It is hilarious how so many fans complain about it going slowly. I am not bothered at all. Giving the world more depths draws you in more. I give it a 6.5 because the dialog in the limo was just a bit too exposition-y, it did not seem like a conversation two real people would have.
i enjoyed this ep a lot even thou its a full on build up episode my only annoyance with it was the first few minutes that felt like a bit long recap especially on top of last week having that 7.5 ep that being said love the whole build up and character bits we got and so looking forward to the pay off were 100% getting in the dungeon next ep
I personally don't mind a slow pace if it's done well, which I think it is in Solo Leveling. My only issue really is we are only getting 13 episodes now with one being a filler and the others come sometime later.
I am just not a fan of this split season stuff.
For us anime-onlys the extra exposition was fine ... this also builds up a little suspense for the next couple of episodes.
I wouldn't mind the filler if the dialogue didn't sound so damn unnatural and expository. Also this ep was just particularly atrocious, nothing actually happened, not just in terms of action or plot but even character wise it was pure waste of time
I thought it was going slow so I went and read it when I tell you it was worth it! I'm good with the pace now. This is going to be good.
8/10 Expanding the world so that our main character doesn't become a "Big fish in a small pond" allows events that would have hit just fine, to hit exceptionally hard is a useful tool little make actual use out of.
Despite having already read the novels and the manhwa, it's somehow so nice to have someone sum up the differences this neatly.
Thank you for the videos.
woah
Mr song seems a person that would be an amazing father.
As Jin Woo gets stronger bits & pieces of his humanity breaks away.
Got left behind to die (his kindness & trusting nature took a hit)
Got betrayed again (any sense of hesitation & mercy for human life vanishes)
Healer girl & Sword were his connection to his past as the weakest Hunter.
Wish that you were clearly wrong but things seem to be headed in that general direction. In his business though "blind trust" apparently gets you AND your friends killed. As for his pas as the weakest hunter I don't think that plays as large a part [yet] as what you're hinting at. We'll see how things play out though.
Both of you are right in preciving what's going on as someone who has read the first 192 chapters of the manwha. I won't say anything more since I don't want to spoil anything.
why the fuck have to spoil do u know how to shut your mouth up
the hell you mean by first, thats the whole manwha and after story@@Soundwave119
@@erutherford Unfortunately this is true in any capacity. Of course, IRL, the stakes are much lower, but you still have much to lose by being naive. Be it law, insurance, investing, and even personal life, it is always best not to blindly trust people. Everyone has their own agendas. This doesn't make them bad people, it's just how we are wired to survive. If you pay close attention, you will learn to discern who is worthy of your trust, because they are the ones who talk shit to your face and defend you when you're not around.
9/10. The pacing was amazing with this one and added a whole lot of depth. I think there was a lot of substance for those that paid attention to the details and opened up a lot of plot lines to the viewer for creating some suspense/excitement. Very enjoyable throughout.
I'd give the most recent episode a solid 8.5/10 (writing before watching past the past episodes rating card).
For starters I really like how they've emphasized that while Sung Jingwoo is at least trying to keep a low profile, everyone who knows him sees that something has happened. In particular I liked how Sing had questioned about his leg that had gotten chopped, only for Jinwoo to answer in half that he had awoken in the hospital with it intact. My father also commented it seems that after the incident, Jinwoo actually has a different voice than he did before, and everyone in the remade party acknowledges that he's no longer the soft boy that he once was.
I think my favorite part of the episode was when he was leaving the house, and he comments that he's going out to take on a gate, only for his sister to call him out since those used to be life or death situations, and that he acknowledged it as easily as if he was running out for groceries. He may be actively trying to hide his strength from others, but he's been failing miserably with everyone who had met him before the DD incident.
I'm sure that this is going to get clarified, but I definitely feel that the prisoners that are going to be taking part in the upcoming raid are less there as means to fill the 8 slots they need for the permit (especially since they've got a b-rank hunter overseeing them) as much as they are an excuse for the Hunter Association to see first hand if there was any interpersonal reasons why Sung would have survived a near total party wipeout twice in quick succession. The fact that everyone who responded to the call for the raid group was part of the original DD crew really makes it clear that the Hunter Association got those people specifically to participate, but that's just my hunch.
8.5 solidly. Great added content that didnt tske away from the story or pacing but actually wnhanced it and built off of it. Love the setup at the end for whats abiut to happen
8/10 for this episode. I really love the way they fleshed out parts of the world that weren't really explained either well or at all in the Manhwa, and also gave us as viewers bits and pieces to keep an eye out for.
Definitely enjoyed the extra development especially if we get the fight against the true faker next week.

A lot of people seem to think Cha running is silly, since she can't really get much better from it, unlike Sung, as it is stated in the anime, but they fail to realize that she isn't doing it to become stronger. It is simply something she enjoys doing.
