- Chief cuts tuna in Japanese sushi restaurant. First part is called ootoro (big toro), and is the most expensive part of the fish, the next (bigger) part taken is chutoro (medium toro) and is one rank lower.
Why am i watching this? how the hell did i get here?
This is where the internet ends
***** Hahaha... good one.
+Messedup Birdie no regrets , right?
Niko Dejarme I can taste it from here.
same thought bro hahaha
Fucking dammit, makes my mouth so watery watching this thing...
Nathan Jacobson i dont even like fish but this makes me hungry
ImCrylo Doesn´t make my mouth watery as I won´t eat sushi no more.....
ImCrylo lol wtf dude? xD
+ImCrylo Fishism!
***** Please tell me you're joking
I just keep thinking if in another universe tunas are cutting humans like this guy is doing...
Sometimes I think a tuna fish is cutting a Knife in some parallel universe
Sometimes I think that in a parallel universe, that men aren't such pussies about tuna...
Sometimes in an alternate universe I wonder if Vegetables eat humans.
昨日食べたハンバーガー、クリスマスチキンの味は?
***** Sometimes I think that in a parallel universe, catchy lines and memes aren't beaten to death on the internet.
I feel bad for sharks because they'll never know how much better it tastes with wasabi and soy sauce.
*shoyu
+Mizushima Yoshino It's actually soy.
Tyler Micha I was talking about it in Japanese, dude. I know it's soy sauce, but it's called shoyu in Japanese.
Tyler Micha it's ok, most of the people in other countries can't even say my name right.
+Mizushima Yoshino
How old could be that tuna? How many years I mean.
How da hell did I get here from a video about cats compilation?
Jonathan Selaya perhaps because cats eat fish
Sarah Mardhiyah seems logical to me.
+Jonathan Selaya - Chuckle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Jonathan Selaya i got here from a CS:GO video XD
LightHero our past haunts us, lol
Every once in a while, i come back to watch this to make myself feel calm and relaxed.
It's really awesome how this guy just cleanly cuts the fish and shows the pieces in an educational clean manner! What a great guy!
That's a pretty cool, cook. His personality reflects on his work. ^_^
They are like the most enthusiastic people ever xD Love Japan
No wonder Ootoro is so expensive, it's like 2% of the whole tuna! It must be incredible to be a Sushi chef, after all that hard work and training, other chefs look up to you, diners look with awe and wonderment at what you do. You create simple yet intricate dishes that put huge smiles on peoples faces. How enlightening must that be?
God that's a huge fish
+seand67 Rather small size for a tuna though
Omg
+cool calm gambino wait this is small!!
sward Ariffin Yeah, Tuna can get up to 1500lb
cool calm gambino wadafaaaaak
Geez, that knife he uses is practically a shortsword. Even Crocodile Dundee would be impressed with it.
hunting,fishing,farming -> Civilization -> Enterprise -> iphone
Therefore fish -> iphone.
Vegans/Vegeterians everytime you use your iphone this fish is the reason. Fish for though
+Drake B You screwd up when you spelled thought wrong.
+dio pap civilization is going to implode becuse of my typo
+Drake B I hope these past 6 months you've had enough to time to reflect on how retarded that comment was.
Nope, my comment = logic + inference + touch of sarcasm. Its not really stupid when you think about it iphone is a result of technology and manufacturing which needs manpower which in turn requires food, hence fish is advancing modern technology so next time you see a vegan say "have some fish, you are advancing society"
Do a kitten next
Your comment killed me, so simple :p
kittens arent fish
radonas what?! I dont believe you.
Fick Dich come on people, think Chinese... this is Japanese food -.-
radonas Maybe he meant baby catfish. q:
This guy was so awesome teaching the kids about the fish/filleting very skilled with a knife if i tried id probably slice my fingers off
this is random but i like how the workspace is so clean
Japanese people are very neat.
the light reflection makes the fish looks like it's crying...but that won't stop me from drooling!!
The proper and frankly beautiful processing of a big fish is a wonderful sight to behold and a difficult skill to master
notice the guy staring in the store window in the background.
***** wat
Joseph Damiano he is a madao!
Joseph Damiano Yeah, so what? Never watched through a store window yourself?
***** yes. Although Beagles don't fly. But yes that's why I pointed it out. :p
Wow. Are tuna normally that big?
Wow. Thanks!
This one is small :D
ProGaming Polska
Wow. I thought it was huge. lol
AveMaria82100 Yeah, since most people eat it out of a can, they don't realise how massive a tuna can be, especially because its almost solid muscle. The average Atlantic bluefin tuna is larger than a person and weighs about 600lbs.
BrySkye
and it's not easy to cut this guy makes it look simple.... i cut fish at the2 japanese restaurants i work at
Always. I *ALWAYS* end up back to this video. Every single time I watch a video about preparing sushi
i can imagine someone typing "I feel sorry for the tuna” while eating a steak
If you watch videos about the Japanese fish market you see the worst thing. All the fish that are caught have their tails chopped off, and stuffed in their mouths. What kind of monster kills an animal, and then stuffs it's ass in it's mouth. Talk about humiliation.
