The way she signed the divorce papers without reading them, based on a verbal conversation they previously had. Plus with Dallas finding out she was seen with Benji before the meeting with the lawyers, might have led us to believe he had altered the paperwork since the verbal agreement. But then nothing came of it, so what was the point of the sequence of events? Strangely written.

@@sugalovely1238 if she read them via email or whatever prior to the meeting, would she not want to read them again (with counsel) at the actual meeting to make sure nothing was changed? My point is that the audience was misled into thinking that Dallas could have modified the papers due to the sequence of events, eg. being spotted with Benji at the Fair. I know that she was in a hurry to move on, but she could have ended up with a "Divorce in the Red", financially and emotionally.
I actually enjoyed this one. I just watched it earlier with my grandmother we both were into it. I will never shit on Tyler because of the job security he always gives to the ones who stayed down with him from the start and even ones he works with later. I love this for my people.
The job security Tyler (the person) offers black actors is a good thing, but the art that Tyler (the artist) is having the black actors produce is bad. I think it's okay to separate the art from the person and call the art shit when it is. Criticising the art shouldn't be seen as an indictment on the person. Tyler's situation is bittersweet because it's like a man who does the good deed of feeding homeless people. However, the catch being, most of the food he feeds the homeless is rotten... It's a moral conundrum because rotten food in the short term is better than no food at all. However, the same rotten food has the downside of making those hungry people sick in the long run. It's a lesser of 2 evils scenario. So, Yes, Tyler may indeed be providing job security (food on actors' plates), but in the longrun the quality of the work will never showcase his actors' acting chops/talent in the best light (potentially making it hard for them to be taken seriously). Just as the rotten food robs the homeless' health, bad acting gigs/bad movies rob an actor of being considered for future good roles (it kills their career in the long run as they will be type-cast as bad film actors). That's why we should call out the bad art; to put pressure on Tyler to improve the quality of his work. It's not only for the sake/health of his actors' futures, but it's for himself too. *Spare the rod, spoil the child.*

