Not only is the world growing dim, family dynamics can be so difficult when being a caregiver of elderly family members(my grandparents) and you just need the others to understand and they refuse and bring their drama into the already physically and emotionally stressful situation of watching your favorite people transitioning out of this world, hopefully into heaven. Wow, the struggle is real but I did work through it and my Christmas decor is even better than last year! I love my lights and greenery. I focused on adding things that remind me of the true meaning of Christmas. And I too love deer! We have 6-8 deer each evening come to drink from our livestock tank out back. So beautiful. I am glad you gave yourself permission to do less elaborate decorating this year, but I suspect I am not alone when I wonder how this is your version of 'simple' decorating!! If I am too stressed, busy, or tired, I don't need to push through. I need to find the compromise that will work for me. Maybe cutting back, getting help, or skipping something all together. I need to keep my sanity. Someone once reminded me that being a caregiver is a marathon, not a sprint, so I have to keep some gas in the tank. Another factor, as much as I might enjoy puttering around to put the decorations up, taking them down is a real chore! My go-to easy touches are Christmas pillow covers and throws, twinkle lights, chocolate boxes, lovely music and scented candles.
You brought tears to my eyes because that's where I'm at. My spirit has gone and I'm trying to find it. Between the bills and getting back to work everything else just get set aside.
I most definitely had the doubt about Christmas this year. Of course it was my mind set that I couldn't decorate because I had a bad fall and broke my elbow. After a few weeks of being completely being sore I started to feel better. I stopped the pity party and set out to decorate what I can. I'm determined to get it done. Long story short thank for your kind advice. We all have struggles and with our prayers and faith in God we can move on. Your home is gorgeous and is a true testament to the person you are. I think for me because of events in the world I feel like a much simpler very grateful Christmas. My son told me one year it looked like Christmas was puked all over my house. I went back to simpler times 10ft tree of course but cranberries & popcorn, cream colored candles, dried oranges & crystal snowflakes. I was missing the red so put on red ornaments but took them off along with taking down battery lights and berries off some of my shelves and my chandalier. I realized all the stuff was making me a bit anxious and was so much it didn't let the really nice pieces stand out. Your home is beautiful & cozy thanks for sharing it. ❤ How about adding a small string of battery lights, so it doesn't overtake the pretty wreath but makes it stand out. Love the blueberries!

I always get depressed this time of year and this year has been much worse. I just don't feel like decorating but I know that it will make me feel better after I do it. Hubby and I have a small, 50's Rancher style home with no place for garlands or decorating niches. It is always hard for me to imagine how to translate beautiful looks like yours into my little house. I'm so thankful for your encouragement to push through and decorate in order to not let the Enemy steal our joy in our Savior's birth.

I am glad you gave yourself permission to do less elaborate decorating this year, but I suspect I am not alone when I wonder how this is your version of 'simple' decorating!!
If I am too stressed, busy, or tired, I don't need to push through. I need to find the compromise that will work for me. Maybe cutting back, getting help, or skipping something all together. I need to keep my sanity. Someone once reminded me that being a caregiver is a marathon, not a sprint, so I have to keep some gas in the tank. Another factor, as much as I might enjoy puttering around to put the decorations up, taking them down is a real chore!
My go-to easy touches are Christmas pillow covers and throws, twinkle lights, chocolate boxes, lovely music and scented candles.

I most definitely had the doubt about Christmas this year. Of course it was my mind set that I couldn't decorate because I had a bad fall and broke my elbow. After a few weeks of being completely being sore I started to feel better. I stopped the pity party and set out to decorate what I can. I'm determined to get it done. Long story short thank for your kind advice. We all have struggles and with our prayers and faith in God we can move on.

I think for me because of events in the world I feel like a much simpler very grateful Christmas. My son told me one year it looked like Christmas was puked all over my house. I went back to simpler times 10ft tree of course but cranberries & popcorn, cream colored candles, dried oranges & crystal snowflakes. I was missing the red so put on red ornaments but took them off along with taking down battery lights and berries off some of my shelves and my chandalier. I realized all the stuff was making me a bit anxious and was so much it didn't let the really nice pieces stand out. Your home is beautiful & cozy thanks for sharing it. ❤ How about adding a small string of battery lights, so it doesn't overtake the pretty wreath but makes it stand out.

Everything looks beautiful!! Our styles are completely opposite. I decorate more primitive style. Having said that, I love all styles! I loved what you said in the beginning. I always get depressed this time of year and this year has been much worse. I just don't feel like decorating but I know that it will make me feel better after I do it. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing your faith. I know that my depression is real but I also know that the devil would love for me to sink into it and not get abundant joy that's just there waiting on me to grab hold of it.
