Depressingly accurate description of any place owned by a corporation pretending to be hipster, while still thinking hipster is what we are all about...we're not.
Thanks for sharing Mr W. I'm off to wallys cafe in Acton (Suffolk) bacon sandwich and a cup of tea. Proper job.

Also a big fan of roadside vans. I have learnt long ago not to spend a load of money on poncy shite food.

Thanks for visiting and taking the time to make a video, but it is full of assumptions and inaccuracies, and all you had to do was say hi and ask us.
I'd also like to suggest you come back, maybe on a weekend or evening where there is a bit more buzz, and meet us, the owners, operators and community around the Bike Shed, to see what we are really made of, what drives us, where we come from - and even why we are more recently called Bike Shed Moto Co, which is boringly simple and has nothing to do with any fictitious visits by the HA or any other MC - although I do like a good story with implied violence and badd-assery.
You might be pleasantly surprised to meet a bunch of normal nice people (neither hipsters, naive Brits, late-stage capitalists - whatever they are - nor a corporation) who simply love bikes and have tried to build the best space they could to celebrate the people and culture around motorcycles - despite Covid, Recession and the insanities around operating any business in Los Angeles. 2,400 people a week each in London and LA seem to like us, so perhaps we might be worth a proper review. Come and say hi and get the real lowdown.

Thanks for your comment Dutch. Not that you’d remember, but we’ve actually met several times. In each instance, you had very little time for me. Understandable, I suppose. I am no one of significance.
I should also note, I’ve visited the London location on several occasions - quiet days, busy weekends, as well as packed special events. Alas, the crowds do not change my estimation of the venue.
As far as my video is concerned, I am not sure what assumptions or inaccuracies to which you are referring. I simply relayed my experience of our visit. I congratulate you on your success. It is no argument that you and your partners have cracked the code for a motorcycle themed attraction, but let’s not pretend ourselves as to what you’ve created.
Not that I used the term in my video, but according to Marxist literary critic Fredric Jameson, ““Late-stage Capitalism” is characterised by a globalised, post-industrial economy, where everything - not just material resources and products but also immaterial dimensions, such as the arts and lifestyle activities - become commodified and consumable.
In this capitalist stage, we see innovation for the sake of innovation, a superficial projected image of self via celebrities or “influencers” channelled through social media, and so on.
In this time, whatever societal changes that emerge are quickly transformed into products for exchange.”
      Apt description, I’d say.
Anyway, thanks for your comment. Don’t worry about little ol’ me. This video has less than 600 views at the time of your comment. You have 4,800 customers a day at your locations, nothing to worry about.
      Ride safe.

Come to San Francisco. Specifically the Dogpatch. Motorcycle culture here is under the radar but we are the top 5 (beating LA) in charitable donations to causes like DGR and Moto social routinely brings out hundreds to the monthly summer takeovers. It’s time for SF to level up its already incredible motorcycle culture with a home base.

That places looks huge. I've always enjoyed my visits to the shoreditch original version, and my sense is that Vicki and Dutch are genuine bike loving people, and for London bikers its getting harder to have a place to meet up, I've never experienced any snobbery and I've turned up on bikes varying from a Honda Z50 Gorilla, Triumph Cafe racer to a 60's Lambretta. Sure the deco and merch is aspirational, but all in good fun. Its a shame you didn't enjoy your visit, but nice video in that its saved me a trip to L.A as it does indeed look shite.

Go to the Old Stores Motorbike Café in North Wales. It's like a county pub in the depths of the Irish countryside as opposed😮 to o'Flannegans pub in Benidorm. The Old Stores is what these metrosexual chancers are basing their offer on..

America has a one-and-done philosophy to infrastructure. Also California has pulled the greatest trick the world has ever known, they’ve convinced the world they are green and progressive, but they are in actuality an environmental disaster, whose tightening policies are band-aids on a wound that requires a tourniquet.

“Gentrification” you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
-Oil made LA way before moving pictures. Some might say It’s still kind of important there still. Just close to 1/5th of the US output or something like that. A rounding error for a Brit, Im sure.
-Those Film studios go wherever the tax breaks are. This includes places with weather, like New Jersey.
Otherwise, the commentary was pretty funny.

    • @DickWhistles
      @DickWhistles  9 месяцев назад

Nope. Means exactly what I know it means. “the process whereby the character of a poor urban area is changed by wealthier people moving in, improving housing, and attracting new businesses, often displacing current inhabitants in the process.”
“Tax breaks” for movie studios… in 1911. Good one.
Oil was/is important to LA, but not to the establishment of the city. If the presence of oil was the driving force for urban development, then there would be booming metropolitan areas in all of the oil field wastelands across the country. (But what about Dallas…?) Don’t get me started. My analysis stands on its own two legs regarding LA.
Thanks for your perspective and comment.

@@DickWhistles He's not wrong. ruclips.net/video/5XimGagIVHc/видео.html Gentrification = ethnic shifting . The influx of new construction replacing old warehouses are not displacing once affordable housing as residential housing never really existed there before. The small business Entrepreneurs like Magnus Walker who owned in the area for 30 years are cashing out.