Divorce in the Black was Boring and terrible I worked on that Movie last yr.Two weeks he filmed 🎥 that Movie. That Church Ranch and Trailer was down in Savannah
I just griped about this. I live in Atlanta, and I could tell it was filmed in Savannah. That was a bad decision... Because I could clearly see that, and I know that it takes several hours to get from Atlanta to Savannah. Not 1 1/2 hours. This should have been filmed in Athens. I'm going to stop supporting Tyler. He didn't even try.
Richard Lawson Career started in the 1970s he was in the movie with pam grier in the second Blacula movie scream blacula scream (1973) in the blaxploitation days his daughter is bianca Lawson who also played Pam Grier and snoop dogg's daughter in Bones (2001)
I remember him as the chief of police in Streets of Fire (1984). It starred William Defoe as the leader of a biker gang that kidnapped a rock star played by Diane Lane and Stoney Jackson & Robert Townsend were members of an R&B group that opened for her.
I loved Bones and didn’t realize Richard Lawson was also in How Stella Got Her Groove Back and For Colored Girls. I see how Tina Knowles had to circle back around to him for a while. He is still quite handsome.
The first 10 minutes of the movie I yelled "Here we go again!" I really thought the whole movie was going to be on that level but it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It had some flaws in typical Tyler Perry fashion but it was not as bad as his previous 3, Mea Culpa, A Fall from Grace and Acrimony. Those were his worse 3 and it looked like that was the path he was going to continue to go down. This movie was a smidgen better so hopefully his movies will get better. Maybe he produced this on in 3 weeks instead of a week to 10 days.
I just heard of this movie when I saw your thumbnail. I'm gonna go watch it first, so I'm not biased, then come back and see what you said. ***I just finished it and your video. I see what you're saying about his acting, but when I tell you he made me flashback to a situation in my life w/someone who was that type of angry... I had no point of reference to know he'd be that type of person bc I'd never met anyone like that before, and hadn't seen the women in my family dealing with that type of man. I got away from the situation, but he was an off kilter angry like Hardwick played. It was realistic to me, but her reaction to it was way different from mine, bc I wasn't trying to fight to stay w/him. I was trying to get away safely.
The church scene at the beginning of this hot mess came straight out of a Monty Python skit. I have never laughed so hard at a scene that was supposed to be dramatic in my life. What’s funnier as that TP wrote it down and thought it was good.
TP’s movies are awfully Predictable. The best I’ve seen from TP is the Jazzman’s Blues. He needs a new writer PERIOD. Cory Hardict did a great job as well as Meghan Good on the movie otherwise, it would be a flop in my opinion
The sex scene did feel forced to me because just a couple of scenes before the same person who initiated said no for good reasons. He came on too strong to me in the scene that led up to the sex scene.
Tyler Perry knows he is wrong I watching the funeral scene now😂 If this man don't hire some writers and stop this foolishness, they need to revoke his black card.
I agree, Tyler Perry needs to hire a team of writers! I found the crazy husband one dimensional! I agree, why would she stay? Did he have any redeeming qualities? It was better than most of his other films but that’s not a very high bar!
Tyler doesn’t know how to write nuanced characters. They’re either evil incarnate or angels. There’s rarely a middle ground. Women in DV relationships get love bombed after their abuse, so they’ll stay. Where was that here?
You know what.. it was better than Mea Culpa....that was a hot mess 🤣. I really loved the grocery store scene. I think that scene was meant to be some comedic relief when he yelled at the clerk. I think Meagan was solid throughout. I didn't agree with some of Cory's acting choices (especially the crying scenes) but overall I think he did a great job. It's giving very much a TP production but it was entertaining.
I was entertained at the funeral😂😂😂😂😂 in my opinion Preacher/daddy is the real villain. He had no business antagonizing the dead🤣🤣🤣 and I still need answers as to what Dallas meant by being forced to unalive his dad.🤣🤣🤣 The store scene was pure comedy, what happened to bystander intervention, why did the lady with the red top stand and watch😂😂😂😂😂 And Eva's bestie is a hater, she never insisted to stay the night when her friend was clearly not fine. And when she opened her purse I thought she would pull out a blicky for her friend to protect herself. Why she pull out letters🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Black people it’s always a negative undertone. Different demographics of people have different views on life, he always has a typical southern stereotype of BP not living up to social norms.
The first part of the movie was absolutely hilarious! I would have never dreamed that would have happened bravo for that scene. I thought that Cory Hardrict was the stand out in the movie, he was very believable. I thought it was going to be worse but it actually was better than I expected. It wasn’t horrible which I was expecting so I gave it a 5.5 overall The overall problem is story and character development
I've seen Lifetime and yes even Tubi movies with better storylines. It's getting weird how no one holds TP accountable for better material. What were Megan and Cory thinking???
Brandon is going to tear this up. 🤣 All of these back to back movies with lack of a plot and/or logic. TP should take a sabbatical and be about QUALITY and not QUANTITY! 🙄
I was so pumped to see Cory Hardict. But who wants an erotic church movie!? I’m glad they got paid but I wish this could have moved through a little better. A family that prays is his best work!!
I realize it's not the actors that are bad actors, it's Tyler perry's directing. I've seen how Karen from sisters act in 'if beale street could talk' and the acting was night and day. I used to watch the queens men and I could clearly tell when Tyler began to take a hands on approach and that's when I stopped watching it.
New subscriber. Great video. Tyler Perry is still in the Golden Girls and black trauma/woe is me area of life. I didn't go to film school, but I just have a way of looking at a film and interpreting it. One thing that is a standard in film school and/or film classes is watching Alfred Hitchcock films. You will see his techniques manifested in a lot of films made by white writers and directors. Many of the Mission Impossible films have the Hitchcock touch. When Tyler was on the set of Gone Girl, he listened to Ben Affleck discuss a scene, and Ben and the writers/directors mentioned Hitchcock. Tyler said that he didn't know anything about what they were discussing. Watch films. Study them. At this point, Tyler is just making films akin to black exploitation. This time he is luring black actors in with money over substance. He is a billionaire, but they are not. They still have to work and get other parts in other films. He needs to consider that too because at this point, he is simply getting big name black actors to play parts to legitimize his work when the work is still revealing itself as unqualified.
Tyler has to do better and get some writers to help out on his work, or he won't have any decent quality actors that won't waste their talent in his productions.
Kerry Washington has a movie with Perry. Tyler Perry has a movie about Black History Black women in the military during WW2 Lets hope and 🙏, he doesn't screw this up. We don't have that many movies about Blacks in the military during WW2. Knowing him, he will have struggling black woman who is being abused by a black man. And she joins the military to escape his abuse.
Brandon, you've been "respectfully" standing on Tyler's neck for a long time! I often rewatch your video of your review of "Fall From Grace" just to laugh at your reaction to the one guy's hair! And anyone who has not seen Brandon's review of that movie do yourselves a favor and watch it to have a good laugh!
I love that it goes to different places and I like the extremes! Movies are supposed to take you somewhere you haven't been. I watch a TP movie for his STYLE, HIS WRITING, HIS STORIES. So I get what I'm looking for and what I enjoy! It was a GOOD MOVIE to me!
Completely agree with this review First half was so hard to get through, like the dialogue and unbelievability was rough and the second half was better The actors held it up but the writing and situations were brutal Also I just realized, Tyler doesn’t use like scores, he just uses like stock sounds lol I feel like scores help elevate movies to a degree
hey, Brandon! I'd not heard of this film before now and it sounds like, even though I'm laid up with a swollen knee, and in the perfect position to watch a bad B (or C) movie, I'm still cautious. It means that if the first half is as bad as you say, I can't just jump up and go in the kitchen for another cookie, peanut butter bread or fruit snack. Because of my injured knee, I'd just have to lay there and bare it waiting for this not-as-bad second half. Also, you said that you'd never seen Richard Lawson before; I bet you have, though. He was in 'Poltergeist'. He showed up with the lil' short lady that cleaned out the house.

