Nana opening her 1984 Herod Atticus Concert; a concert meant to celebrate the return of Greece to democracy after a long military dictatorship. So, the event couldn't have more sense that day! Greece returning to democracy and the beautiful voice of THE wonderful greek singer reminding Athens (and all of us !) about what it means to be human, to be respectful, to be sensitive, to be a true citizen of the world. The melismatic design and character of this melody, combined with the beautifl sound of the bouzouki, all adorned by this wonderful lady's voice and delicate body language......just sit and enjoy! What more could you ask ?

La raison de son retour tardif sur une scène grecque ne nous regarde pas mais d' autres personnalités se sont investies poliquement et artistiquement après la chute des militaires et même avant. Je pense surtout à Mélina Mercouri. Cependant Nana Mouskouri est une immense chanteuse qui représente très bien son pays. De plus je suis chanceux : j'étais en 1984 a ce concert inoubliable. La dictature a pris fin en 1974. Nana Mouskouri pour des raisons personnelles a préférée retourner sur une scène grecque bien plus tard. C'est son choix. J'étais a Harrods Atticus pour son retour.... sublime et inoubliable. Merci madame Mouskouri

I feel very priviliged to have watched her in the UK, at this theatre in Athens and at the ancient thatre of Curium in Cyprus. She is simply majestic. I also have an old LP of hers, titled the British Concert, from the old days when she was with the Athenians. Some of those performances were simply unique, but the LP was never produced on CD - i know because i searched long and hard. If someone has a video of those live concerts, please upload it - particularly of 'Thalassa Platia'.God bless you

Mais la chanson qui parle d un petit serpent près du ruisseau, et à qui sa mère dit qu elle suffira quand il deviendra grand et prendra sa liberté, symbolise je crois l idée de la libération du peuple grec après la dictature des colonels. Thank you for hinting to the Berlin version, which i just listened to. Not sure if it's better or not, but to sing such a difficult song acapella and without a microphone, after a two-hour concert, is something almost beyond imagination. Such courage, such determination and such respect for her public. This woman doesn't stop to amaze me.
