The most important thing this guy missed, was before you lock it up into a tie: you have to kick the floor with your heel so that your heel is secured in the back, and then you tie it up. Without your heel being in the proper position, you wouldn't feel the effects of this shoelace tying but instead get sore feet on the top from tight laces
nahh, why did this just come up on my reccomendations cuz yesterday i was messing arround and put the laces thru that little loop tab at the back, then through those holes, tied them around my ankle, and dubbed them the 'no gripper steal 9000s'💀
Cool to look at running shoes on people a race to see if they use this. At my last race, was just a few. This tie was one of the first things taught to me 20 years, figured it was known in the running community. If you haven’t tried it, do it on ur next run, it makes a huge difference. Happy Running, stay healthy and injury free!!
Guys, I changed to flat running shoes, and when I run I don't strike my heel first. This running style is the running style of the ancients, it's older than shoes! It helps to improve running technique because at full sprint you never strike your heel anyway. Plus it helps to maintain proper balance in your skeleton as it can prevent and reduce the effects off adaptive shortening that occurs when wearing and using running shoes with a heel. Overall, my feet are stronger and my running technique has improved dramatically, and my posture too!
That’s one way, but it’s easier to skip second to last hole and go up through last hole first, and then lace back in the second to last hole, then tie. Saves on lace length if you need it.
My job as a shoe salesman is relevant. Heel slip is something people can ignore but when you get that locked in it feels much better. Especially for speed work you need to be reducing any extra motion in the shoe that does drag you down progressively.
It’s also meant for people with high arches. The top lace can conform to the foot better at the top of the foot closet to the ankle. The middle portion can stay loose to conform to the top of your arch more comfortably, and without your shoes falling off. That would explain why shoes not meant for the running track have the extra holes on top.
i call it lock lacing. i do it normally on my shoes cause i have long feet but small ankles, and have to get mens size shoes to fit my foot, however it leaves it loose around the ankle, so i just do a lock lace
I learned about this a while back but I was so grateful for it when my spike came untied during a race. This lock was the only thing that kept my shoe on tight.
Just gotta mention, pull forward juuuust slightly as you make the final tie, you'll feel it against your heel as you do. This tie made a massive difference for me in comfort level, helped me stick with it!
yup me and all my soccer teammates have been doing this for a long time, except for us its to eliminate any dead space in the cleat that might cause blisters to form bc of the sudden change of speed and direction that constantly happens
Used to always do this while playing basketball, but last 2 problems are broken ankle and a busted knee caps which is unfortunately unrelated to this video so thank you for wasting your time if ever you read this
I don’t run much but I DO have chronic ankle injuries since a mistreated fracture 5 years ago. This is going to be so useful in (hopefully) my last recovery!
I've been doing this for 10 years. It 100% works!. One problem is most laces aren't long enough to do this. You can either get new ones or just re-lace but miss a few holes.
Tried this technique once on the ASICS novablast 2 and it completely destroyed my heels with blisters. I know it is a good advice but be aware that for some shoes this might not be the way to go
Correction on one thing, put your foot all the way up when tightening. If you do it while flat, it'll over tighten. Also, pull the strings straight out and not up. I wear my shoes this way after getting tendinitis.
Runner here, and I’ve been doing this loop on all of my shoes, but I didn’t realize that hole was designed specifically for it. I just thought it was convenient
This is just how you lace a paratroopers ladder lace. It was developed to keep your boots tight when jumping out of airplanes. The difference is we use this so called runners loop all the way down the boot
I needed this bro! I have a meet tomorrow and I run against Usain Bolt! I’ve beat him a couple time in the Olympics (for gold) but this is the main race for me. Good looks.
Won't tie my shoes any other way since I seen this way, been doing it for awhile now, ive noticed I dont hurt as much at the end of the day, to anyone who thinks it won't work, try it, and this won't work on all shoes
Who knew I needed an instruction manual to come with my running shoes this entire time. Damn. This is one of those things to where I'm just like why the hell did it take me so long to be taught this 🤣🫡 thank you
This is really Intrresting to have learned thank you! normally for my races I already have the lace in the very top threaded it helps to keep the laces tied up while there dabble knotted. I can't wait to try this out, though
Bro I’ve needed this, I have a track meet tomorrow and I was worrying the shoes would slip off
Gotta getchu some spikes
How’d it go?
Yeah how'd you do AJ??
How'd it go
how’d it go
Bro, I don't run, but I need this 😅
I do it on my vans keeps the top tight but the bottom toe box loose try it once
Bro
Yay I made it 1k 😊
No you need shoes that fit
Just wear boots like an adult
A man at a shoe store showed me this when I was buying running shoes. I was soo thankful he did. Saved me a lot of headache!
That was me my son. You’re welcome 😳