To be honest, acrimony is 10x better than this
While you would think since cory and meagan went through divorces themselves they would added some.extra "heart" to the movie
They just stayed on script they need that Check 😢love both of them so talented ❤❤
I'm always ready for some unintentional belly laughs from a TP movie 😂

And where in the world were the police? The one time the police show up they didn’t arrest anyone! One cop shows up in the entire movie. I guess a black man can’t get arrested in that town.
That one cop. .."I need proof!!"
The mom was assaultedwith a witness.
The father didn't shoot himself
People have been arrested for less.
@@jcaashby3The cop was scared of the Bertrands, too😅.
As a screenwriter writer filmmaker myself..I thought this movie was not good at all..there's no unique story line..no emotional connection...like diary of mad black woman..or.acrimony..I felt those.women pain...was connected to there story and growth...this movie makes no sense...nor do the character actions..Dallas is just a mad abusive man for no reason..Meagan good is the perfect saint..no different than any other Tyler film...ironically Cory hardict is the only semi decent actor in the film...he played his role
Y’all know he’s working on Sister Act 3 with Whoopi Goldberg, right? I think he’s going to executive produce along with Whoopi. Someone else will PRAYERFULLY do the writing and directing.
Oh no!😮 Please noooooo!😂
@@nicolejohnson4989 Sorry my bad. Let me clarify. Whoopi said that script was coming together. That leads me to believe Tyler ISN’T the writer. Even though Whoopi rocks with Tyler she knows his method of filmmaking isn’t a good fit for a Sister Act movie.
She already told Keke Palmer and Sheryl Lee Ralph she’s trying to figure a way to get them in the film.
@@EphraimBlack-f5x oh wow I didn’t know that, idk what the movie is going to be about but if they do a movie similar to sister act 2 she could cast Keke in a role similar to Lauren Hill’s role as Rita in sister act 2
I also didnt get WHAT she loved about Dallas even with the "good times" flashbacks. He aint did enough to earn that kind of loyalty and devotion. 🤨😑
Richard Lawson has been around for years. He was in Scream Blackula Scream.
Poltergeist the first one,and he's handsome too...
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!!
I'm not a Tyler fan but this was one of his best movies. Corey and Meagan did an awesome job. In the first scene when his mom yells at him you felt his fear. Tyler learn how to direct your background actors and stop being cheesy with your sets. I was highly entertained. Good movie. I give it a 6 out of ten. Hire writers and set directors, please!!! Invest in the next John Singleton or Spike Lee.
This is by far the quickest movie review you’ve ever done 😂
The way she signed the divorce papers without reading them, based on a verbal conversation they previously had. Plus with Dallas finding out she was seen with Benji before the meeting with the lawyers, might have led us to believe he had altered the paperwork since the verbal agreement. But then nothing came of it, so what was the point of the sequence of events? Strangely written.
OH MY GOODNESS… I thought the same thing. I was like when she told him get out her house maybe in the contract he was getting the house but nope nothing entertaining came from that or that damn letter
I thought that too. That would have been an unexpected twist. She signed without reading it because she was done.
@@victoriarice9595 yeah I get that she just wanted it to be over, but I just thought that with timing of things, and also taking into account the title of the movie, I thought he would try to attack her financially... I'm still trying to find the message in the movie LOL! Weird one TP
The woman said, 2 or 3 times, in that scene, that she'd read over the divorce papers. So, where did u get that she signed them, without reading them?!!!
Your facial expressions in the thumbnails lets us know wether or not we should watch a film Lol
I completely agree with your review. Also, Ava's parents were my favorite part of the movie. 😊

