All 4 major New England based teams are top 5 in BOTH championships all time and win percentage all time. Bostons undisputed best and most accomplished sports city in the nation
As a Brit I would definitely say Boston without a doubt
My top 5 best sports cities in America, combining success of the teams and the loyalty of the fans across all major sports across all time
5. Detroit- despite the poor success of teams like the Lions and Tigers, the Red Wings and Pistons are two of the most elite franchises in their respected sports history. Their fans still show up to every game, and the state of Michigan's love for their sports teams is highly underrated. Would include college athletes too if I could.
4. Pittsburgh- the pirates may struggle to compete against bigger market teams like the Cardinals and Cubs, but it doesn't stop the steelers and the Penguins from stealing the show. If I could, I would include the list of best athletes to come out of Pittsburgh over the years. Some of the best athletes ever were from that city.
3. Chicago- The only city I can think of that doesn't have a bad professional sports team. Bulls 6x Champs, blackhawks 6x Champs, Bears have 1 super bowl, but 10 nfl championships, White Sox have their ups and downs, but won a world series in 2005. Cubs had a long stretch of no world series appearances, but are always very competitive with a long list of HOFers to compete for their legendary team. Also won one in 2016. Hands down the best fans for any city in America.
2. New York-can't argue with the numbers right? The Yankees are the most successful sports franchise in American History, and it's not even close. Then you got the Dodgers and Giants who originally are from New York (sorry LA, but your dodgers are from New York). Football Giants, Jets, and Knicks have great histories as well, despite the recent struggles for all three teams.
1. Boston- the only city to put success together with a great fan base. Celtics are the best NBA team ever, the patriots are tied with Pittsburgh for most super bowl wins, and the Bruins have 6 Stanley cup wins of their own. Then you got the most dominate MLB team since 2000, the red sox. Only city with more championships is New York, but Boston did almost all of their damage after Babe Ruth retired from baseball.
Dodgers won more World Series in LA and have been in LA longer than they were in Brooklyn stop it so by that logic the San Francisco giants are a New York team as well lol that’s dumb.. it don’t work like that
And the Lakers are the best nba team ever they won the same amount of titles and won a title in more decades than Boston did they haven’t won since 2008 and before that 1986 in that span Lakers won 5 titles
I said both the dodgers and Giants are from New York, because that is where those franchises originated from. Does that upset you? It's simple facts.
LA just simply isn't a great sports town, the fans are pretty fairweather over the years. Recent success of the Rams, Lakers, and Dodgers have brought out the froggy in ya. i wonder where you guys all were when poor attendance for your home games chased all your NFL teams out of town in the 80s?
Can't put a city on the list when they've had teams straight up leave town because of how unloyal the fanbase is.

success may be a subjective term in many other facets of life...but in sports, success is equated to one thing only: championships!

Detroit has had two champion in the same year hockey and basketball almost baseball.
Detroit, A.K.A The City of Champions placed 6th, which is good but could be better since that's based on anything pre 2015 because after that, every team here hasn't been good.

For those that hate Boston sports teams keep in mind the Boston Bruins just had the biggest choke in the NHL’s entire history! The best winning record only to choke in the playoffs. Many of us may never live to see anything more embarrassing than that
New York sports has 9 pro sports teams, Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Islanders, and Devils.
Yes. The Devils are still in the greater tri-state area and the New York news covers them.
