I would say the shed needs to be large cause living with a man that loves man stuff, I can always tell him to put his stuff out there and he cant complain cause it is there and not in the house😀
Definitely a larger shed with a hedge in front. You won’t regret it. You are future proofing, It could be a little workshop ‘boys’ to bond in when baby is older Also great you are breastfeeding. If you can/want to, breastfeed for as long as you possible , think about solids after about 8 months, better for the child’s IQ immunity, teeth, gut biome and of course attachment I am not a diehard advocate, this is research based advice, but obviously it is up to you what you choose, as there are plenty of people out there doing well who were not breastfed. Btw you look like you are the best parents.
Do the larger shed. My hubby had a 3 car detached garage built much to my chagrin. However, I’ve taken over 1/3 for a “She Shed” that I use more than I could ever have imagined. Win / win for both of us. BTW, Laura, did you really just have a baby? You look amazing!!
Ollie strikes me as a very agreeable person and when it comes to you he definitely is. Please let him win on the shed being larger because of all the work he has done he deserves it!!
I’m with Ollie the bigger the shed the better, it’s surprising how much garden storage you need when children come along, but it will be up to you two to decide.
Shed idea: the bigger the better! When the kids are driving you nuts there will be lots of room for them and Ollie 😂 I'm sure you'll make it great. Lovely to see you both so happy ❤
make the shed a storage shed / workshop for all of your DIY projects! You could sand and cut and pain in there. More storage = less clutter. More garden = more work/maintenance.
I think that I speak for most Americans when I say that we are not familiar with how the layout of your upper floors work. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE do a video walkthrough sometime from the front door and up the stairs. (When you showed the proposal for the bedroom and bathroom,I was thinking,WAIT,what floor and direction is that?)
I am an avid gardener, my husband and I create lush full gardens and believe it or not, I think the shed should be enlarged. There are so many online photos of lovely shed designs in narrow gardens to take inspiration from. You will love being organized and having a place for all your tools, garden supplies and children's toys, which will accumulate through the years.
Extend the shed all the way.I had a similar converstion with my husband 10 years ago. A decade on, our son has split it into two and hosts his friends in there most weekends. A really good investment. Who knew, when I agreed that I was future proofing for our teenaged son.
Maybe you can extend the shed by 25%. I’m a big garden area person, especially with children, they can use a lot of outdoor space for all their imaginative play, swing set, etc. Important to give them lots of outdoor play options instead of too much time in front of a screen.
Sorry Laura, I agree with Ollie on the storage front, maybe not necessary to go larger storage but certainly garden areas for different functions are gorgeous xx
I think the shed is big enough as it is! We have three kids (youngest is 3) and this is the forever argument in our house too.. however the kids live in the garden especially in the summer and they need a lot of space to run around in, have a little playhouse, kick a ball, have a sandpit and water play etc.. also it’s nice to have some flowers and have a vegetable patch as well as seating. You need to see where your sun is and, ideally, you’d speak to a garden designer to maximise the space etc.. there’s a lot that goes into the planning of a garden and people often overlook how much value it adds to people’s lives as well as the value of a property if well planned out. We also have bikes and need storage but looking at the dimensions you have (and the loft space!) I’d say it’s big enough already. Good luck - such an exciting project!
Re: shed, I agree with Laura, but I do see Olly’s side and agree with others that the extra space could be converted to a den/office space. It’s not a hill I’d die on so I’d give this one to Olly. ☺️
I am similar to you, Laura, and would prefer the garden. My husband wants a garden office desperately. We don't technically need it, but he really wants it. I know I get my way more than is technically fair, so I'm going to let him have this one (assuming I sign off all the aesthetic aspects 😄). I say let Ollie have his shed - he seems like he deserves it. 😊
I think you should challenge Olly to design the inside of his shed and what he wants in it ,perhaps a more high end shelfing system, try out where you want to hang bikes. He might he does not need bigger shed.