Oh no! I hope Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict who are ATTRACTIVE and TALENTED will get far better roles. Oh the irony! Good's character in Think Like A Man threw shade at Tyler Perry movies. 😎
It’s beautiful there. I love the spot where she’s running in the black set and she’s in between those willow trees.
Very boring. I couldn't finish it
Richard Lawson Career started in the 1970s he was in the movie with pam grier in the second Blacula movie scream blacula scream (1973) in the blaxploitation days his daughter is bianca Lawson who also played Pam Grier and snoop dogg's daughter in Bones (2001)
I cannot wait for this review. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is a sad yet funny comment. 😅
Great review! Very professional. Keep doing you! ♥️
Thank you so much!
Richard Lawson was Loretta Divine's love interest in For Colored Girls and he was on Good Times when JJ dreamt he was white.

Richard Lawson is the former husband of Beyoncé's momma Tina Knowles (post Matthew Knowles)
I hate he got attached to that family because he's been acting way before them but now THAT'S going to be in his liner notes forever.

One day this man’s eyes are going to eject from rolling at Tyler Perry movies. Be safe king!
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
I LOVED the WHOLE movie. That eulogy was not for the deceased in their service. It reminded me of a country funeral in a small Georgia church.
The sex scene did feel forced to me because just a couple of scenes before the same person who initiated said no for good reasons. He came on too strong to me in the scene that led up to the sex scene.
Tyler Perry knows he is wrong
I watching the funeral scene now😂
If this man don't hire some writers and stop this foolishness, they need to revoke his black card.
Hi Brandon. Your Tyler Perry reviews are epic!!! Acrimony Your Acrimony review is my all time favorite. This one was good too!❤
I agree, Tyler Perry needs to hire a team of writers! I found the crazy husband one dimensional! I agree, why would she stay? Did he have any redeeming qualities? It was better than most of his other films but that’s not a very high bar!
I asked the very same thing. What are his redeeming qualities?
Tyler doesn’t know how to write nuanced characters. They’re either evil incarnate or angels. There’s rarely a middle ground. Women in DV relationships get love bombed after their abuse, so they’ll stay. Where was that here?
Agreed. I’d give it a 3/10. I think the actors only did the job for money.
Your face on the thumbnail tells me everything I need to know 😂😂
I was expecting to see the bleach bottle lol
Right! 😂
Me too! 😂

That was the emptiest grocery store I've ever seen. Lol
Even in my mom's small hometown always had plenty of people.
This movie was not better than Mea Culpa
I’ve been waiting for you 😂😂
This movie made me realize how much he hates Black women.
Corey did an excellent job very believable. Just wanted to mention that since I didn’t hear it in this commentary.

I loved the Movie...Divorce in the Black❤🎉😊
I thought it was terrible, the acting and it seemed kinda low budget to me
Yes it was terrible a lot of people are band wagoners that’s it that’s all don’t have a mind of their own
Yall are dragging this. I really enjoyed this movie 😂😊
Glad you enjoyed it lol
Tyler has to do better and get some writers to help out on his work, or he won't have any decent quality actors that won't waste their talent in his productions.
Kerry Washington has a movie with Perry.
Tyler Perry has a movie about Black History
Black women in the military during WW2
Lets hope and 🙏, he doesn't screw this up.
We don't have that many movies about Blacks in the military during WW2.
Knowing him, he will have struggling black woman who is being abused by a black man.
And she joins the military to escape his abuse.
Then he’ll come running to get her back and she’ll reject him with some corny monologue.
Wait is he a writer for the new WW2 movie starring Kerry Washington did he write the movie ?
Perry hired Richard Lawson after Tina Knowles dropped him. he needed the job
Point blank the movie was good, the actors, script, the writer was good go Tyler Perry
Everyone keeps making excuses for Tyler and I just don't understand why! He has enough money to produce competent films!
Completely agree with this review
First half was so hard to get through, like the dialogue and unbelievability was rough and the second half was better
The actors held it up but the writing and situations were brutal
Also I just realized, Tyler doesn’t use like scores, he just uses like stock sounds lol
I feel like scores help elevate movies to a degree
I think Cory acting was very good
I suffered through and then immediately came to RUclips for the reaction videos
hey, Brandon!
