*NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW* (Yamanai Ame / Endless Rain) Why can't I sleep? Why does the night end? I don't want anything, even tomorrow, the future without you. Why was I smiling? Why so though I was feeling lonely? Nobody knows that I really just wanted you to be by my side. Even the despair becomes the light. Though an endless rain continues to fall. Even the despair becomes the light. A sad rain throws a rainbow far far away. We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever. If the dream continues, I wish I'll never wake up from it. Why was I smiling? Why so though I was feeling lonely? Nobody knows that I really just wanted to see you. That was all. Even the despair becomes the light. Though an endless rain continues to fall. Even the despair becomes the light. A sad rain throws a rainbow even now. An endless rain fills my heart forever. Translation by DU-METAL
I have been a BABYMETAL for a bit over two years now, and I‘m listening to them every day. And so far I have not listened to this a song a single time without crying. Su kills it! And the guitar lines are very emotional, too. Please watch this version from Legend S as well. Su‘s Voice has matured at that point, and you can feel she‘s able to put even more emotion into it: ruclips.net/video/pDgqo6fcliY/видео.html What makes it even more emotional to fans is the scene where the camera shows Mikio, the guitarist who died last year, while the lyrics are saying „We might never meet again, but I will never forget you“.
⚡ / ☂️ 🌈 You can start to see how their producer Koba could hear Su when she was ten (or possibly younger), and plan to build a metal group around her "no holds back" singing. She surpassed this beautiful rendition with her performance at Tokyo Dome, and the version of this song at 'Legend S', her 20th birthday concert at her home prefecture of Hiroshima is even better. Leda Cygnus, the guitarist on the left, did the arrangement for the studio track.
Su has a better sounding voice live than most performers using autotune. Add the amazing Kami band, the stage production, and the beauty of this song and you have a moving and emotional performance. The even better version is the Legend S concert, it's epic.
Su's ability to convey feelings powerfully, despite singing in an understated manner and even to people not understanding the languague, is simply amazing. I never fail to be completely captivated bu her performances, and especially this song often gives me goosebumps and sometimes tears. I am a person that usually succeed in not getting carried away by my emotions, but there is 2 song versions by Su that I have never succeeded to keep my eyes dry for: One is the old "unfinished" version of Akatsuki and the second is the new version of No Rain, No Rainbow from the LEGEND - S - BAPTISM XX concert in Hiroshima. In both you can hear her voice on the verge of cracking from emotion. And also when you see the video of the last one and tears have already started flowing from her performance, and you see Mikio "ko-gami" Fujioka (R.I.P.) play, the tears become a river. Those of us that has seen many videos of him off-stage could not help loving his unusually and wonderfully gentle, friendly, humble and positive personality and it seems those that knew him IRL felt the same. It must have been devastating for his 2 little girls and his wife when he passed. Lots of musicians that knew him gathered for hold a concert to honour his memory and to support his family financially. It was also a great and heavy loss for the fukei (core fans) and I am sure for his students too. Just seeing Takayoshi Ohmura sometimes using Mikios favourite guitar to honour his memory tugs the heartstrings. In Mikio we lost a God of Guitar that stood out even among the world-class immensely skilled and talented musicians of BABYMETALs KAMI-BAND, and he put little bits of hyper-advanced technical fusion stuff (hear 仮BAND for more such) into his solos that went whoosh over most of the fans heads but still left us all awed, together with his god-level modulations using the whammy-bar and the rest of his immense skills, but for many fukei, the loss of such a wonderful person was a much greater loss still.
You're a very empathic person, so am I. That's why we get emotional so easily. For me, watching this performance again through you, I had red eyes, but your reaction afterwards is what made my eyes really wet. It was nice sharing this emotion with you man. Keep going, BABYMETAL is full of surprises and it's a rollercoaster of emotions ;). From what I understand, she refused to sing this song live until she was in the right mindset, because she knows it's a very powerful song and she wanted to channel the emotions perfectly. I think everytime she did that song, she nailed it. Props to this young girl. You're right to feel pain and closure at the same time. This song literally says "no rain, no rainbow". There can not be a rainbow in your life without rain. Because eventually with lost loved ones, all you have to keep is the good memories, and they make you smile through your tears. This song is about cherishing your good memories.
Hey @her-pjapan5514 ! I'm sorry it's taken me a while to respond as I am catching up to comments but I did do another babymetal reaction if you want to check that out. Thank you so much for seeing my reaction!
"I don't know what is it ?" Yep, it's really her ! Many of us are drawn into her performances, she is very inviting, demanding attention, whatever it is. But this young lady definitely stage presence. She goes trough life, everything by feeling it seems. The suggestion in the studio was to sing it in a similar style to Billy Joel Honesty. :-)
Thanks for doing this one - she’s awesome right? I’m totally on the same emotional train. Her voice just grabs you by the heart. I really appreciate your genuine reaction.
