@@seelenwinter6662exactly. I hate when people try to say anything different. People say “deep purple created heavy metal” when that is the farthest thing from the truth, deep purple had a rock sound but NOT metal. Black Sabbath created Heavy metal period.

The entire Paranoid album is just a classic that is basically the birth of heavy metal but seriously has a lot of hard rock progressive based sounds. It's just incredible music. Bill Ward (drums) was always a highly influential drummer and could beat a 6 piece kit like it was owing EVERYONE money. Geezer Buttler is no slouch on the bass either.

You can't get more iconic than this one! When I was 12, my 17 year-old sister was dating a big Sabbath fan, he was the first to play this for me and it blew my mind - I played the crap out of that record all summer long. Some straight-ahead, hard-hitting metal magic right here - keep on rocking!🤘
I was 8 or 9 - my best friend's uncle lived in their (semi-converted) garage - he was a biker and re-offender - this music scared the sh*t out of me, but I was more than intrigued
I ain't going lie. You guys have the best reaction channel around. First, you are hitting all the heavy weights or rock, hard rock, and metal. On top of that, you guys are picking up the thing we noticed when we first heard these tunes.
Ward takes all of the Sabbath songs to another level. His beats and fills are iconic.
Speaking of iconic, you need to do Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. He is considered by many one of greatest singers in metal history and took Sabbath to another level.
Check out Heaven and Hell, but the song "Sign of the Southern Cross" is IMO, the greatest song in metal history. I am sure many will agree. It's incredible!

My Grandmama took me to the record store with my Christmas money when I was 11. This is what I chose. Almost randomly. Like that weird album cover spoke to me. I had to look up "paranoid" in the encyclopedia dictionary. The music was self explanatory though. I remember my grandma going "you sure?". Best Christmas money I ever spent, really.

Bonham, and Ian Paice were my drum instructors. Needle to vinyl over and over and over and....I still crank the p.a. and monitors in basement and jam to this stuff when not working on current band set list

Not sure if you already have heard this: Tony Iommi (the guitarist) had an accident with a sheet metal sheer before joining Black Sabbath, resulting in the loss of the tips of two fingers on his fretboard hand (his right, he played left-handed). He fashioned his own prosthetic fingertips, originally from the tips from pool cues; This actually adds to his greatness, as they act kinda like mini slides, and make his sound the unique joy that it is. In some videos you can see them, and once you know they're there, you'll notice them in the sound as well. Another thing about Tony: he played with Jethro Tull before joining Sabbath.

This can't be true, can it? I mean, I'm sure you aren't lying. But how did I not hear of this, being around 12 when this album came out, and having a 3 year older brother who was a big rocker? Cool story.
@@tommythompson9565 It's true, at least for the most part, my memory might be inaccurate on some parts (such as exactly when it happened), but you can search on it and probably get something very similar. I didn't know it myself until sometime in the 90's, but it does explain his unique sound.

@@tommythompson9565 I looked at Wiki and some other sites, and they don't mention the pool cue tips, thought I'm certain I heard it somewhere...but plastic dishsoap caps is also pretty strange and inventive. He probably used something custom made later, I saw one pic where whatever he had had fingernails painted on. :D

Bill Ward is a beast! As some have mentioned, criminally underrated.
I made the mistake of borrowing this 8 track from a friend when I was 16 in 1973 and driving alone out in the woods of the Addick's Reservoir outside of Houston, Texas at zero dark thirty. This song was playing when I drove past the "blue-light" cemetery for the first time that was supposed to glow from the swamp gas. When I saw the reflection of the tail lights of my '66 Chevelle off a sign in my rear-view mirror I nearly crapped my pants!

1968... I am 14 years old at the "Strawberry Festival" in O.C. Calif.. and saw this band live. After doing a show in San Diego, on the bus to L.A. they were told about the festival, so they stopped, seeing a stage Ozzy Volunteered to play a couple, they had the guitars and a drum kit was there... So.. Unscheduled, unannounced, unexpected. Black Sabbath did.... "Iron Man"... "Paranoid"... "The Wizard"... "War Pigs"... to about a crowd of 5,000.... It was awesome. Right place at the right time.

A favorite of mine and millions of others for over 50 years.
"This is a real gangster record" I guess that was about what our parents had in mind back around 1970. I heard the three albums: Black Sabbath's Paranoid, Deep Purple in rock, and Santana's Abraxas at a friends house in one afternoon. At that time I was already familiar with Led Zeppelin 1+2, Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, and Zappa. But I thought: How could it possibly be heavier...? ...and did it?
im one of those parents, im 69....they are still my favorite band, simply for what they created, their originality, and of course their talent!!!

Great song, trend setting album and all time legends, you hit another classic tune. Their influence continues to this day. Try Electric Funeral off the same album but you guys should hear their first 6 albums in their entirety, one great track after another. Not just another Rock Band but Pop Culture Ikons! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
This was the second concert I went to, when I was 16 years old. I still have the album, although I haven't put it on the turntable in decades.

Much like Zeppelin, Sabbath is a 3 Man Band with a vocalist who plays Harmonica. Massive talents.

This came out when I was about 13. Me and my friends would robo-call (with dial up phones) the radio request line to get them to play this song.
For young learning musicians , this was just easy enough to be reachable to learn but just hard enough to feel you had upped your game!

My first sabbath song in 75...Never stopped loving them...If you go through their discography NOT ONE SINGLE SONG IS ALIKE...EVERY SONG IS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT.. Caps for emphasis...
If you slow down Paranoid, it is the same riff as Planet Caravan....
NOTHING is heavier than that main riff from Wheels of Confusion off Vol. 4. One chord to rule them and crush all others!

Yes when I first heard iron man the aggression was off the charts! I turned my best friend on to this song and we used it for our hype for football practice and games! It was staple to here that riff everywhere in high school! I grew up at a great time for music and I loved it all! Chiguy!

Yeah, that was hilarious! But 47 years ago I got this album on 8-track from a Columbia House subscription, borrowed my little sister’s little boom box that was all speaker and an 8-track slot on the side, and blasted it in the back of the school bus in the morning. Loved it then and still love it today!
For me, the Ozzy years were by far their best. So much influence on the direction that rock took into the future.

I remember listening to this album & Sabboth Bloody Sabboth when I was about 14-15 yo with headphones -lights off! They were my older brothers albums who had left for the marines and overseas. I’ll always be grateful for the cool music I was privy too from his collection of early 70’s rock!❤ So awesome to Grow Up with such Amazing Music of the late 60’s and 70’s!
First time I heard this song was in a Bar that had been converted inside an old mine shaft in So. Dakota. The sound bounced off the cave walls- making it sound Bigger, more ominous..like we were in Portal. Very awesome effects on a epic song 😱 Agree- This was so aggresive compared to 'regular' rock+roll.

Hey guys! An Older cousin of mine Was in a blues band before he passed away earlier this year. I'm trying to get his name out because I feel like he deserved much more recognition. He wrote a song for his wife Rayma. She was the love of his life and she got cancer years ago and passed away. He wrote "Rayma's song" After she passed and I would love if you could react to it. You need to listen to something from their first self titled album like NIB or The Wizzard, you will be witnessing the birth of heavy metal. The sound of the bass is so unique as the Geezer had prosthetic finger tips from some kind of industrial accident. He would play with the strings really loose to make it easier for him to play.
The lead guitar (Iommi) not the bass (Geezer).🙂

All I can say is you should've been there when the album first came out when i unwrapped the album and put it on my pioneer turntable and receiver with a pair of massive speakers. I had it in the basement. It shook the whole house.. Zeppelin was king.
