He hasn't healed over his mother's "abuse." She didn't directly abuse him, but she let it happen.

He’s literally projecting his childhood trauma into every movie he puts out and it’s getting old

@@JB0523 Yes! Somebody finally gets it. He is stuck somewhere in his childhood, and it is with his mother being abused verbally and/or physically by the man. Go back to every movie he has made, and you will see that is the common thread. It is time for him to grow up. You can have sense in one area of life and become a billionaire and still have no sense in life concerning the lack of quality of work you put out. It's time for him to grow up in all areas of life.

@@reginayfavors….you don’t believe black women endure abuse on a regular? Or you don’t care? This movie was a new spin on a classic ghetto one l’ve studied. The obese, ignorant mama coddling her adult, worthless sons. She’s taught them to be as vile and abusive as she is. None are married save this one and he’s a pitiful wreck who has no self respect. He was the wife’s first love and she grew use to his physical and emotional abuse. Tyler kept it clean but you could read between the lines. Good job, loveless marriage, childless, and pushing 40 is today’s new black woman. #2024-yearoftruth-kattwilliams

I feel you on this...I'm waiting for DOUBLE TOASTED. Listen, TP (obviousely) doesn't give a "F" waht we or the critics say. The man has his fan base and is laughing all the way to the bank, dude got more money that Beyonce...it is what it is, am I a fan, I admit I have a guilty pleasure for his Madea movies...his other movies seem to mean spirited for me, poorly edited, poor make up, poor screenwriting, badly directed and the man does not do his research before making a movie.
But...BUT, I do admire his employment all African American actors and I am guessing behind the camera as well, he seems to be a solid business man. I just watched an interview with Megan Good and she stated TP let her quote her own paycheck...she was in tears when she saw it, that woman has been in the business over 30yrs and got the biggest check she has ever seen, it brought her to tears...I commend Mr. Perry for that.

Tyler learn how to direct your background actors and stop being cheesy with your sets. I was highly entertained. Good movie. I give it a 6 out of ten. Hire writers and set directors, please!!! It had some flaws in typical Tyler Perry fashion but it was not as bad as his previous 3, Mea Culpa, A Fall from Grace and Acrimony. Those were his worse 3 and it looked like that was the path he was going to continue to go down. This movie was a smidgen better so hopefully his movies will get better. The way she signed the divorce papers without reading them, based on a verbal conversation they previously had. Plus with Dallas finding out she was seen with Benji before the meeting with the lawyers, might have led us to believe he had altered the paperwork since the verbal agreement. But then nothing came of it, so what was the point of the sequence of events? Strangely written.

I actually enjoyed this one. I just watched it earlier with my grandmother we both were into it. I will never shit on Tyler because of the job security he always gives to the ones who stayed down with him from the start and even ones he works with later. I love this for my people.

    • @MylezNevison
      @MylezNevison 18 дней назад +4

The job security Tyler (the person) offers black actors is a good thing, but the art that Tyler (the artist) is having the black actors produce is bad. I think it's okay to separate the art from the person and call the art shit when it is. Criticising the art shouldn't be seen as an indictment on the person.
Tyler's situation is bittersweet because it's like a man who does the good deed of feeding homeless people. However, the catch being, most of the food he feeds the homeless is rotten... It's a moral conundrum because rotten food in the short term is better than no food at all. However, the same rotten food has the downside of making those hungry people sick in the long run. It's a lesser of 2 evils scenario.
So, Yes, Tyler may indeed be providing job security (food on actors' plates), but in the longrun the quality of the work will never showcase his actors' acting chops/talent in the best light (potentially making it hard for them to be taken seriously). Just as the rotten food robs the homeless' health, bad acting gigs/bad movies rob an actor of being considered for future good roles (it kills their career in the long run as they will be type-cast as bad film actors). That's why we should call out the bad art; to put pressure on Tyler to improve the quality of his work. It's not only for the sake/health of his actors' futures, but it's for himself too.
*Spare the rod, spoil the child.*

I had no point of reference to know he'd be that type of person bc I'd never met anyone like that before, and hadn't seen the women in my family dealing with that type of man. I got away from the situation, but he was an off kilter angry like Hardwick played. It was realistic to me, but her reaction to it was way different from mine, bc I wasn't trying to fight to stay w/him. I was trying to get away safely.

It means that if the first half is as bad as you say, I can't just jump up and go in the kitchen for another cookie, peanut butter bread or fruit snack. New subscriber. Great video. Tyler Perry is still in the Golden Girls and black trauma/woe is me area of life. I didn't go to film school, but I just have a way of looking at a film and interpreting it. One thing that is a standard in film school and/or film classes is watching Alfred Hitchcock films. You will see his techniques manifested in a lot of films made by white writers and directors.
Many of the Mission Impossible films have the Hitchcock touch. When Tyler was on the set of Gone Girl, he listened to Ben Affleck discuss a scene, and Ben and the writers/directors mentioned Hitchcock. Tyler said that he didn't know anything about what they were discussing.
Watch films. Study them. At this point, Tyler is just making films akin to black exploitation. This time he is luring black actors in with money over substance. He is a billionaire, but they are not. They still have to work and get other parts in other films. He needs to consider that too because at this point, he is simply getting big name black actors to play parts to legitimize his work when the work is still revealing itself as unqualified.

You can see that Spike Lee's criticism of TP was spot on. He's perpetuating negative stereotypes of black people. Spike Lee and Ava Duvernay are good examples of how movies should be made.

This movie was bad. I was also upset because I live in Atlanta, Georgia and could tell that this movie was filmed in Savannah, Georgia. They kept saying that they will be "there" in 1 1/2 hours. It keot throwing me off because I knew that "there" was Savannah, and that it takes several hours to get to Savannah from Atlanta. I think Tyler should have filmed in a different location. Maybe Athens, Georgia.... to be realistic with the time distanance, and not throw off people from Georgia watching the movie. When you make a movie, you should be more responsible and as accurate as possible. Sorry.

The funeral was over the top. I knew she was going to kill him, but it was premeditated because where did her gun come from.

Remember, her Dad brought all the guns over; that's the one she picked, I guess. That was my reasoning. It was a lot to unpack.

No one called the police! Why didn’t we see any police action? The one time when we did see the police it was about dead animals!!!! So frustrating!