The shed has a decent size; 50-100% bigger is a tad too big, but an extra meter over the entire length sounds as a good idea. Looking forward to all the upcoming renovations. BTW, Teddy and Otto are always way too cute 🥰 when appearing in the videos… oh, and Teddy’s laughter at the end… 😍
Methinks family garden space is imperative! Veg garden, fruit trees etc. would add value. And if the shed was reconfigured you'd be able to get everything you needed in there... and safe, also it is my understanding same size shed means no further planning permissions to pay for. 🎼 Somewhere that's greeeenn🎶😜😁
Definitely bigger shed! Just think of all the tools and supplies that are in your home now - all over in different rooms. All of that will need to go somewhere when your renovations come to an end (does it ever truly end? :) I am a Professional Organizer my suggestion is to inventory all your tools, garden equipment, sports equipment, car needs, children's stroller & outside toys, any seasonal items and decor etc and draw out a plan for storage - work bench, shelving, cupboards, hooks... that will help you determine how much space is needed. It will also be wonderful to have electric out there. Also Laura, you may have an area in the shed for your gardening needs! I agree with other comments that it will be a wonderful space for the family to do future projects together.
Hmmm. A Laura She-shed or futute office ( not necessarily a man-cave)... Reality is you need a storage and working area as you move towards bigger family. That shed could be a kids play room with paints or ... Make one room in shed multiple use.. Have you put a fan or heat movtivated exhaust in the attic? Seems a regular install in most US homes. Will save storage items also.
I suggest you plan what your needs are, and how your current system is working for you.If it is truly lacking then additional would be a good idea but definitely not 100%, maybe 50%.You both look so content and settled and Teddy has just enhanced your relationship ❤
Laura and Ollie, I think the shed is big enough, to double it’s size and make it more beautiful have a Victorian pitched roof and put a mezzanine in the roof. Make the shed pretty to reflect some of the architectural details on your house, could look like a cute little garden shed. Love the idea of a larger garden, more plans/trees and pretty garden beds with lots of lawn.
I'm listening to this conversation, particularly re the shed; I predict that you will move house within 5-6 years! Also, having lived with an open plan (old stone schoolhouse) I rejoiced when we moved - and we had rooms, with doors on! It was heaven. If I was you, I would think very carefully about taking down your sitting room wall and going fully open plan. Believe me, the novelty of that wears off, very very quickly.
Hello from the U.S. The choices of tops to bottoms to dresses fit you so cute. So adorable. Your hair.... is always gorgeous. Giving you a pep in your step in case you need it 😊 I can't wait to see when renovations are fully completed. Much blessings to you and your sweet family. 🏡🦋☀️
Lovely family update, I think the navy shirt looks indigo which is a gorgeous colour. Fantastic you have like minded neighbours, makes life so much easier! x
I feel that Ollie needs a BIG shed and workshop. He has developed into a great craftsman. Also with Children there is never enough room for extra garden equipment etc. Better protection from the winter weather as well as keeping it all tidy. A Man Shed/Workshop is a necessity ❤
Compromise? Can a second story, such as a loft, be built onto the shed (for storage) allowing a 25-30% increase? You two are design masters…if there is a way to make this work you will figure it out! ❤
A shed can never be too big! Can you make it higher, like a story and a half for more storage instead of increasing the footprint too much? Teddy is a doll! Treasure these baby moments. Sometimes the days are long, but the years fly by! Lovely clothes!
Hi laura and olie baby teddy you are a wonderful little family just to say teddy will get so big so fast always remember play area for teddy laura you and ollie are so loving and careing sure you have thought this out❤😊your journey as parents will be amazing teddy is very blessed to have you as parents your wonderful❤❤sending lots of love❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loved seeing you all again. Your new clothes are so pretty. It is so nice that you will be able to have your extension. You two look so happy, lovely to see. Congratulations on everything working out for your family.❤❤❤
Laura, it is so cute and enjoyable to hear Teddy cooing on the video and to get a glimpse of his adorable face on camera. Your joy of becoming parents is truly a pleasure to watch. With all the remodel work ahead of you, you seem so patient and unworried about the projects to be done and it is apparent that no matter, you are going to remain a loving and happy family. Blessings on you all🤗
Wow! As it is now, your shed is larger than my living room, bedroom and bathroom put together! 😂 And I'm sorry, but I'm with Ollie on this one. A bigger shed seems like a great idea, even if it doubles in size! You'll probably need to store a lot of toys, outdoor activity stuff and other things as the baby grows older , and a lot of those are pretty big. Ollie might want a couple of new toys to fit in there and it would be amazing if he wants to get a little workshop in there for all your renovation adventures. I don't know what you guys need, but I think a bigger shed is a really good idea. 😊❤
I would have the largest shed you can fit in . Ollie’s right about storage, great for all the bikes , garden toys , all Ollie’s tools . We always put our rattan dining chairs and table in the shed . My daughter has had two sets to our one as she leaves hers outside ,it will protect them if you have a big enough shed ( Ollie I’m on your side ) he’s such a sweetheart he deserves a man cave .🙏
All sounds awesome for your new plans .. and I have to agree...you can have different zones in the shed.. workshop... storage...for Xmas .. and garden , mower's...bikes.smal potting area... You can always use the space....rather than wishing you had done it x
Agree with other posts. Personally if you are an avid DIYer.. which you both are. Ollie will always have a project on the go. Tons of kit needed for serious joinery etc. Also love the idea of a future proof Teen Den. Or even a time out zone! Children have so much stuff. Secure Bike store, & garden play items. Your plans sounds awesome. enjoy whatever you decide your home.
