The physical size of an 18650 cell limits the capacity to around 3500mah. Any lithium in a 18650 can that says 5000, 5800, 12000 is fake

You get the rest of the energy out of them when you smash them and they catch fire.

They are probably including the energy used to manufacture the cell, not the stored energy in the cell.

I would certainly agree with those results...I have tested quite a few Chinese batteries and they were all around 500mAh.
Just what you need for that 10 minute torch !

      Hi,
Yes they are very poor quality,
They are now making new cells for £1 each,
So they only put a small amount in each cell,
They used to re sleeve old cells we sent them for re cycling,
It is a good job Elon Musk doesn't get his cells made in China.

Chinese battery companies use micro amps instead of milliamps.

Lesson learned: get the full specifications of the cells before buying online. As a rule, the heavier the better, but not always so. I've seen instances, where they actually put inert ballast in cells, to make them 'feel' heavier. It's worth doing a search, and reading forums and reviews of cells under consideration, before buying online.

This has been very useful.... thank you. Have been looking for a reliable supplier and clearly they're all fake/scammers. Last set I bought from Amazon ranged from 200mAH to 800mAH. Be sure to give them bad feedback. These scammers need shutting down.
Please be sure to quote the units. I was being slightly irritated when you just state mA which is a measurement of current, not capacity.

Look into laptop batteries they have reasonable quality 18650 sometimes 6 or 4 depending the size of the pack,
Name brand packs generally have good cells inside them,
You will have to open the pack and separate the cells as they are spot welded together,
I bought a used laptop battery and i got 5 good cells and 1 bad cell,
It was a Lenovo battery with Samsung cells in it,
Be careful opening the pack with sharp metal objects,
I paid about £6 for 5 good cells.

Either you missed the point of this video or you're just being a dick. I think it's safe to say in this particular case it doesn't really matter how accurate the testing was - the cells were expected to be poor and we found that they are poor.
Do you really need to know how much they can discharge from a 400-500mAh charging cycle? Does it really influence your decision to buy these shit cells or not? Even if he did use a load tester, at what discharge rate should he test them to your satisfaction? Should he repeat the test at three different discharge rates? Should he repeat those three tests 3x each for greater accuracy?
FFS this was to satisfy a curiosity about just how shit these cells are. And the answer is - they're pretty shit. For fucking 0.99c each we don't really need more accurate than that. It was interesting to find they weren't just filled with sand. Get a life, bro.

540 mAh for those yellow GIFs are good. Tested same crap given to me by a fellow landlord at yesterday - those had only 350 mAh. You should make a video to show what is really inside in these batteries. I'll bet they have small lithium cell inside with some filler around. By the way testing fakes by weight may be not feasible because scamers may put lead or steel pieces inside too.

      Hi,
I know enough to be dangerous,
I know filling up li ion to 100% full and draining to completely empty can be a big problem, dendrites form in the battery and shorten it's usable life,
NMHi in my experience with the duracells AA is they like to be charged really slowly, i do mine at 200 mah,
Other than this i wouldn't like to say,
Maybe ask another more knowledgeable you tuber.

If you wish to directly replace a lead acid battery with lithium, I would recommend Lithium Iron Phosphate. (LiFePO4) Those cells are 3.2 volts per cell, rather than 3.7. A 4-cell battery is a drop in replacement for a 6-cell lead acid.(12.6 volts nominal). The LiFePO4 cells have a maximum withstand voltage of 3.65 volts per cell, and can be run down to 2.8 volts per cell. They can be charged to capacity at only 3.4 volts per cell. That puts the 4 cell battery in the same operating window as an AGM Lead Acid battery. There is no need to adjust the charging system, or the cut-off voltage of a power inverter. You do, however, want to get a battery management system, (BMS) to ensure no cell exceeds the minimum or maximum voltage, for maximum life.
The LiFePO4 cells can safely float continuously at 3.375~3.4 volts per cell in an uninterruptible power supply.(13.5~13.6 volts, for a 4-cell 12 volt battery)

  • @lkingwell
    @lkingwell 3 года назад

Clearly massively oversold but TBH, the capacity measurements provided by chargers are also way off, very much depending on the state of charge at the beginning and the actual cutoff voltage used. Much better to load test.

5800mAh is not close to what they should be.
Even genuine samsung 18650 cells are 3800mAh or there abouts.
They cannot pack any more lithium I to that size of cell. So there litterly no space available within a 18650 package to fit more capacity into it.

I've bought a lot of Amazon basic AA and AAA batteries which are Panasonic anyway of some previous generation which are very good.... for the 18650 there must be a way around the flat top problem.... I'll try and invent something.... very good video.... ciao

Those fake cells do not have a protection circuit in them, even though they claim to have one. Look at user DiodeGoneWild who has tore these apart (literally), it clearly shows that they are hollow inside and no PCB.
The higher capacity fakes can be recycled batteries, where they put a new top and bottom on (covers the spot weldings) and re-wrap it, then sell it back to you.
Low capacity ones are just rubbish, anything at 500mAh weighs about 25 grams and are specifically made to be low quality cells.