No, it wont help her doing raids, but I personally love that she has a hobby that doesn't have an influence on hunting.
It shows off her hobby that we know for a fact she used to do before becoming awakened. In a way it is no different from Kim still practicing sword fighting despite not being able to use it in the dungeon. He is doing it because he enjoys doing it not to better himself in the dungeons, and the same can be said for the Cha
Well I think a common misconception in this anime is that they don’t need to train to become stronger. It’s as if you put a fat lazy s-rank against a highly trained in shape A-Rank. There’s a high probability the A-rank will win just from being in better shape. As the case with the old swordsman from the first episode. His skill with a sword makes up for his lack of power.
This is giving us hard-core fans the necessary world building we wanted. 8.5/10
Definitely, I just don’t like some parts they changed. The manwha did it better in the aspect of Sung randomly bumping into Mr. Song finding out about the d rank gate that way. And Jeehoo finally knowing what happened to sung
@zqShadowMonarch I get what you mean but it did kinda seem a bit too convenient that they just ran into eachother right when the rest of them were getting requested for a raid. The fact that Sung hasn't been able to go on raids because he didn't have the proper communication device makes more sense thematically in my head. Could he had run into Mr. Song? Sure but then it's too convenient that it happened just when he was thinking of going on a raid
@@one_punchline7478 that’s the point of fate. That’s why song said is this fate. I get where you’re coming from though
6.5
Its good and I like that they're trying to flesh out the world and characters, but its a bit hit and miss. I especially dislike the retreading of information like the car exposition scene, but I like that they get into explaining the guilds a bit more. If the car scene was actually worded and coloured more to reflect Jin-ho's dad and gave us more insight into him as a character instead of a stilted exposition machine it would be way better; like the talk about Jeje between the guild masters was!
On the whole I like what they're trying to do but right now the dialogue just feels too stilted and cliche half the time, but its got its moments of actually good writing I am appreciating the other half so pretty good over all!
Man the fastest you've made one of these for Solo Leveling!!! Thank you for your hard work!
Worked overtime to get this one out today!
@@AniNews I basically DO NOT watch a new episode-release until i get an AniNews commentary to go along with it. So your speedy overtime-work was much appreciated! 🙃
8/10, I really liked the reunion bits and i think the things they changed from the source definitely improved the adaptation without losing out on anything too important.
Also big appreciation for getting this video out earlier than usual!
You dropped this episode quick! nice!

"aninews- I should talk about guilds, its important to the story, during this week with a missing EP"
Sololeveling "so lets spend an EP talking about guilds"
9/10 it is reaally setting the stage for this dungeon jin is about to do, if you know the spoiler then you know why im excited!
8/10
7,5/10
7/10 the awkwardness was real yo! Glad the side characters , specially Best girl cha Hae-in are given more Focus! As fan of the Manhwa Very happy solo leveling has the adaptation it deserves
Naaah they leave lots of great details out since the beginning. Good but if you've read the manhwa... not perfect to say the least
@@emptyfueltankwym not perfect I’d say this is the best adaptation I’ve ever seen
@@emptyfueltank be happy it didnt go like how it happened with berserk. A1 studio is doing very nice job with it
10/10, we need more such videos ! great job.
Thank you for the content! Appreciated your Overlord videos back then and your Solo Leveling ones are great as well!
8/10, It was nice to see things that weren't in the Manhwa so it wasn't too boring. Cha Hae-In got some more screentime which is always a W, and it was nice to see things get set up for our next battle.
6/10 better than a recap episode but if they cut out the extra scenes they could have ended on a better cliff hanger when Jinwoo actually finds the source of the killing intent
6,5. Nice episode, next one I feel its going to be really great!
8. The reunion is important as the group serves as a point of reference and how far he is leaving the old him behind.
9/10 I'm always happy that we can see more Cha-Hae In.
Thanks!
I loved the episode!
I like to see what and why the characters fighting for, characters interacting with each other, how they change the world and how the actions of others change there minds and thoughts! It makes the story beliveable and organic. The end was awesome, to see all the reactions of the others and the underline message that the watchdog isnt there only for the prisoners but also to see our MC and check him out etc. for me 8/10
Nice video bro
I would say 7/10 it was a great way to see the other characters that Sung Jin will be interacting or seeing later on some of the pacing was a little slow but it was vary chill episode can't wait for the next one also been injoying your videos for the past 3 years now keep up the amazing content.
episode get's a 9/10 in my eyes. it was superb.
the only reason for the docked points was that Cha Hae-in wasn't shown studying under mr. Song. their master/student relationship is very important characterization for both of them. it shows Cha Hae-in's diligence and insecurity, and also builds the reader's respect for mr. Song. two things which are very needed at this point in the story. since we see more of Hunter Cha soon-ish iirc, and having a grasp of her character outside of the dungeon is very important for a character with very muted tells imo (it's as if she is in a shell). I had a hard time figuring out how I would implement that setup tho. since we also needed a view into Jinho's world and it's goings on, since that cinnamon roll will be seen quite often. I think since we saw mr. Baek, that showing Byung-gu being pestered by Yoojin construction would be ideal.
but swaping Cha Hae-in into mr. Song's dojo, and placing Byung-gu in the scene where she was running is the only change I would make. thus this episode is very deserving of a 9/10. I'd give it a 9.5/10 if decimals were allowed.