***** Why yes, yes I did.
頭おかしいんですか?
That's for you "the worst thing"? What a bubble you live in.
Its food
I'm sure stuffing a Turkey for Thanksgiving is less humiliating. :)
I can't fix your piano. But I can tuna fish! Haw haw!
Is that knife made out of the steel from a samurai sword or something? it is amazing.
The art of how to cut this fish is absolutely amazing! In a way it's hard to look away! Amazing!
Thank god the title says "Japanese" sushi restaurant
I almost thought the cutting was being performed in another type of sushi store
as a matter of fact, there are brazilian sushi restaurants where i live
I would f that sashimi up
that knife
that fish (tuna)..lols
Japanese knife skills is second to none! He makes it look like a butter.
The man in the video seems so happy with his job :3 I love Japanese culture!
That is one Shaaaaarp knife ! One slip and he'd be looking for a new career
he would be looking for a new finger
sharp knives are actually safer, since they have less chances of slipping
Love Tuna and..... LOVE JAPAN !!!!
that tuna had a steady diet of ice cubes.
Man, Japanese culture is pretty dang awesome. I mean, just look at how that chef dresses! Class, son!
Why am I watching this? How did I get here? I think I need to go to sleep now
hold me, my beer can do this
Before I saw what a tuna looked like I thought they were small because the can of tuna is tiny
BasedKyou I watch videos they are giant
I like the flute playing in the background. ☺
This is subliminal advertising for sushi. Hook, line and sinker! Now I'm gonna go eat some sashimi
Small tuna, but I guess it has to be to be able to prep it like that in front of everyone on such a small table. Great video, he made quite a show of it. Thanks!
Wow! All these years I've been buying canned tuna, I had no idea how big one of those really is!!!
They can get even bigger ;D
I'm sitting here watching a guy cut up a fish..... Fun life I have.
omfg all that good meat!!
with mercury spice
alzym1 Dude, if you were just going to comment like that, then don't watch a video about filleting fish.
IT LOOKS GOOD YO!
Jacob Meth Dude its a free world .
and either way, this world isent free you stupid dipshit, if u opened your eyes and start looking you would see it isent free, WHY does everyone have to work from 6-17 everyday, thats slavery it isent freedom so fuck off
I worked on a yellow fin tuna boat in Hawaii for 4 years. I have eaten my share of raw Tuna to last a life time. But here back in the states, I surely miss those days of having and eating all the Tuna I want. Us deck worker got to eat all we wanted as long as it was a Tuna that had been shark bitten. The sharks would rip out the belly and leave it the rest untouched. Tuna at the auction in Hawaii back then were selling for 20 bucks a pound. Best 4 years of my life!!! 15k was all our boat holds.
the real chef is the smoker outside the window. That day he was just cheking.
My favorite part was when he cut up the fish!
WHY IS EVERYTHING IN JAPAN SO CLEAN???????
raw meat... it needs to be very clean
I mean, the cutting board and the equipment, the counters, they're all so clean. My friend went to her grandma in Japan and she was told to scrub the toilet so clean, you can eat from it.
Japanese people are very clean to begin with so its common for their food to be too
DemonLord Odin
Wish other countries considered hygiene this important.
Roger London
wow
Like the Tuna, looks like a good specimen for sashimi.
I keep hearing the Aussie's saying, "Now that's a knife!"
THAT THING IS HUGE! O.O
That's what she said
Believe it or not that's actually small for an Eyeball. I used to be a professional fisherman and most Eyeballs we caught were in the 125lb. to 200lb. range. It's still a nice fish but on the small side for an Eyeball.
tbone2872 is it correct the Eyeball you mention is a kind of fish, not its eye ball that big.
Eyeball is slang for Big Eye Tuna. That is the species of tuna that the fish in this video is. Many of us who are into offshore sportfishing call Big Eye Tuna "eyeballs" for short.
Wow! Watching this made me so damn hungry! He did a wonderful demonstration! That one light cut was killing me! The fat on that tuna was lovely! I my get me some nigiri tomorrow!
Man I love random video sprees. Lead me to very "different videos"
Just not when you have an exam the next they and the morning at 8 and its 4:16....
I want fucking sushi! Heading outside to buy some!
I love the Japanese language, the characters, the spoken words, everything! It's a beautiful language if you try and learn it. I only wish I could have learned it from birth.
Anyone who just wanted to give the fish a hug? It just look's so soft ._.
they are anything but soft xD
ME WANT TUNA GIVE ME ALL TUNA ILL EAT THE WHOLE THING AND DIE HAPPY OF MERCURY POISONING GIVE ME THAT TUNA!!!!!!!
As long as the animal is dead and out of its misery then i don't mind trying new cuisines..but the live fish serving i will never accept.