Lynne here from Canada. I don’t have a shed but have a garage and lots of storage in the house. A shed would be great in your situation so it’s a big YES from me. Ollie needs a shed. 😉
It's great to see you back Laura and Ollie, along with Baby Teddy and Oscar. You look amazing Laura and Motherhood suits you. Great to see Ollie being a wonderful Dad, not that I ever doubted it to begin with. As a couple you are inspirational. I know how difficult it is to juggle everything and you are both doing amazing. Looking forward to seeing your future plans come to fruition. ❤
If you want your kids to live with you as long as possible, as you say, then expand and futureproof the shed. Bigger shed = DIY/Workshop now (supporting your DIY RUclips channel which brings you income). Bigger shed mid-term equals storage (your Mum will approve). Bigger shed later = room for your teenagers to host their friends. They'll love the extra space "away from their parents" and will be more likely to stay and host at home (and you’ll know where they are). Besides, 2 patios seems busy, although I'm sure you'd do it beautifully. I'd have one decent sized patio for entertaining, then some grass area. Boys really just need a tree for climbing. And I agree with all the other comments that Ollie seems absolutely delightful, as do you, straight-jacket Otto and of course little Ted.❤
Oh my goodness, I’m clearly in the minority here! I have two toddler boys, and I wouldn’t recommend a larger shed over garden space. It’s hard to imagine when they’re as little as Teddy is now, but having that space at the end of your home for them to play in fresh air, learn to tend to a garden, jump on a trampoline, play in a mud kitchen… it’s just so valuable. And sorry for the gloomy thought, but imagine another lockdown with small kids and no garden! (Just my opinion, I’m sure whatever you choose will be stylish and perfect for your family x).
Omg girl your looking good. Being parents is really looking good on you and Ollie. I vote for the shed extension honestly. I say let Ollie have his man cave lol. Frees you up to get a room of your own as your interest change lol.
The bigger the (storage) space, the more stuff. It already is a pretty substantial shed, It is large enough imo. I'm with you, Laura, keep the garden and make an nice vegetable patch!
I agree with Ollie on the shed. (Sorry Laura.) I think making it bigger will be great for the future, or, you could put the attic things in it and then you don't need to worry about the heat up there. Thanks for the update on the renos. Whatever you two decide it will be gorgeous, I think we all know that.
Thank god for granny pants. I never gave them up after my daughter was born I couldn’t go back 😎 I have to say that shade of navy looks fantastic on you.
I have a couple of questions re: the extension. What does this mean for the green room and the blue bathroom section of the house? Will that part be affected? And if the extension won't begin until 2025 what is your plan for content on your channel? I'm really invested in your renovations.
Your shed should include a greenhouse as you took the other down. Once you have a little one and a dog and you want to try your hand at growing things later on you will need the space and to store Oliver's equipment and tools and garden furniture in winter. You look great and better than most do that I have seen and healthy too is good. I think wait a year give you time to establish a routine and recovery for you. Maybe waiting for your neighbours are doing their renovation you can work on a plan that works for you and them. I always thought it a bit weird those windows for the neighbour before. If they take the windows down first will save you the issue of having them as doesn't make sense to block them. Though if asked you could well move your kitchen into where your garden room is instead and use the space from there to the actual dining room space to make it more square. Use the former kitchen into an home office / study and craft room.
