The best part of this song is that it was written last-minute to fill a couple minutes on the album. To think that if War Pigs or Iron Man had been like two minutes longer we wouldn't have had this song.

This is correct. Before leaving the studio, the manager asked the band if they could come up with a 2 1/2 to 3 minute song, because one side of the album was going to be a bit short. In less than an hour they wrote and recorded Paranoid.

      @briandeadmarsh7538 3 года назад +11

@@fapmashina1 True that! Paranoid was first released as a single and became a big hit. So management, without informing the band, changed the title of the album, which was suppose to be called War Pigs, to Paranoid, figuring they would sell more records that way. That's why the album title is Paranoid, but the guy on the cover is a representation of a war criminal, or war pig.

Have we ever steered you wrong, young man? I love your reaction to the end- "oh, it's over? What?". Watching you trying to find a way to describe how this leaves you feeling is wonderful. You're discovering that "genre" labels are crap- the walls you were taught don't exist, and you're learning this. Throw them away, because every great band is a genre unto itself. When you're great, you write your own rules. Not so great is what you are when the label says "you are THIS, and you will comply with our checklist". Nah, eff that noise.
If this made you feel Thor-ish, stay with Sabbath. Ironman. Then Blue Oyster Cult, Godzilla.

This is such an awesome song. I've enjoyed it so many times, listening to the classic rock radio stations before school or on the bus to a football game to hype myself up.

School counselor: “Today we are letting you students share your struggles with mental health and how you cope.”
Girls: “I got anxious because I lost my notebook at lunch.”
Boys: “Finished with my woman 'cause
She couldn't help me with my mind
    People think I'm insane because
I am frowning all the time
All day long I think of things
    But nothing seems to satisfy
    Think I'll lose my mind
If I don't find something to pacify
    Can you help me
    Occupy my brain?
    Oh yeah
I need someone to show me
The things in life that I can't find
I can't see the things that make
True happiness, I must be blind
Make a joke and I will sigh
And you will laugh and I will cry
    Happiness I cannot feel
And love to me is so unreal
And so as you hear these words
Telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life
I wish I could but it's too late”

You should do a reaction to Jethro Tull, "Thick as a brick". I saw the band in the 70's. They put on an unbelievable concert. Your reactions are great. Also Stevie Ray Vaughan with Albert King is the best

If you want superhero by Black Sabbath, you need to check out Iron Man,. If you saw the movie you heard at least part of it.
Edit: checked the spelling. Two words.

Just grab the first four Black Sabbath albums; Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and listen to them in order. Those four albums literally changed music and inspired so many bands it's almost easier to find the ones that AREN'T influenced by Black Sabbath than it is to name the ones that are.
Read up on the guitar player, Tony Iommi, too. Like 3 days before he was leaving his job to play in the band for a living, he got the tip of two of his fingers cut off in a work accident, so he melted down dishsoap bottles, made his own fingertips, put leather on them so they could grip the strings like skin, and just went on playing!

Your forgetting Vol. 4, which is actually the 4th album. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath was their 5th, so check out all 5. And maybe Sabotage too. Just listen to them all.