Go for Samsung cells, or LG, i think they have a hologram on them to show they are genuine,
Test their capacity, or get 2nd hand ones from old Laptop batteries,
They maybe old low capacity, but they will almost always be genuine in a branded laptop battery,
They will be welded together though, people on You Tube show how to harvest them from laptop batteries.

in theory then with weight of a battery .. you could know by the weight what the mah of a battery could be ??? is there a formular to this ???

    • @noobtube7229
      @noobtube7229  6 лет назад +1

darren vaughan unfortunately it is not as simple as that,
A light cell will always be a low mah cell,
As it needs to be crammed full of lithium ion rolled up tightly as the outer shell is all negative and only the button is positive,
This is why they need plastic sleeves on the outside to protect from shorting,
The quality of the Lithium and the perforations make a huge difference on the capacity of the cells,
This is why Tesla only use Panasonic cells in their cars,
With all Lithium ion cells you get what you pay for,
A single Samsung cell could be as much as £8 each,
But you have to get them from a trusted source,
      Definately not from Ebay China,
Some people tear apart old laptop batteries and they normally have branded cells inside,
As most laptop manufacturers will only use genuine cells direct from the manufacturer,
Watch out though these cells are un protected and can be over discharged if you are not careful with them.

    • @keving10254

    • @noobtube7229
      @noobtube7229  6 лет назад

Go for genuine branded ones sold in the uk,
They cost around £6 to £10 each,
      Brands like Samsung,
Or get hold of a old laptop battery dell ones normally have branded cells in them,
Be careful taking them apart and watch some you tube videos of care of 18650's,
Invest in a good charger which peak detects each cell,
Liitokala chargers are Chinese but they can tell you the true capacity by discharging and recharging,
Laptop batteries will be unprotected cells,
This means they can be drained to a damaging level which can harm the battery,
Don't buy ultrafire or any other Chinese brand,
The maximum capacity of a cell is around 3400 mah if it is sold as higher than this it is a lie.

Nothing from china is ever right, and ebay should provide a way to burn them out of business. i have started to test everything i by from ebay, and the seller will not get a feedback before the product is testet! i dont care if it takes a month before the feedback is provided, and if the product is bad, the feedback will be bad to, and i close my ears for the whining about bad for business, if you sell shit, no one realy wants you there right, its the only way to make an difference, and ebay should provide better ways for buyers to complane.or squeese them out from there.

    • @noobtube7229
      @noobtube7229  6 лет назад +1

I agree but, there are some good things,
i really like my Xioami Redmi Note 4 phone and no problems so far,
My Q18 smart watch was good for £9,
My button tops for my PS4 do exactly what they are designed to do and they fit perfectly,
But that is out of 150 orders most are disappointing,
I have friends that imports special items from China and so long as you do your research with manufacturing you shouldn't get caught out,
But i think there is a culture in China of shoddy quality sold by chancers who just send dross,
There are a few areas they really go out of their way by outright lying to potential customers,
And we need to call them out as i bet a lot of customers don't even know they are being lied to,
You tube is rife with reviewers who say a product is great but then they say this video is sponsored by the brand they are reviewing and no bad points are mentioned in their videos,
Generally the Chinese lie in areas that they know are difficult to check,
Like the capacity of these 18650 Li ion batteries, and all other sizes of Li ion batteries,
The Lumen output of high power LED CREE torches,
The Lumen output of LED car headlight conversion kits,
It seems odd that it takes the same amount of time to make something well as it does to make it badly, but they choose to make it badly,
Design and R&D is not really a big thing in China, it costs money and they don't want to spend the money,
They are all about low price and mass production,
They only way to teach them is call them out on their lies,
This is partly why i made this video,
There are lots of sellers on ebay with multiple ebay accounts,
They go out of there way to hide this,
But when buying these batteries i made sure i bought them from different sellers but both sets came from the seller,
I wouldn't worry about being scammed as if you use ebay,
You are protected from non arrival, not as described, broken, wrong item sent,
So long as you buy from a seller registered as a business,
Make sure you open the case 1 day after the last day it should of arrived,
I have got my money back 100 % on all my shoddy merch,
Maybe that is the only way to punish them, as they lose the item, the postage cost, and the paypal transaction fee,
They seem far more annoyed with losing money than the bad feedback as they get so many, normally 100's per month,
Another tip a bad feedback is only viewable on their account for 1 year from the transaction date and then it drops off,
Sorry for the long reply but i like to pass on the information i have learned.