Also, what about turning the shed into an actual garage and building a workshop shed in front (where you currently have your BBQ area)? Our eldest just passed his driving test and 2nd is about to start learning- additional parking space is so beneficial and can add value. Not sure what parking situation is like for you so may not be relevant.
Ah, the shed debate. Figure out how to maximize the space for everything that needs storing (bikes can be hung for example) and then figure out what else it may be used for. I would guess you'd want a workbench and tool storage, a place for the mower etc. I'm sure your builder could help you figure out a new shape or layout if you don't want to size up. But it will get used! You guys are doing great with little Teddy and your adorable family video made my morning. Laura you look amazing! ♥Happy weekend!
Hello, so glad that your back, love your channel , you look so healthy which is great to see, Teddy is gorgeous and you and Olive are just the best parents…
If it helps - I’ve got a garage and two other small sheds. All are fairly full but if there was a need for more garden I could take a little shed down.
Our somnerhouse is smaller the that, 28 square meters, and we fit a smaller kittchen, a dining table, 2 bench sofas, a 160 cm bed, a logg burner, 3 double Billy bookcases, a smaller bar cart . So I think you don't need more space in a shed Ollie...
Regarding the chimney - I know in New Zealand, my friends and I have found chimneys oddly easy to dismantle - the mortar is weak, and never needs more than a tap with a coal chisel and a hammer.
I think you need to show the layout of the garden for us to have a good opinion, but generally you don't need to make the space bigger it just needs to be better organized (proper shelving, cupboards, tables that can collapse, etc). Generally resale value values garden over shed! But again, we would need to see the birds eye few of the garden to know if it's worth it :)
I am with you. My new kitchen had to wait for an ext to double the existing 120 sq m workshop. Only took 5 years to complete both. I was worried that I would be too old to enjoy it having already reached my 3 score and 10+
You will need storage room for prams, bikes, garden furniture, and tools. Outdoor and play gear takes up a lot of room and is usually dirty, so beat to store in a good shed.
I suppose plans for the shed would depend on if you're planning on staying there indefinitely. Im looking forward to seeing your adventures with Teddy. My daughter is expecting twins, i doubt she'll see daylight until they reach adulthood 😅
As an architect my advice is to have a nice storage space given the fact you plan guys to have more babies. Maybe a part of the shed could be eventually become children's play room or a sauna. I agree with Ollie.
Team OLLIE on the shed. With all your renovations and tools, you need it plus future outdoor toys. Definitely have it wired for lighting & power tools (& ahem, a fan & TV). 😉 You need a proper workbench. Maybe build it at the far end to give you more living space to be able to have a swingset in the near future, a picnic table, a kiddie pool and area for Teddie to run around.
I would say the shed needs to be large cause living with a man that loves man stuff, I can always tell him to put his stuff out there and he cant complain cause it is there and not in the house😀
Love this, SO true 😂
Definitely a larger shed with a hedge in front. You won’t regret it. You are future proofing, It could be a little workshop ‘boys’ to bond in when baby is older
Also great you are breastfeeding.

I’m with Ollie the bigger the shed the better, it’s surprising how much garden storage you need when children come along, but it will be up to you two to decide.
Laura - project manager
Ollie - doting husband
😂
You could turn a bigger shed into a whole workshop. As Teddy grows older he can help work in projects out there and store his outdoor toys.
I think this is a very good way to think about it. A storage shed/workshop is a valuable addition.
Big shed all the way. Future proof for home office, a den for teenagers, etc.
Oo I'm liking that idea. Den for teens is a must.
I’m team Ollie for the bigger shed. Kids have so much stuff - you will like having the extra storage.
I like the big shed idea. Give it to Ollie. (And I'm a girl.)
Bigger shed! You can never have enough storage, especially if you're a DIYer 😊
Mrs Dan Dare here to say let Ollie have his shed/workshop, Laura. Mr Dan Dare has two & they bring him happiness. That, in turn, makes me happy.
Shed idea: the bigger the better! When the kids are driving you nuts there will be lots of room for them and Ollie 😂 I'm sure you'll make it great. Lovely to see you both so happy ❤

The shed for Ollie……defo!😊
Pitch roof on the shed so it has a mini hay loft for storage so more storage area same footprint so you both get your preferred outcome 🎉
Extend the shed all the way.I had a similar converstion with my husband 10 years ago. A decade on, our son has split it into two and hosts his friends in there most weekends. A really good investment. Who knew, when I agreed that I was future proofing for our teenaged son.