Uhhhhhh. this fish is dead
They already removed its internal organ and drained its blood so the fish was already dead. If not the fish will be struggling and it will be bleeding.
Weijun Chen what's with all the moving? And sometimes they showcase live turtles with their organs still in there...
Ninaki13th It is natural for some muscles to move even after the death of the animal. If you have dissected a frog, the heart will still beat after removal. PS. Where did the turtle come from?
Ninaki13th lament ur pretension and fake compassion in the friendzone!
When I feel tuna cutting is an art. Amazing knife skills👌👌
Man in the window at the start is like, "Oh yeah, I want some of that."
They are asian and they cut fish! How cruel they are!
How are you supposed to prepare ANY type of food? -0-
Mackenzie Maes lol that hidden rasisim xD
Robert Lee HEHRHEHRHHRRHHR
That was some intense laughing right there
you're a dumb bitch lmfaoooooo
Makes me want to bite a chunk out of the damn thing., just needs soy sauce.
DUDE YES LOL. Love being atop the food-chain.
Anthony Demauleon Hahahaha
I was thinking the same thing as I was watching this.
And Masago and seaweed.
enjoy your mercury! I mean fish.
That maguro probably costed a fortune... but oh my, it is beautiful.
Oh... I learned a lot on this video. I didn't know "ootoro" and "chuutoro" are just different cuts from the same fish, but now that I think about it, it's kinda obvious duh lol. Was this taken in Kansai?
its horrible :( and little kids are watching that terrifying spectacle poor aniamal ;((
Oh fuck off.
....so you would never let kids go Into a butchers?
HurtboxTV hehe you are giving a bollocking so you fuck off
benjy420 im just kidding ;) its sarcastic, i pruposely wrote word animal with mistake you see ? and all that sad emoticons are really sarcastic to
Melson903 that doesn't even make sense, you're just stupid.
This is part of my culinary assignment! I wish to work with a fish like this ;o;
i like how they make the process very clean considering how hard it actually is to do so. skillz. respekt.
i bet thats one damn sharp knife!
That place looks clean. In my country it would have lots of flies and cats walking around, and it wouldn't even be air conditioned.
The man is teaching children. I really respect that. Very cool.
so satisfying tho im not sure how i even got to this video lol
I have no Idea what he is saying but its making me smile. I wanna go to Japan soooo bad!
Can you imagine a samurai coming back and seeing his descendants doing this? "I used my skills to kill many great warriors and you're just cutting fish?!"
times move on...
they would be very happy seeing peaceful times in japan..
Your fish would want to go to Japan. ITS SUCH A MASTERPIECE
DAMN. THAT TUNA COULD FEED EVERYONE WHO COMES INTO THE RESTAURANT FOR YEARS...
0:35 LOL the japanese boy "Holy shit i gotta see this!"
The guy cutting it is so adorable to the kids lol
this was so interesting wow! the swordsmanship do i have to call it? was excellent
it all happened yesterday. i was home at 9 and on my way to success and learn for my todays quest in school... after 4 hours of youtube i couldnt stand it anymore and went to bed.
It's fun to watch a person who likes their job work. We should encourage an economy that values humans as resources more. Arigato
dude you are spot on i have no idea but I have to keep watching DERP!!!
I love my tbone steaks but those thick chunks he's showing after cutting are making my mouth water.
Out of curiosity is this tuna fresh off the boat or has it been frozen? I know in the USA the FDA requires all raw fish to be frozen for 24 hours if it is going to be served raw. Does that alter the flavor?
+tachikoma747 I'm guessing not frozen. Most likely caught the day prior and bought super early that morning. It does alter the flavor and texture as well yeah.
Suddenly from PC water cooling guide videos to a Japanese tuna cutting video.
+d34dj0k3r I was watching homemade almond butter hehehe
I was watching the Star Wars trailer lol
+RonioFOX I was at pauladin loves butter
billy kaltzidis I didn't get it
You're right. It is close to being under "threat" but it is no where near critical endangerment or the adjacent levels. Yellowfin is still kicking and alive in the wild compared to other tuna species.
loving the old man in the window
5:14
Damn look at that creeper out the window. he must be hungry as hell
If this is the weird part of youtube, exactly what kind of things are you normally looking at?
the guy in the window just staring like damn i want some haha
SUDDENLY IN THE MOOD FOR SUSHI
ITS SO FRESSHHH!!!! OMG!!! Thatd be the most delicious sashimi!
Such friendly staff too...
Personally i am avoiding responsibility and life.. i also find this immensely satisfying and interesting....
seeing fish just makes them happy XD
I reckon I could eat the entire thing right now.
Imagine you're surviving on a cold island in tuna filled waters and you miraculously snag one of them. Preserve it and it would feed 1 man for a long time, lol.
That Tuna's gonna feel it in the morning! ...the right side at least
it's because they are always in front of customers working, it's like a performance show : )
When he cut open the fish he used a Katana movement.
Tuna is such a big fish. I wonder how long a family in Japan can eat Tuna before they got the whole thing eaten up.
