looking back I can say I had many guy friends at certain seasons of my life and thing is we fell out of friendship afterwards

    Depends on who you're asking. If you ask an unbeliever most likely they will answer no. But if you ask christians, the answer should be yes. Christian men are supposed to treat our Christian women as sisters with all honor and purity.
    (1 Timothy. 5:1-3).
    So, as Christian men and women regardless of attraction or not we are members of the household of faith and the family of God first. And we should obey the Word of God in how we relate to one another and not set aside His precepts and commandments. Anything else is carnal, sin and rebellion.
    Amen. Praise God.
    Jesus is LORD. 👑

      Minister Tracey Smith I agree 100%. My brother in Christ is just that to me. He even told me he prayed that God sends me the right man because I'm such a catch lol. I think he is a catch as well, but we both know that marriage isn't Gods will for our friendship. It's really that simple.

    • @jessicapettway88
      @jessicapettway88 8 лет назад +27

      Minister Tracey Smith We'll I'm a Christian and I would have to disagree. there is a difference in having a sister in christ and having a friend of the opposite sex. Just because I love you with the love of the Lord does not mean we are spending personal alone time together, we are having convos on the phone, texting each other and all the other things that friends do

    • @ToshiJ89
      @ToshiJ89 8 лет назад +6

      Minister Tracey Smith Amen. I agree while heartedly. There's a certain level of maturity that goes with it as well. I've had more male friends than female friends. All are consisted brothers to me. I look at then like I look at my bro. The thought of crossing that line is sick in my mine.

    • @owiley2002
      @owiley2002 7 лет назад +1

      That is true but the key here is there a natural desire to be husband and wife in either person mind. Even from outside the relationship others will ask will is so and so not married or why can't they be married? Now the answer for the question is going to be internally made with little control over that answer you either consider someone good enough to be a wife/ husband or you don't. Guys who are friends with girls do control there urge to be with that girl. We can that not falling for temptation. A friend is one where there is no temptation.

    I really enjoy the discussions of this topic. Before my husband and I were dating, he had a female friend that he hung out with all the time! They had all the same classes and hung out with another friend a lot too. Then we did start dating, and One day while in bible college, he took her to her married friends house to hang out with this married couple. I was SO angry! They got in the car and left in front of me and 20+ people!😦 I also had a guy friend that I talked to sometimes... we never went out anywhere alone, took pictures together or anything . We always talked outside the doorms where we could be seen. My husband got mad at me for talking to this guy bc he felt like this guy liked me..I didn't get that vibe at all bc he had a huge crush on my friend. I reminded him of his adventures with his female friend and he said "it's not the same. We're definitely just friends." I always hate the arguments after "it's not the same." We were both very agitated and it seemed like he didn't understand that if I can't talk to my guy friend, then he DEFINITELY can't take off in his car with his female friend even If they're for sure "just friends." I also got the "well we talk about you a lot" from him, but that didn't matter. Long story short, even though the transition was VERY awkward bc they still wanted to hang out and have fun like they always did, we did get over it, and we both understand that having that "best friend" of the opposite sex just DOESN'T WORK like that. His female friend and I actually became best friends! and over 5 years later, we still are! 🙂 I enjoyed your Show, Heather!

    I enjoyed this episode! It's sooo much that can be said about this topic. Heather, with the exception of the survey in the beginning, have you considered in the future getting more people of different ages and backgrounds to speak from their viewpoint? Sometimes, it helps to get both a mature and immature viewpoint on things, so the audience can see the difference, and therefore make a wise decision when it comes to having "friends". Kinda like what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:11 about when he became a man, he had to put away childish things. Some people have an immature viewpoint to things. Thankfully. your viewpoint, along with your guest were mature in my opinion. God bless you!💕

    It's all about TRUST and being committed to your partner and not allowing the friends to intervene in the relationship. It's good to know that person friend. Secrets and white lies can screw stuff up. Get to know everything about your partner, even their friends. I made a video on my channel called "Friendly or Flirting"
    Hopefully it'll help someone.

    I don't think men and women can be friends, unless we are fellowshipping in a group environment, or going out as couples, I believe the Lord will also knit us to the right friendships in due season, but what the Lord revealed to me was, that I couldn't be friends with the opposite sex (men) as they always viewed me as a possible romantic interest despite my boundaries, it just cant work, there is always someone that wants more than a friendship. After being so heartbroken from these fships ending, I realized I could no longer keep that door open to men anymore, the Lord revealed that we are only to have such close and intimate relations to the Husband the Lord has for us, and even though I may have been innocent in the Fship, I am also accountable for making a man stumble due to the closeness I was giving him (Called Fship), sometimes we create unnecessary soul ties that the Lord never asked us to do, so we need to be more discerning who comes into our lives and also how we walk our lives in our singleness period. Men in rships and marriages are meant to be Protectors/Gatekeepers and they too also need to apply strong boundaries when dealing with women in the work place or Fships they have created, otherwise they can cause allsorts of stumbling blocks.

    ABSOLUTELY they can IF their desire is to please the Lord and boundaries are set and they remain within those boundaries (referring to if 1 or both individuals are married and are believers) Also, if they are open to their spouse(s) about it by letting them know about their friendship for accountability/transparency. Good, true friendships are hard to find, so when you find a true friend, you shouldn't have to give it up once you respect and honour boundaries. Also, that's where trust is important in a relationship. Also, if a spouse is insecure, they may have a problem with this, but it definitely is possible to be friends & conduct that friendship with purity, integrity, honour in a way that pleases the Lord and is respectful to your spouse! i cant help but feel that some pieces of the commentary, yes, exude wisdom, but they also exude a hint of jealousy and insecirity relatinoship and minsitry wise. for example: I do agree that there is a need to be keeper of he home, but does that mean that a man cannot pray for a woman at all? Is that even scriptural? I don't beleive it is.Jesus was good friends with Martha and Mary for example. Also, sometimes people are weary of friends due to their own insecurities. It would be important to note this in terms of cross gender relationships.

      jemstone0006 "if that's her current Conviction she has a right to be protective of her husband. if you think she needs more revelation pray for her to receive more revelation in the area. We are to rebuke gently not harshly or as if we are right. Pray for them to receive revelation from God if It is scriptural. Paul to the church in Corinthians told women not to speak at all. He was writing to the specific problems in that church in Corinthians but we see people apply it and attack Heather, Joyce Meyer etc forgetting the context. In the same way Heathers past experience may require her to guard her husband jealously and in his time he will set her free from this. Let's love others and pray for them to receive more revelation. She said" nothing is set In stone" here so I think Heather knows that her experiences and how they shape her thinking + discernment are based on her life.

    I think guys and girls couple be friends such as I'm married they are married a double date kind of friends and maybe so devoted Christian male friends. But I have always had guys friends that would say ohhh I like you and etc. And I would have to leave the friendship. And as believer ask god if it is okay if they could be your friend.

    Those girls in the beginning need to put down those text books and open up that bible because no girl in her right(eousness) mind can say a girl and guy can be "just friends" 😂♥️📖🔥

    No! God says when an unmarried woman and man are alone, the third amongst them is the devil!
