A dogs journey

As you all know, we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome greyhounds and lurchers, but do you know what that involves?
🐾 Dogs come to us from a variety of sources - e.g. trainers, dog wardens, homes that can no longer keep the dog for various reasons. We form no judgment; we help if we can.
🐾 Dogs coming into kennels - We welcome them into our care, and after a period of settling in, we start their assessment (they will have been initially assessed if coming from a private home).
🐾 Home-from-home transfers - We assess in the home before we agree to help rehome the dog. They will stay with the family until a new home is found.
🐾 We provide the dogs with everything they need whilst in our care - food, comfort, warmth, love, mental enrichment, exercise, vet care etc.
🐾 We work with them to get them ready for a new home - exposing them to a simulated home environment and helping with behavioural issues.
🐾 Once assessed, we 'match' them to appropriate home offers to ensure the best 'fit' for the dog and the family. Contrary to popular belief, we don't have any set criteria for adoption.
🐾 Initially, we check-in with the adopters at regular intervals and offer support if needed.
🐾 We offer behavioural support for the lifetime of the dog.
All of this isn't cheap as you can well imagine, so we rely on funds from individual supporters, voluntary fundraisers, legacies, and grants from Trusts and Foundations to do the valuable work we do!