Can you build a “two story” shed so that your storage bins can go in an attic space there instead of your house attic?
Extra storage is always a win especially as your family grows ❤

A larger shed would be great, not only for storage but part of it could be for a seating area for relaxing and pottering around with teddy.
Best outcome for an extension is neighbours wanting the same thing. Well done🎉
I say compromise on a slightly larger shed, slightly smaller garden! Olly needs the space!!
Laura, map the shed as it is on Floorplanner and then as Ollie would like it. You could even plan out the entire garden on it.
Also try mapping it out in real space outside.
Sorry Laura the granny pants are hard to give up 😫 they’re just so comfortable.
I am similar to you, Laura, and would prefer the garden. My husband wants a garden office desperately. We don't technically need it, but he really wants it. I would do a slight extension on the shed yes, so you have enough space for storage ☀️ can’t wait to see what’s next !
Exciting plans. Outdoor storage is critical to have. I'll just say kids need grassy space- just be sure to leave enough for play activities.
Loved seeing you all again. Your new clothes are so pretty. It is so nice that you will be able to have your extension. You two look so happy, lovely to see. Congratulations on everything working out for your family.❤❤❤
We compromised on a smaller shed. Should have gone bigger- now we have 2 kids with all their stuff, wish we had the bigger shed.
More storage is always better and you can use it for future kids things like bicycles and all that good stuff. You wont regret a bigger storage space

Lovely chatty vlog. The shed seems big enough to me 😂. You need plenty of space for outdoor play equipment. ❤
The bigger the (storage) space, the more stuff. It already is a pretty substantial shed, It is large enough imo. I'm with you, Laura, keep the garden and make an nice vegetable patch!
Sheds are like house storage, they can’t be too big! Clothes look lovely on you, and Teddy’s clothes x
The navy looks so beautiful on you. I think it's your color!
Love the linen shirts, the actual shade of the navy one I think is called French navy 🇫🇷
I am with Ollie on the shed conversation bit. The larger the space the better, then you can use it as a proper workshop, have more storage etc.
Kids have SO MUCH JUNK. I agree to prioritize a play area but the shed being bigger would be grateful for you both
Love the darker blu shirt on you laura.
As a 67 year old lady who has just bought her own shed / workshop, I definitely say get the biggest shed you can - you won’t regret it! 😊
Sorry Olliie
Get a bigger shed for outdoor toys and bikes, sports equipment, grilling items, camping gear, more tools.... I vote with Olli.
He is a beautiful baby
If it helps - I’ve got a garage and two other small sheds. All are fairly full but if there was a need for more garden I could take a little shed down.
Oh I'm with Oli, I love a shed. I have a sewing one, my husband has a train one, also one for the mower. ❤❤❤❤
Love the clothes you bought
Our somnerhouse is smaller the that, 28 square meters, and we fit a smaller kittchen, a dining table, 2 bench sofas, a 160 cm bed, a logg burner, 3 double Billy bookcases, a smaller bar cart . So I think you don't need more space in a shed Ollie...
Here's my idea! Rebuild shed but add a small greenhouse in front to disguise shed :) Xx
Regarding the chimney - I know in New Zealand, my friends and I have found chimneys oddly easy to dismantle - the mortar is weak, and never needs more than a tap with a coal chisel and a hammer.
Swing set and play area
I agree with Ollie.
We had a larger shed built and its a big relief having enough storage.
Remember the older your child gets the more he has to store in the shed...😊
I suppose plans for the shed would depend on if you're planning on staying there indefinitely.
Im looking forward to seeing your adventures with Teddy.
My daughter is expecting twins, i doubt she'll see daylight until they reach adulthood 😅
A bigger shed also leads to a space for the bigger outdoor toys you’ll be accumulating in a few years or an area to do seedlings.
Lovely video,…..what a gorgeous family! Xx
As an architect my advice is to have a nice storage space given the fact you plan guys to have more babies. Maybe a part of the shed could be eventually become children's play room or a sauna. I agree with Ollie.
Ah Teddy is so cute and I loved his outfit when you were on the beach.
Do whatever works best for your family and don’t listen to anyone else. It’s your life and your relationship.