(of note, I understand why they showed her running, but that's not important characterization until the epilogue of the story, so it feels a bit early...)
As a person that's read the manhwa (well, the first couple of volumes), I'd give the episode a 7/10. I loved seeing anime exclusive scenes such as when the leader from one of the guilds visited the other, and the attempted hiring of an S rank, nice to have a bit of tension and worldbuilding for what's to come. I hope that the next part is going to get animated well - not a person to give spoilers but hope the animators do some solo leveling as well with the fights haha. All in all, it's going at a slow pace at the moment but I hope they pick the pacing up a bit.
How likely do you think they will use a montage to go through all of the C-rank fights? It would screw with the pacing but I can imagine them covering the whole bit in 10 minutes.
9/10 I loved how they covered side characters more! It did slow down the episode, but I think it added a lot more value!
I did not expect you to be this early for a cut content episode.
I honestly love the changes with showing how the others were managing before the meetup
Solid 8/10... After the intensity last week, i think it was nice relaxation this time
A solid 7/10. There was a bit of character development here and there and it was a good episode to set up for the next big thing. A good episode.
8.8 great episode I can’t wait to see how they do the next one
Just finished catching up am loving this anime
Good video
7/10 adding worldbuilding is a good idea
6/10 i love the extra content but it still felt like at Waste of an ep
7/10 solid exposition and world building episode.
10/10 dude. I'm enjoying the anime on it's own merits and then coming here to get your vids for their own merits. 10/10 either way.
honestly i reread it just for a refresher and i dont really notice the cut contents and im loving the new forshadowing and death flags raising
8/10 episode, good step up and world building, plus character development that the original definitely needed
The anime paid attention to the biggest problems the manwha had and is putting more time into fleshing out the side characters.
That nightscans logo at the intro
8/10. The character building in the episode was perfectly executed and paced.
8/10. I like the setup and expostion
I loved this episode it really showed how dangerous the dungeons were and what these hunters where putting in the line every time they stepped in on
Little slower episode, but so much effort made into loving and hating each character, understanding the depth of lost s rank dungeon. worldbuilding like this reminds me of mushoku tensei's level of detail on world building and character development with a visually beutifull openings. As a manwha reader and supporter of the animation and detail put into solo leveling i put 8/10 to this episode. Great build up for the next dungeon filled episode.
I give it the same grade, an 8, as the last episode. It tickles entirely different portions of my brain, but the quality is still there. I mentioned this elsewhere in comments too, but I particularly liked the bit with the abusive mother over the phone because it establishes why she's such an anxious person to begin with. I mean, imagine growing up always beeing spoken to like THAT.
W video as always ❤
Anime only guy, I'm going with 7.5 I really enjoyed the different characters' stories shown and what this raid is leading up to. Can't wait for next episode
form a anime only water right now this episode didnt feel much like a filler as it kept me focused and it worked really well to build up the next episode, i would give it a solid 7.5
6.5, slight spoiler regarding the S rank who trains under Song, it's actually revealed later on that it was in fact the blond S rank girl in the manhwa, which got totally changed in the anime.
We don’t have your replacement phone ready, but you’re still expected to respond to our phone call. What a well run organization.
Enjoying your videos, got the first light novels in audiobooks format. Really hoping the show last long to show the Demon castle.
Ima give this an 8, cant wait for the next episode
I really liked seeing the survivors from the double dungeon finally interacting again. I didn't mind at all that there wasn't any action this episode, this one having plenty of world building and such was enjoyable and appreciated. Strong 9/10 for me.
This came out much faster than usual
7/10 Good things take time to build up. Can’t wait for next episode.
8.5/10
Good luck with that in your info graphic :D But I did actually find it quite nice, so keep doing them.
9/10 If i need to see the next episode immediately, it can not be a bad episode.
First I was considering this more of a filler, but your additional info (combined) it makes more sense why they did it the way they did. 7.5/10
2 weeks break on an anime is wild
I give it a 7! Nice setup for the next episode
Solid 8/10, I always love some world building and getting to look into the lives of others besides the main character
I'd say it's a solid 8/10. All the scenes served a purpose.
