I like the anime’s version of Sung being nervous and hesitate at first. Mentally at this point he’s still the weakest E-Rank Hunter, so it makes much more sense that facing these kinds of enemies in such high numbers would put him on edge.

For sure. I even fully expected the first couple of Lycan to tear him up pretty badly while his other stats were terrible, and only once he gained a few levels and got some more confidence it would progress mostly as it did.

I also like it more in context how little time we have seen him improve and fight. He had to be insecure about it to have a hard fight and triumph while struggling with only 15 minutes of runtime I think. Haven't read source material tho.

I haven't read the light novels but I'm glad the anime and Manhwa made the lycan's stronger. It made Jinwoo's growth seem more earned as well as highlight how he was gaining more mental fortitude. Agility Isn't making him See mobs moving slower, he is moving that much faster. The strength speed increase was a small fraction of x1. So that all the strength increase could possibly x1 + Strength / 500. So by the end of his levelling would be to add x0,6 to x1 for a max speed increase of x1,6 (This is achieved at the end of the Manwha). This is why he doesn't see the mobs slowing down due to strength. But with agility we see a much level increase in speed, possibly x1 + Agility / 10. By the end He has a speed increase of x1 + x34 = x35

As a manhwa reader, I was disappointed to not see Jinwoo one shot the D rank boss. To me, him merely breaking the defense downplayed his grinding of the instance dungeon. Him only throwing the broken sword, destroying the boss captured the disparity in how weak he was to who he is becoming. I felt that was pivotal.

Sung is broke not really greedy. Novel makes it quite clear he is the primary income source for his family. He's taking care of his sister in addition to his Mom's medical expenses. He doesn't have money 💵 for weapons. This is a contrast point between him and his soon to be best friend.

  • @JaredaSohn
    @JaredaSohn 7 месяцев назад +1

I appreciate the explanation for agility and perception as the manhwa doesn't (up till this point) address agility at all and doesn't say nearly anything about perception. You could figure out what agility isn't to some degree but that's about it and perception would only tell you that he can sense the power level of opponent/others better and wouldn't address the vision aspect at all.
I do have one recommendation on how I think you can further improve you already excellent content. I think it'd help to be a bit clearer when you're differentiating between the three source materials and noting which ones you are talking about at a particular time, as well which one's are essentially similar enough to be pretty much the same. When I watched this a week ago (I hadn't touched the manhwa at all till rewatching this video today to get a refresher on the agility and sense stats after watching the video you released today) and thought many of the things you talked about regarding the novel applied to the manwha when in reality it is the opposite, the manhwa and anime were so extremely similar and in many respects one to one basically. To reiterate, I think it would help your anime only audience to specify more clearly and deliberately which sorce material your talking about at a time and which one's are the same/very similar as to avoid the type of confusion I experienced.
For example at about @00:50 you talked about how our MC had a relatively short lived shock entering the instance dungeon and specified that was the anime. The way you explained that event here @00:50 made it sound as if the novel and manwha had the same telling of events, but that the short lived shock was an anime only change. The reality is that the short lived shock was pretty much the same in both the manhwa and anime, whereas the novel was different. There are other instances throughout the video where it sounds as if the novel and manhwa are the same and the anime is the one that's different, when (for this episode) it's the manhwa and anime that are pretty much the same and the novel is the one that is different.
A better example would probably be @2:37 when you mentioned that Sun abandoned his sword readily to fight with fists, that was something that only happened in the novel whereas the manhwa/anime had him more reluctant. the way you said it made it sound like the novel/manhwa had the same events and the anime was the outlier. This was further "compounded" @2:44 when you talked about the damage Sun did to the Lycans with punching alone shortly after the abandoning of his sword and it ended up one shoting the Lycans, but then in the anime the Lycans weren't one shot. The way all that was said, specifying how in the anime he was reluctant to abandon his sword and how in the anime he couldn't one shot the lycan, it just made it seem like those differences were only specific to the anime and that the manhwa followed the novel.
I'd point out other specific instances, but I've gone on long enough. I really do think you've done a great job overall though and should you make it more clear which information/telling of events apply to which source material or not, then it'll be even better! I might not have explained very well what I'm recommending as an improvement... if that is the case please feel free to ask for me to clarify, and I'll do the best I can.

I much prefer the version of the dungeon you're describing. As fun as Solo Leveling is, I felt it can get rather repetitive in its battle formula. I didn't feel that much intimidation from Igris, because we'd already seen him face overwhelming opponents and win many times before. The whole "OMG! This thing is way too powerful!... Wow! I won despite the odds!" trope can only be done a couple of times in a row before feeling trivial. Imagine if Gandalf had already defeated several balrogs before the bridge scene in LOTR.

And then later he suddenly just starts using technique practically out of nowhere. . . It feels like he is not getting stronger...the system is just taking over for him reprograming him. He is not so much a "player" as he is an NPC. He isn't strong the system is strong.

Very interesting contrast and would say anime makes a lot more since. Weakest hunter in the world, constantly getting beat, and going through a traumatic event. For him to have utmost confidence in just his first combat since that seems a little weird. The og source makes it feel like he started with like 40 perception to understand this new system so well so fast (despite it just being like a game assumptions could be risky given its his life). And given he did not level before this, and was the weakest hunter, grey name enemies did not make sense to start with, it does not sound like his individual stats mean anything for that, its just a level difference.

Wouldn’t it mean that he did get faster ??? If the agility made others seem slow because of “his eyes” but don’t that mean he himself is faster ? And perception is what makes his eyes so good rather than agility ?

i liked the novel version more bec the anime made me feel that sung became stupid and the boss fight was like he have unlimited life points which really took the tension away. .
he was weak,so he needed to think more and be smart at everything to survive. .
the anime boss fight was like a planless unli hp slugfight. .

now the rapid growth makes sense.I didn't like it in the anime that much, but an 8 hour power grind explains a lot

He could use the potion from the snake boss at anytime he just didn’t think about just yet. He realized he his passive skill negates status rebuffs and cancels it out, it’s he same passive sill the healed his leg.

Novel jin woo: i have the power of gamer coming from who know where, an no i get traped in a unknow dungeon, let power farm it like i play a game even thou this is real and i can die for real
Anine jin woo: act like how a normal person would most of the time, the dugeon is can actually kill him and he know it(heck, he act with it in his mind, unlike the novel where he power farm it)

I just realized maybe the volcano island ants at the start are coming out from a dungeon break similar to what happened in the golem entering real world

I think the biggest difference is that in the anime Sung entered the instant dungeon one week after he wake up in the hospital (this is according stats str=31, (31-10)/3 =7). In the manhwa its 4 days after he wake up str=22. (22-10/3=4).

I hate when they do this shit. I read the web novel. I want to watch what I read so I can see it play out. See the fights. I'm not watching to see a different story all together
