It would take me 2-3 days to post the tutorial about the image plane. So you tell me what's efficient, watching someone else's tutorial or wait a few days for me to make a tutorial on something that can be learnt in 2 minutes.
In one of your panel windows, (example:perspective view(front view,side view window, ect.) You'll see options for (VIEW,SHADING,LIGHTING, ect) Click on view , then image plane, then import image. Choose your file image, import it to the grid. Then adjust the image to the view where you're going to be modeling Hope this helps
