I get it. Taking off Glory and putting on humanity is beautiful imagery. I don't think it's an actual comparison, but it seems like so many people want to take it as far as they can with The Bible. I think the making it rain "on stripper's booties" part was totally unnecessary and could be seen as inappropriate. I shouldn't have to talk to little children about what that reference means, before I think it's time to have to do so. On the one hand, it's soooo far off from the little old church of yesterday, and is an abomination in the eyes of those old Saints that thought lipstick was a sin, lol! On the other hand, it's relatable to this near-apostate generation of "Christians," who seem to want (or maybe need) someone to "get real" (which really means 'show me your dark side') with them. There's a thin line. It's not my taste, but I get it, and we need to be VERY careful to not remove the fear of The Lord for the sake of making people happy.
People need to just let God be God. They are trying to make the gospel hip & cool and to be honest, it's borderline worldly to me. The word in John 12:32 says And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me. So all we have to do is lift him up using His WORD and He will do the rest!
Amen! God’s word is enough! I think when these leaders get off into all these lil theatrics, they’re trying to draw attention to themselves. They want the fame and popularity….a huge following. God does not need our help so we should be ever so humbled that he chooses to use us.
What Tim said was wrong; we don't need to try to justify his reasoning. Whether he is speaking to the Gen Z or Millennials, his phrasing and language is way off.
We have lost our way when we want so bad to be relevant and hip that we lose sight of the fact that God is not our buddy from around the corner, he is the holy and righteous God. We have lost the fear of God which is not dread but reverence and respect. We would not say something like that about human authorities in their presence, why believe that it is even remotely acceptable to disrespect God in the hearing of the whole world? God is not someone to be trifled with.
I get what Tim meant. But I think these days we try to be cute in the pulpit. Honestly I think what Tim said was dishonoring, and disrespectful to a holy God. I love however what my Pastor said which is, we should be careful not to misrepresent the heart of God in order to be seen as relevant, cool, modern or acceptable.
I love Tim Ross I use to do stripper Ministry and I want to give him the benefit of the doubt but I can’t that was wrong and we all mess up and thats why we have the scriptures inspired by the Holy Spirit because we cannot in our own flesh give God reverence and that’s why we should stick to the scriptures to give God the reverence He is worthy.
Honestly, I agree with Sean’s take on the clip. Probably from grammatical/semantic standpoint, stripper and stripped have two different meanings. Stripper always seems to refer to a person who is doing some type of sex work, but stripped always refers to the taking off of something from someone. So if you use stripped, it would actually help you because it. would indicate that some thing is being taken off. But stripper can only indicate to the person listening that you’re comparing God to some type of sex worker. Which is not what I would agree with. So thank you Sean for your perspective.
The metaphor IS the problem!!! This is disrespectful to Jesus and his holiness. Song or sermon that does not present Jesus as the Holy, righteous God he is out of order!
His version was not the same as the example that he gabecause. He's not talking about God as if he's a stripper but what we can do instead of going to a strip club
"Who cares about that?!" PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE IT AND WORK HARD OR HAVE SACRIFICED FOR THE LORD BUT HAVEN'T GOTTEN WHAT THEY (REALLY WANT AND NEED)!! 💰
Impure!!! What is happening? These G’s and X’s can understand like I did when I was 18!!! You don’t need to hear the whole thing!!! To me it pit ungodly images in people’s heads when they’re not thinking about it!! Enough! In this world not of it!!!
I think church folks say one thing in private and another in public. Whoever you are and whatever way you speak in private is the only you that the Lord knows. Not the polished one wearing their Sunday best. A veneer of respectability only impresses other people. It is patently unimpressive to the Lord. He knows only one YOU. I think if most Mands of God spoke in public like they speak in public, we would worship them less but actually learn from the teaching they give without out treating them like mini-messiahs.

That wording could’ve been much better 💀💀💀

Totally wrong absolutely. He said he took off Glory to suggest Jesus isn’t God
why is today's society getting so far away from God. its so sad
Help us ALL LORD!

KDub's take on this is hilarious. I long to hear more about what Tim has to share with us regarding this whole conundrum! 💣😬

I really get what he was saying.
That was clear

You can only describe something using your own language and understanding. His analogy is based on his experience and vocabulary.
