Hi , Paul ! I have just seen the new Shanling M 9 Plus! What a beast! The letest up dates ever! They are in another level of high quality DAP. I hope you and yours are doing well, sound and safe.
I'm fine, thank you, hope you're too! Our Shanling's distributor got I demo unit, so I'm already working on a review. And yes, M9 Plus is really impressive
this is actually the first review of this DAP in english 😍. For the m8 owners is the sound quality that much better to upgrade to the m9? Also did the battery life change a lot?
maybe just in video. text review by Headphonia was out few days ago as for M8 upgrade, it's a hard question, as price difference is pretty huge, while sound quality difference in TOTL segment isn't that big, so it's a tough decision. if you have free money, then yes. but if this upgrade hits your budget hard, it's totally OK to live with M8 :) battery life in M9 is really good, but depends on the load and out used
@@matusjurcik6974 actually, that's what I always try to suggest: don't waste money that is sufficient for one's budget. No need to get into loans to buy some super expensive DAP/IEMs/etc
The exact same price , $2800 i paid for iBasso DX300 + Drop+Dan Clark Audio Aeon Closed X + 2021 Dell XPS 15 i7 ,16GB ram , so i'm good. Sure Christmas prices , but still ... I'm sure the new M9 is good , but in my opinion $2800 is way too much
I didn't test WM1Z, but M9 and RS6 are pretty different in terms of signature, as RS6 is built on top R-2R DAC and sounds more weightier and more impactful, but with a less treble
Hello, in your opinion there is a sound level problem as the person below said, I listen to soul music from the 70s, the dx320 seems fragile to me, I can buy the shanling m9 1850€ new, I hesitate also with the sp2000t, but I want a big screen, thank you very much for your video, hello from France Paris.
@@PortaFi I collect DAPS and every time I think I’m done collecting I discover new ones to buy. Many thanks to you of course. The next 3 I want are the RS6 and the RS8 by HIBY and the N7 by Cayin.
Great and accurate review as always! ive had this player for almost 2 weeks and really liked the sound but.. imho it wasnt worth 2800 euros. Technically was great and very good fun factor but there were some things that made me return it. Soundwise it was too bright and energetic in trebles. There was a lot of trebles and for me it wasnt natural, humans cant hear the music this way in real life. Sure it made me smile but it got fatiguing after a couple songs. It was also too soft ans slightly blended in mids. It had strange "grainy" sound too, like there was a lot of details but this graininess sounded bit artificial. It got very very hot at times, a real toaster too. Now im rocking iBasso dx320 with amp13 and couldnt be happier. For me it sounds more natural and very organic throughout the whole spectrum (the mids are great, deep, rich and analog-like). I must say- once you go tubes, there is no way back:) At least for me. Cheers!
Totally a matter of taste here IMO. I'm not a huge fan of this idea, but a friend of mine is really happy, as he don't like many holes on players (maybe some kind of trypophobia :) )
@@PortaFi yeah that seems quite weird lol, but i do see one use case especially in long term that is durability of the ports, as when one you use to most breaks theoretically you could buy a new one from shanling (i wonder if shanling will sell spares )
I bought the m9 plus on 10 Nov 2024. After 4 weeks of usage the second small screen stopped working. The problem is related to the secondary small screen on the device. The fact is that, after some time (since i bought it) I notinced that some of the figures are strarting to vanish/ The screen displays only a part of information. Like it did not work, Shanling says they want to repair it. Repair after 4 weeks since purchase ? Come on. They dont want to change a player to a new one / without defects.. The device was purchased from their official reseller Dont buy products from Shanling - They sell faulty players.

yep, M17 appeared to be a really great offer (except of size, of course)
thank you for all kind words, all the best to you too!
For the price, I prefere have the m17 for home and the m11 plus ESS for outside.

Hello, I'm not sure what level problems are you referring here, but probably 1850 euros is a good deal for M9 if you like an energetic sound

hello very good review
question is still better aksp2000
what are their differences

SP2000 is more natural, more refined, less bossing emotions and has A&K's signature "fluid" mids
difference isn't big actually, but audible
Is this have a wifi? Plan to connect with my lg g7 hotsot and use spotify on that device

The most important question about Shanling is this. How does sexophone sound on it? :D
Emotional, just how it should be in sex… ophone
that ouput thing is imo quite gimmicky just a waste of time imo , could have just given 2 outputs or 3 or perhaps even more .

@@zerotwo_.002 I always wonder why almost no one does 6.3 mm ports. These super powerful DAPs are best for full-size cans, and they often use 6.3