This loop is absolutely essential when running or any type of sport. Plus. If done right. It will never come undone
How do you do so it never comes undone like u said
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess the part that locks the heel wont but the knot can.
Someone told me about this a year ago and it's one of the best advices i've got! It helps a lot to keep your laces from untangling too
I need this so badly. Track meet in two days and this will be a life saver
good luck ‼️

Meet got postponed. Snowstorm happened 😢

More people should know this, it’s great. I’ve been using these on my Pegs cause they’re a little loose on my heels.
My job as a shoe salesman is relevant. Heel slip is something people can ignore but when you get that locked in it feels much better. Especially for speed work you need to be reducing any extra motion in the shoe that does drag you down progressively.
I needed this, in my 7th grade track meet my shoe slipped off with over a lap to go, I then got 5:32 which was a PR and continued my undefeated streak

@@goose4469 i naturally push my heal into the ground when i do up my shoes so it works
Holy crap im 40 and have been running my whole life. This took ALL the tension off my mid foot and secured the heel. Props!!
When tightening...pull down through the loops until tight, then tie as normal. Works more effectively 👍🏻
First time hearing this song on a video! Love it btw, listen to it so much. #NF
W!!
Been doing this on all my sneakers for years. It’s amazing what you learn when you go to a running shoe store and get fitted properly.
LOVE THE NF!
Same bro!
Brooo was looking for this commend
HELL YEAH. bro just put careful in there so nonchalant
I learned about this a while back but I was so grateful for it when my spike came untied during a race. This lock was the only thing that kept my shoe on tight.
Dang I needed this for work on the cotton fields tomorrow.
😂
lmao
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pulling the laces backwards toward your heel helps make the loop tighter to rely less on the final knot btw
Just gotta mention, pull forward juuuust slightly as you make the final tie, you'll feel it against your heel as you do. This tie made a massive difference for me in comfort level, helped me stick with it!
I did this with my high jump spikes years ago and it made a world of difference, made it feel so much more secure when jumping

Nf is absolute 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Let’s goooo NF Careful in the backround 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I thought I was the only one to notice! Let’s goooo BROTHER!!! 😋😂

I’ve done this for years because I have skinny feet and shoes just don’t fit in the heel if I don’t. It’s such a lifesaver

I use this on hockey skates and I helps lock the lace so you can tighten it easier
Hockey skates don’t have that
@@dylanplayshockey I just meant I use the top loop as one it just makes it easier
That’s how I tie my hockey skates kinda like that. Really helps get them tighter
I have been using this in hockey for the past 2 years
That’s loggers knot been around for close to 200 years or more
We like doing this in soccer/football as it lets people make quicker movements with the ball
Yes NF careful in background who else loves the new album
started doing this for the last month, it really gives stability around the ankles.
Careful is a great song.
it’s truly an amazing solution but the only problem is it makes the shoelaces a much shorter so double knotting is a headache
That song is 🔥🔥🔥
Careful by NF 🔥
Lace lock. Been using it for many years.

Gives the effect of a 45° ankle strap without having to have a 45° strap.
Keeping the heal in the back of the shoe.
I do this for volleyball! Learned it from a friend. Didn’t know it was an actual thing!
NF the GOAT fr fr 😎🐐
I didn’t know my shoe even had that.
Saves your heels especially on sprints and long distance.

Im going to try this for 2023 Black Friday season.
I just learnt this a few weeks ago! I had been running for about 10years and never known it.
Nice one! I didn't notice the extra hole before. Thanks!
Every runner channel is full of people who don’t run. There’s like 5 runners in all of the US.
Double knot works just fine
I needed this bro! I have a meet tomorrow and I run against Usain Bolt! I’ve beat him a couple time in the Olympics (for gold) but this is the main race for me. Good looks.
I do this all the time becaus eof my wide front and narrow back. Learned it from a running shoe store and it has saved me lol
It's asking for a sprained ankle tho, vs normal lacing which leaves less tension on the heel if you happen to hit an uneven section of pavement
My basketball coach taught me this in sophomore year also if you tie your shoes backwards it wont come untied
I use to do this with my last pair of running shoes but it was annoying to undo and do up so I stopped doing it. So definitely supportive but I cba.
I never knew an advanced physics class in lace tying existed!
Coulda told me this 12 YEARS AGO😂😂
runner loop so good, bro changed shoes in the process
One of my friends taught me this and my heels were felling alot better after practice i highly suggest it
Bro I play volleyball and as a Setter. This is a valuable thing to be told
It’s called a lace lock incase anyone’s wondering

We use this in football, highly effective for heel lockdown.
Great ankle support. Crazy something so simple helps so much

This is also something I'd do with hockey skates, really keeps them on there
I’m 58 and this is the first time I’ve heard about this.

i do that with cheap canvas sneaker type shoes, it makes them a lot more comfy
this is pretty helpful! I immediately trying this and it's pretty tight now
From a previous national 400 m athlete, bloody good advice.
