I was doing art more for fun (at that time) and Gary was creating advertising... I asked him when he knew his ads were done. He turned and said, "art is never done... it's just "due."

I suspect you’d have learned a lot about the composition, color choices, and figured out some techniques that were improved upon with repetition that would have a better 10 hour now than the first go around.

    "time pays off, who woulda thought it."
    This exactly. I am really impressed and really in love with this video because you managed to show the difference via timelapse in quality vs quantity as a manufacturer of custom designs but also showed those that don't realize the amount of time and effort that goes into an art piece in order to make it really something. Even the 1 hour and 10 hour paintings have their value. While also showing clearly not as much as the 100 hour one. For everyone out there willing to admit time is money at least half think the time spent on art isn't worth the money. You've managed to prove through visuals that it undoubtedly is and how much time and care is spent regardless of it it's an hour, 10 hours, or 100 hours. I find that to be fantastic and I hope I can use it the next time someone asks me or anyone else to "do it for exposure!" Or "it's not worth that much." ❤️🥰❤️

      @Apprentice Mage Needed yes, to write prompts, photobash AI created images together, and touch them up digitally. I would hardly call that "passionate work". Lot of newspaper have moved into using MJ illustrations, instead of human ones. The reader won't notice a thing. Have you even used MJ or worked in the commercial art field? I have. Also most of my friends work in commercial art, and majority of them are depressed about MJ. Even when they didn't lose their jobs yet. It's eating away our self-worth, when from respected craftmen we become just a secondary asssistants, who fix up AI work. This is just transition phase, human assistance is needed less and less as the self learning AI improves... you'll see. It will be voice controlled later, where you can do real-time changes to the details. Just like AD is guiding a graphic designer.. Companies don't give a crap who makes their pretty and relatively meaningless everyday art, you may think it's not "real art" anyway but it's currently hundreds of thousands of jobs, that will be gone. It's the main way someone in art can make a living... people have such idealistic and stupid ideas about "making a living as an artist" like everyone is some Da Vinci making meaningful and political art in their chamber...99% works for commercial art field, creating pretty but rather meaningless 2D illustrations and layouts... that's their job, if they want to make "artsy art" they mostly do it on their spare time... those jobs will be gone

    Now this… it would look so nice next to the other print 😱🎨💕

    One thing about this as well is that each successive attempt you get to determine the things you liked/disliked about the previous attempts. So you can plan to make changes in style/composition, foreground/background etc. I love this format every time I see someone do it. But I also think it'd be interesting to see someone just do the same image three times with say like 10 hours each time. And see if maybe the first time you went a little harder on the lighting and shadows, and then you take a step back and realize it's a little hyper realistic and you don't prefer it, and then on your second attempt you find a mix of colors you really like, but don't have enough time to really play with it, so on your third attempt you have all the planning and experience and trial and error of the previous two attempts to nail down what you love. That way each painting is more easily comparable than 1,10,100 hr where it's like yeah of course you're going to be searching for details to add in 100 hours, while struggling to finish in 1 hour.

    moral of the story: Its never "too less" or "too much" time. just take the time you need an challenge yourself to put as many details as you can think of. all the paintings turned out awesome! Also there's just so much you can do in one hour. But still it would be really interesting for sure!

  • @Joe___R
    @Joe___R 2 года назад +111

    That would definitely be a nice print to do. There is an amount of time where after that you don't really get any meaningful additions to a painting of that size but it greatly depends on the painter & the subject. For you painting that exact painting again it would be 200 hours. For Bob Ross it would be 4 hours.

    This just made me cry. Literally. There's such a rush in almost everything these days thanks to the overall system, values of society, the marketability of a product, the pressure of making a living etc. etc. So I love that this comparison is not done with the aim to add marketability as a factor. It (unfortunately) is a huge factor normally, but... who doesn't want to make art for the art itself at least once! The 100 hours result is awesome!

    The whole concept of this painting is amazing in this 100 hours. I can already see the story of this world, which is like a fantasy epic full of tragedy, loss, hope and mystery. As if this is some mystical place full of spirits of fallen warriors whose swords are stuck around a tree and this knight has come for guidance or to pray because this is perhaps some holy place for knights without a purpose or a path to follow. That's why I think many possibilities and stories can be told only from this painting, but it all depends on the amount of inspiration and imagination for such an idea, although a few come to mind already, but it needs a lot of thinking because I am sure that a very good story can be created from this painting if someone wants to write it or draw it because any way of telling the story would be a challenge.
