hhoward14 The oil was returning fine. Usually I maintain revs at 3000 at startup to reduce cam wear, but, this engine had been rebuilt some 60 years ago and was an unknown quantity. The client didn't get it looked at so I was balancing maintaining oil pressure and revving an engine which hadn't been run for so long. I'll add the the cambox had been opened-up and lubricated prior to starting it up. Cheers.
hhoward14 Cheers. It was difficult knowing what to do really - usually you start a manx and rev it fairly at fairly high revs which is supposed to reduce cam lobe wear. I'm always learning!
I have stolen this comment off another Penarse on a very similar film. Ahem” you can almost smell the Castrol R” Hahahahahahahahahaha and he got 14 likes hahahahahahaha
Wrong! It's a Norton Manx. I have a 1963 Norton Manx 30M (500cc) which I've had for 40 years. I have documentation of my bike including build schedule, parts lists, and correspondence from the Norton factory and it's always listed as a Norton Manx. You don't know what you're talking about.
@Robert Ryerson How one calls a bike is up to the individual. A Dominator is full Norton Dominator. Manx is full Norton Manx. Never heard say Dominator Norton. Just Dominator or lovingly Domi. So why Manx Norton? It is also Norton Electra and Norton ES 2. Excelsior Manxman. Triumph Daytona. Ferrari Daytona. Ferrari Dino. Fiat Dino.
It is beautiful beyond words.
WOW! Thats wonderful ! Thank You for the chat earlier Barry , Steve Foster .
That's 1951, only 5 years after WW11, and what a Beautiful piece of engineering, and a quick bike for its day.
It's still a quick bike.
Purrs right along 👍🇺🇸
Very nice re build! Nice to see a Manx Norton that will slow run.
Norton-----------------still the best.
muy linda motocicleta yo tengo una norton manx modelo 1949 doble arbol
It's a very good looking bike, and puts most modern bikes to shame.
Beautiful !
The Arter Matchless was still gjving Japanese fours a hard time in mid 70's saw one running 4th in one race WOW !
I like the way he kept the revs. down ensuring that the oil would get round properly...Don't ask me how I know.

Sounds like and old irrigation pump!
Maybe, but it pumps water like there's no tomorrow.
I had a Manx 500 years ago. I sold it for a small fortune in '87 and regret it
the Manx was not invented 500 years ago

OOh! Fantastic!
Superb bike
I wish I had the time and money to do this full-time.
Imagine, this was the Panegale of its time.
It was raced in South Africa into the mid50s, then it was no longer Competitive against the short stroke Norton Manx.
Paddy Driver!
I can smell the Castrol R.
Men’s Perfume!
It seems a little wrong not to bump start it but then I suppose with the value one can't risk it.
so two years after it was made, they never started it again?
Fantastic bike, shame the engine pipe wasn’t re-chromed
Do the air screw grandad
who dislikes this?!

Norton Manx .. Is the correct name!
40M = 350cc, 30M = 500cc.

@@dirkmul4802 It doesn't matter what pedantics think, it is/was always called a Manx Norton by anyone that was born before the 1960s
Nice