This song has still been performed only 5 times. It was ready for the first album in 2014 (this performance was before that was released), but Su felt she was concentrating on the lyrics and hitting the right notes, she wasn't entirely happy she was conveying the emotion yet, so it wasn't on that album. Only when Su could see tears in the audience was she aware that she could effect peoples' emotions (no you are not the only one) - the song was included on the second album. You really need to see the video from Legend S, her 20th birthday shows in Hiroshima, her home town. It is on the Babymetal official channel ... she absolutely nailed it there. 'No Rain, No Rainbow' is at least in part a tribute to X Japan's song 'Endless Rain'.
Legend S was also the first concert Yui missed as well as Mikio's last performance with Babymetal before his tragic accident later that month. I second the recommendation to watch Su's performance of No Rain, No Rainbow from it.
Also, be sure to check out the fourth Su solo, "Akatsuki." Watch a performance of the regular version first: ruclips.net/video/g2372C5PJLM/видео.html Then watch the unfinished (stripped-down piano) version: ruclips.net/video/zS-gB0wYeM0/видео.html You will cry again, Nick.
Great reaction and yes we all felt this way sometime in our lifetime. Check out Legend S version of this Su's 20th birthday show . Goosebumps comes with the territory listening to BabyMetal and a tear in the eye and lump in the throat. 🤘😢🤘
You just made me cry too... Ther is no need to talk a lot from a babymetal´s song... It is what it is, Su's voice is just amazing and you can feel the emotions through her voice... Great reaction, keep it up //>
I'm very happy for you. You have a great sensitivity, this will take you to beauty where ever you go. Suzuka Nakamoto is a living miracle, as well in humbleness and pure elegance of being. Your reaction moved me. So do go on reacting on Babymetal, if you please.
Especially the legend s one when she looks like and sounds like she’s about to break down in tears. Every time I see that one Su takes a bit of my soul.
This one of the most beautiful balads of su but you should watch (for personal experience) the recent performance from 2018 at hiroshima... i cant tell why but it su just gets inside your heart and you can really feel the song...
I will only say this: BABYMETAL may in fact be on another plane. Since day one, certain things that they do can make you very emotional and from talking to other fans, it's a very "per person" kind of thing. Like what makes you emotional might not make me emotional and so on. There is, in fact, something about Suzuka's voice and emotion that gets into your soul. Into your bones. I have always been very passionate about music, but BABYMETAL has brought out emotions in me that I have NEVER felt in my 48 years on this earth. It has truly been a rollercoaster. In a good way. I'm not dogging them at all. This is what music is meant to do. Stir emotions, right? It's great to see that there is newer music out there that does that after so much "boiler plate" rock (in particular) has been shoved in our faces for so long. It's refreshing, and this version is nowhere near as emotion as the Legend S show of 2017...That one kills me inside... ruclips.net/video/pDgqo6fcliY/видео.html
Although a by-the-numbers balled, it is so well written and performed that this is impossible to not love. Music is about emotions, period. Unlike most Metal, which focuses on anger and spite, Babymetal chooses to explore other emotions, heartbreak in this song. When I first listened while reading the lyrics, I was reduced to a blubbering baby.
offtopic: Kevin, you need to listen to Devin Townsend's stuff too ;D a great canadian genius you might like. (he's besides BABYMETAL my favorite artist) Try either Empath (proggy as hell but really upbeat and happy) and from his former band Devin Townsend Project, the LP Transcendence(which would make the better start i believe) i'm curious what you think about that ^^
Thank you again. I like when someone else is being that emotional while watching BABYMETAL as I do. BTW, I don't know if somebody mention it already, but this song is a tribute to legendary japanese band X Japan and their song "Endless Rain", which is some kind of similar. There is a one of most emotional videos on RUclips, where they singing that song as a last song on their last show. You also can try to react to it, but you will drown in tears ruclips.net/video/ztvMwmPaByg/видео.html You can see that it's like an answer: - Endless rain? - No rain, no rainbows.
I know this is a bit of a late reply, but I will make that my next babymetal review. I am currently going through a big change in my life so this may be the right time to follow the advice. Thank you very much for your kind words on the previous reply as well!
Thank you for the good reaction! This performance was in 2014 and SU-METAL was only 16. You can see how she sang the same song when she turned 20 at: ruclips.net/video/pDgqo6fcliY/видео.html
Su actually wrote this song which just makes it even more amazing. She's the queen for a reason. But you really need to learn how to make videos. How did you not hear the ambient white noise coming from your mic or something in your room? It completely overpowers the BM videos audio.
*NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW* (Yamanai Ame / Endless Rain)
Why can't I sleep?
Why does the night end?
I don't want anything, even tomorrow,
the future without you.
Why was I smiling?
Why so though I was feeling lonely?
Nobody knows that I really just
wanted you to be by my side.
Even the despair becomes the light.
Though an endless rain continues to fall.
Even the despair becomes the light.
A sad rain throws a rainbow
far far away.
We shall never meet again,
but I want not to forget you forever.
If the dream continues, I wish I'll never wake up from it.
Why was I smiling?
Why so though I was feeling lonely?
Nobody knows that I really just
wanted to see you. That was all.
Even the despair becomes the light.
Though an endless rain continues to fall.
Even the despair becomes the light.
A sad rain throws a rainbow
even now.
An endless rain fills my heart
forever.

