Ben Kasica, you are the reason I started playing guitar at 14 despite the discouragements I got from people. I have never seen you live and I dreamed of seeing you but I was super bummed when I heard you left Skillet. The main thing I wanted to say is thank you for inspiring me and being my guitar Hero.
You guys know how unique this is for the guitarist to actually teach a lesson on how to play one of his own biggest hits for free?
Ben you inspired me to learn guitar! And i learn it by myself and its so good that you give us tutorials for those amazing songs. You are awesome!
Ben, I Miss you already. I remember taking my daughter to see one of your shows when she was about 10 years old. Maybe I should say she took me. You see, I'm the rock & roll head and since I didn't want to go by myself she came along. It was at the Altoona high school auditorium in Altoona, PA. That night changed my life. That show was years ago and it still has an effect on my everyday life, and hers too. Good luck with your clothing line and your studio. Thanks for all the great memories.

Ben, I bought my daughter a guitar and she never picked it up so I decided to try it. We both love Skillet (Monster is her fav, Comatose is mine). I just think it is cool as hell that you actually teach others how to play your music!! I don't know a lot yet, but you make this one look easy so I'm gonna give it a try. I will learn when she is not around and then just impress her one day! Thanks for helping me keep my status as world's coolest dad! Btw, she is learning to play now!!!

I Saw you guys last Friday at the 2010 Winter Wonder Slam at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh! I loved the performance of Monster there and so did my father! I still think you guys should open for Toby Mac, though,lol. I'm picking up the song really quickly thanks to you! I plan to post it here soon! Thanks so much! Oh, and I like the silver burst on your guitar...I've only seen two others with the design; the guitarist for Dream Theater and my own. Keep praising God in your awesome way!

Gotta say man, You haven't let me Down since you started in Collide. Amazing riffs keep each record feeling fresh. Love the originality of monster and the simplicity of it as well. I got a cover up on my channel. It's pretty old though. bad camera and equipment at the time. I'll be posting some Skillet covers in the near future if you feel like giving them a look.

@Bikerider914 No pedals, he uses the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier on its Modern setting. Those amps run for about $1800 new or $1100 used

seriously u should tho. It's the second song on my list of songs to learn, all but 1 of those songs is urs. I'm just starting to learn. Only had my guitar since Christmas. This is the only song I can play.

@Gazer794 in standard tuning, but a capo on the fourth fret and just tune the low E string to standard sound with a tuner, but ONLY that string. Then put the capo on the second fret, you'll tune the rest of the strings here, and just tune them baack to standard as well.
I like the ad 16 x in the background... my brother has one that we use but i think were gonna try out the new symohony I/O.
Yeah, I watched Monster live videos a few times just to see Ben playing it and to see if he did bar power chords before finding this. It's especially tricky to see what Ben's doing in drop tunings 'cause he bars with his middle finger. I think I learned it was power chords by seeing Kori play a bit in the end. But yeah, can be tricky sometimes.
@QpangKidz No, you just have to have thick enough strings to keep good tension, or get a baritone. I have this exact same guitar he is using. A Mike Mushok Baritone
Haha Ben I love you how you make this look so easy. Of course I don't play guitar, so I can't say anything. But I'm sure it's hard to do this when you made the song. Ha!

@SaturdayNightCustoms It's the fifth string on the first fret. Remember the strings count up from D-A-F-C-G-C. So G String, First Fret. Also, it's a power chord on there so play the G string first fret and the C string third fret as well as the F String third fret. Hope that helps :)

@TeamF3KF idk which Mesa amp he uses but in the iPhone app ampkit peavey has a amp that is modeled after the Mesa boogie

i only have one problem, gettting the distortion to sound somewhat close to the song, does anyone know the High, Mid, And Low settings for this song?
@JonLvb I think that's in drop C, 'cause they use capo 3 in some videos on the blue drop B guitar. I think they use that one anyway... See what color guitar he uses, if he uses the blue it's in drop B, if he uses it capo 3 it's in C, if he uses the red it's in D.
At the start when you play 5th fret then open followed by 8th and open what string do you play???

What gauge strings do you guys prefer for playing in this dropped tuning? I dropped my kids guitar which has intonations problems at dropped C (mine has a floyd and I did not want to reset, I need a block for it sometime)

Hey, what's the best setting to get my guitar to sound like that? I'm using a DigiTech RP100A and I want to set one of my user settings that will sound like most Skillet songs.
Am I right assuming when you move up the neck on the each of the open chords it is to damp/mute the top 3 strings while chugging? (left hand)
Ik he uses the rele expensive Mesa boogie dual rectifier but is there a way to get a sound somewhat close to this with another amp??? I have a line 6 spyder 5
@nonamedg the bridge is: 5, open, 3, 8, 5, open, 7,10, 5, 3...hope that helps

@QpangKidz No not at all, just when tuning, do it slowly, don't just turn the tuning heads quickly, otherwise a string (especially the high strings) are likely to snap.
us panheads will really miss you ben but we all wish you good luck for whatever you plan to do in the future
