    In conversation with Dr. Piyush Ranjan, Vice-Chairman and Senior consultant at the Department of Gastroenterology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, who performed Plasma Exchange and saved the life of a patient who was in dire need of a liver transplant.
    The case is of a 52-year-old male patient who was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi with symptoms of jaundice for 2 weeks followed by altered consciousness. He further developed ascites which basically is the accumulation of fluid in the abdomen and decreased urine output.
    On further investigations, he was detected to be hepatitis B Virus positive, and hence a diagnosis of acute on chronic liver failure secondary to Hepatitis B virus reactivation was made.
