You conducted a terrific interview, actually realizing it was about your guest & not about you. Joe is one of the truly good guys in the industry, I was lucky enough to meet him way back in the Audioquest days. He defines the meaning of a true gentleman.

Just got the tone poet mono Blue Trane and its amazing. For me it sounds like the guys are in my living room. Joe said its hard for an engineer to do what he needs to do and keep an eye on the band. Paul Rothschild walked out on The Doors the day they were supposed to start recording LA Woman. Bruce Botnick there engineer took over essentially as both. Lots of respect for that man.

The phrase ‘tone poet’ has been around for a long time. I just watched a documentary on Greenwich Village folk scene in the late ‘50s and 60s and a couple of the musicians used that phrase, possibly because of the mix of music and poetry readings in coffee houses

I don't listen often to jazz, and am near completely unfamiliar with the many of the major albums in the genre. Still recently I got into listening to more on Qobuz, and now want to buy vinyl copies. Hearing this interview was like a convo with a new friend about a passion and hobby, and now I feel I know enough to buy with confidence what Joe Harley and Blue Note have to offer.

Mr Hartley, great guy! Steve the bald look suites you to a tee!👌 I'm completely opposite! As much maintenance as I do, I envy you! But at 52 , I'm surprised I still have the same hair! What this has to do with the video, I have no clue! Anyway, I've been trying to keep up with all these great interviews! Keep it up!

What a refreshing conversation with someone who just “gets it” at his core. The thrill of what they’re doing triggering making a video to show the process. Like a kid in a candy store. And a proud worker wanting to show off their accomplishment. Kudos on a great interview.

Hey Joe, do you think we will ever see a reissue of those Tone Poets that were affected by flutter? The piano warble is particularly bad on "Black Fire". But also found on other Tone Poets around time period of being reissued.

There is no good reason to issue fold downs, or what I will call fake mono. That is only ruined stereo, and has nothing to do with a recording made live to mono or something actually mixed to mono from a session tape with more tracks. Joe is 100% correct in not releasing such records.