- Baek and Choi's conversation fleshing them out as characters, delving a bit into the Jeju Island disaster and setting the board for the future attempt at getting it under control as well as showing how guilds interact with the general public. The way they cut the conversation was very well done, showing the important bit as Baek mulling Choi's proposition over.
- Song's scene fleshed him out and prepared us for next episode.
- Kim's scene was good too, especially combined with his demeanor when they all meet at the gate.
- Cha Hae-in's scene was there, imo, mostly because they want to introduce her to us little by little so she doesn't come out of left field when she finally becomes relevant to the story, and they gave us a glimpse at how S ranks fit together in the hierarchy by showing how she interacts with Baek and Choi. Her scene was also the cut in their conversation, which was an extremely good pacing touch. Good scripting.
7.5 love hearing your side
8/10 I've only read 2 volumes of the light novel but honestly I think the anime is doing a pretty good job of keeping the story flowing and adding bit of world building about the guilds and jeju island incident
If i had to rate the episode? 2, it felt like such a tease! The last episode left us on a cliff hanger and this episode left me hungering for more.
10/10 for this RUclips Video. 8/10 for the Episode.
I liked this episode especially the part with side character and also the guild information
9/10 i just love this series man
Having read the manhwa a couple times, it was nice to see scenes added in the anime. I’ve always thought the side characters needed a little more shine and this is what we got, so I didn’t mind it at all even though there were no action scenes.
I appreciated the anime bringing up the island debacle from a few years ago, since I had already forgotten all about it. I suspect Sung will go there eventually, otherwise they likely wouldn't bother bringing it up again. You're right; there was some decent world-building going on in this episode, even if the plot was rather slow (which isn't always a bad thing).
Always craving for more action but still loved the story building so 8/10 for me
So far the anime has been great! I really appreciate the extra scenes they are adding and feel like they help the story. at this point I think the anime is the best version of the story. 8/10
Seven words to make algorithms love you.
9/10
I appreciate the extra time spent on other characters and the world this episode added.
@10:52 When you're talking about Cha-ha, that is actually in the l. N. She is approached by Juho's fathers company. I have only skimmed through the webcomic as it costs $ to continue through, but I purchased all 8 volumes of the LN a long while ago which I feel produces the best in-depth build, to the world, and characters of Solo leveling. I can't start to understand the complexity of time constraints in producing an anime with a 23/25 min limit and still get the story out there.
Solid 7, i do dock some points for the scene of Yoo's dad telling us what he himself told us last episode (ie why he wants to make a guild)
7.5/10 good worked we hadn’t had a 7.5 episode into an okay world building episode
Things keep getting more interesting.
8.0. It still was a good episode to make us breathe after such an intense fight
Rank 8 - the loopback to the 1st group was really good and them actually talking to him about how he looks different was a nice added bonus since from our end hes changed alot but in universe its probably not as visually drastic
10/10 haven't read the source material but really like increased world building
I give the episode an 9/10, I found the world building very interesting and hope they continue to do more.
8/10 for me. I went and read the manhwa and the light novels after first 2 episodes. All these extra pieces and ways to put together background for anime only audience I thought was well done. It was less action packed than hoped for. Really hoping to see some serious action in the next few episodes.
Solid 8.5
I wasn't aware that most of it was filler but the episode did well to flush out the cast b4 the next raid. I'm pump for the next episode!
So hype for the sense he learn Arise!
God the fight was so so tight that the penalty zone some how saved him 😂😂
This ep was a 5/10. We had a recap ep the week before and yet again this ep was basically another recap. Mom in the hospital, he doesn't have the ingredients, he needs to get stronger, the dad repeats how guilds work and why he wants to make his own etc. Apart from the Chae scene with the recruit and later her guild master and the 3 prisoners, it's basically a recap ep. All the info we already got in the previous episodes.
As someone who knows all the info, these episodes can be a bit slow, but I do love the extra care they put into the world building and side characters. More about the other characters was something I always wanted, but in a story called solo leveling, you kind of have to expect a mostly one character tale.
8/10 I wish I was willing to wait until the season was over to start watching it aka cliff hanger every week. Saying that I have to watch it as soon as it comes out.
6.5/10 necessary development for the story but nothing that you hadn't already covered. I can only see this as a half-episode but the reunion though short lived was a nice treat.
8/10 --- Solid episode. I always find myself "wanting more" as each episode ends, they seem too short. This is a good sign in my opinion :)
9/10 i am actually glad that they slowed the pace to give it the time it needs to take it from "MC gets stronger WOW" to an actual cohesive story that will make the payoff of it finishing that much more impactful
7/10 like the world building and the next episode is about to be fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
9/10 love the side character build up
8 out 10 from me I love episodes that make the world feel a little more lived in. I also like the Idea this was done to help the Taito Ban recover.
We back!
Honesty I give the episode 7/10, got to see more from the side characters and enjoyed it, just felt like something was missing.