you think he is ready for the Legend S version ? it will be nice to watch his reaction since he know the big line of the song meaning.
Have you watched legend 1997 version?
ruclips.net/video/6otoqJ_oKI4/видео.html rip mikio😭😭😭
Music conquers all. Amazing music heals all. This song, along with Akatsuki, embodies all that and much more.
Yes, queen Su. Beautiful voice. She delivers every time.
Beautiful reaction👊🏽🦊🤣👀⚡️ Su has snatched another soul! This definitely does the same for me..
Absolutely! This group is just incredible and i enjoyed every song i have reviewed thus far!

It has a connection too to the Guns and Roses song "November Rain" which was itself inspired by X Japan's "Endless Rain".
Great reaction and yes we all felt this way sometime in our lifetime.

Thank you for your beautiful reaction!
Yeah , No Rain No Rainbow is a serious hit to the feels.. is up there with "Memories" from Cats
This song was a wild experince. Such grace to the lyrics and the way the chorus rocks the soul is astounding!
Welcome to The One. They helped me recover from sadness in life.

Awesome song. Awesome review. ♥️

Oh yeah, this is the Queen at her 16. Suzuka Nakamoto from Hiroshima at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo 👑🦊🤘
Great reaction! 🖖
Great reaction brother 👊🏻
I cried 573 times by this song , Amore and Akatsuki .
The song has no border.
Her voice and singing goes to you directly.

You should watch the legend s version, it's even more beautiful live version
Legend S, is the quintessential version, it's when she's matured and understands the context of the song.
You should watch Akatsuki (unfinished version) its another ballad piece.
You'll love it too if you loved this
You should check The Legend S version. Su almost sheds a tear there, you can hear her voice cracked a little bit
yes the song is sad but after the Rain there will be Rainbow.
Not this time. The verse mentioning the rainbow is a desperate attempt to keep the illusion of hope. But the rain is endless for this time.
su has a very beautiful voice
and I cried seeing this video

You can see that it's like an answer:
- Endless rain?
- No rain, no rainbows.
Nice reaction!!
Also you have to realise Su was only 16 or 17 when she sang this...impressive huh?
We miss you Yui.....
When you get a chance watch the legend s version of this song where su almost cry's
This song is really underrated. It really screams kingdom hearts.
