Great Video to summarize the life of GR Yaris since it was introduced in early 2020. It was Tommi Makinen who insisted in using the 3-door body shell and a lower roof line that makes it so special.
@ Nope. Was offered one by TGB but tbh price to change is too much for the benefits MK2 over MK1. Not interested in auto box as I love the manual change (my other cars are DSG and PDK). Engine internal mods are interesting tho. My GR is sub 12k miles, a third car and a keeper. Running costs are low and it’s still a great package. Plenty fun in its own right on the right road on the right day. Like today. Thanks
I quite like the external tweaks, and deffo the engine internal tweaks, but am not inspired by the auto box. It was offered a slot for a new car by Toyota GB. But Price increases and cost to change means I am happy to stay in my 2021 CP model, as I have only done 12k miles (it’s a third car 😊) and am still loving it. Toyota have done a brilliant job with this car. There’s nothing quite like it currently on sale, although price rises make it less attractive proposition for long term values. Mines a keeper. ❤❤❤
@extragum8828 Congratulations with buying the latest GR Yaris. Did you buy manual or auto, and are you enjoying it? In Australia there is the GT, AUD$62,000 drive-away and GTS, AUD$67,500. The GTS has Red brake calipers, BBS 18" forged alloy wheels, Specialised GR sports seats - suede and synthetic leather accented with red stitching, Torsen Limited Slip Differential, GR high performance suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, Intercooler spray, Sub radiator. I am thinking (hypothetically) if I was to buy one, I probably go more for the GT model.
Also, regarding future classic, it is hard to say, but it won't lose it's value all that much and there probably won't ever be another WRC hot hatch homologation model. The GR Yaris was Toyota's first WRC homologation model in over 20 years, which is a huge achievement considering the EV push by governments. Toyota is the number one car company in the world, but yet amazingly they have the capacity to also produce the magical GR Yaris. PS If one was to have bought a new EV at the same price as your GR Yaris, in 10 years time the EV will be worthless. PS PS Maybe if Aston Martin was very smart, this is the Toyota that they should have their badge on (back in 2011 Aston Martin had a rebadged variant of the Toyota/Scion iQ, called the Cygnet). Cheers.
Yeah, nah. I mean GR Yaris is a great car but the design is just the blandest bland of un-inspiration. It won't be able to touch the old spirited Lancias and other Group cars in any shape or form.
The moment you drive one properly - you suddenly get it. It feels like a motorsports tool. Not as pretty as a Lancia, but likely a future classic, as little else to compare it to. Small / light / proper 4wd,
@blastmanutz7798 there is subjective opinion then there is one that is formed around objective fact. Love a LDI, even more the restomod versions. The GR Yaris is a modern classic that has proven to be an absolute weapon that humbles pedigrees it shouldn't. When you fettle with them (500bhp, 4way tarmac rally dampers, tweaked subframe geometry and a sequential gearbox), nothing touches it on a B road.
@@khamid1 A lancia Delta HF would... easily at that, but what's the point, you can push 800+ hp on hillclimb spec lancias, it's been done for decades and is still being done today. That's not what defines a classic. All of those classics that are actually classic are what they are because of their racing history. The only thing a Yaris has for it is tuning.
Love the fact it’s still badged as a Yaris, if u know u know, perfect.
Exactly! Very subtle

Great point. Glad you enjoyed!
I'm so mad we don't get these stateside
My favorite...
Watching this video after driving my GR yaris.❤

Watching this and about to go out on my 21 CP GR off onto the damp bumpy Exmoor B roads❤❤

Well said… 615km 2020 YarisGR waiting to b shipped from Japan to Dhaka… My last car.
wish it was sold stateside, I'm not a big fan of the facelift visually speaking though
The facelift interior is quite different and not for everyone but I love the changes to the exterior
@@copynthat i'm the opposite lol, really like the interior, not so exterior

Lucky!
Great video.
Thanks mate!
I hope this legacy stays ...
Me too. Excited to see more 2024 models on the road!
I bought the mk2 gr yaris, do you think this is also gonna be a future classic or mo?
I think so. It’s even more powerful and better than the Mk1 on paper

Some say, why does the latest Subaru BRZ and Toyota GR86 not have a turbo engine? Answer, Toyota GR Yaris.
Yep
I don’t care if it’s homologated , I just loathe the looks of the GR Yaris ! On the other hand the GR Corolla is a sight for sore eyes ❤
Tell us you live where they don't sell the GR Yaris without telling us. Enjoy the overweight wannabe :)

Not quite, the S3 has the edge in top speed. In corners though the Yaris will dominate
@@copynthat It's not about top speed though. Around a track, the Yaris is faster.

What, can't take an opinion?
They’re both classics of their own era. No car being made today is quite like the GR Yaris, that’s for sure
