Sorry in advanced if I made any mistakes (I did double check the video), but I only had one day with the 9600X.... However it was kind of a bitter sweet day.... how bizarre, oh how bizarre.
Think it's pricing just will correct over time, maybe a year or so, could drop another 80/so. Some channels are saying PBO on, showing better gaming/productivity results on Linux, maybe Windows needs to update for 9000, more optimization. Glad you're okay though. X3D chip(s) next month should be exciting.
Yeah that's what I was thinking when I saw the 9700X results. Why not let the 65watt part be the standard 9700 and make room for a toasty hot 9700X with 115watt. Weird, not super impressive results. Almost like a Zen to Zen+ jump. Maybe 10600X will be the real upgrade in IPC.
I got the 7500F for $198AUD shipped from aliexpress, intended as a place holder for these cpu's but I think I will keep it now, did the -20 curve, +200mhz, runs just as well as 7600 for $100 cheaper. Runs 6000mhz cl30 ram no issues to.

Thanks for the review and overview. I think, like a lot of people, I'll be sticking with my 5000 series for a little while longer. I will be interested to see how long it is before the 9800X3D is launched.
And indeed, based on the numbers (from HUB & GN), I decided not to, ordered a 5700X3D yesterday, which had finally dropped below a particular price threshold I was waiting for. That's me set for a good few years I reckon.
I fell off my bike earlier this year, planted mostly on my knees and left arm. The planting was so hard that I tore the labrum in my left shoulder and it dislocated. Got surgical repair right away and back to full activity now but yeah. Lucky I was wearing a helmet and protected my head, the most valuable asset.
BTW, I have read some detailed design analysis on Zen 5 and the conclusion is pretty much that it is held back a lot by RAM speed and it has really good AVX512. Anything that does not use AVX512 is basically leaving half the transistors in the core idle.
Seems okay with the pricing for launch too high. Over time it will go down but this is also an expensive 6core. Some channels suggest PBO enabled, Linux gaming/productivity results seem stronger too. Am thinking Windows might need to update for these to get better performance. Am thinking anyone with 5800X3D/12th gen/7000 series can likely hold off upgrading at least until X3D or R9s release, think those will be the performers. This might be a gen to sit out, well at least another month, see if those X3D deliver gaming performance.
what are your thoughts on $180 usd for a 7700 (as i’ve been seeing on aliexpress) and what do you think is the best value am5 motherboard? i think the 9600x (or more likely its non x version) could age very well, especially as with the low stock heat output they’ll likely be reliable for ages. maybe wait for when the prices fall, especially with weak demand due to the global economy.
Good Job, Sir. - I like that you didn't neglect the amazing low power draw and cool running chip, as well as the performance gains from changing power limits and undervolting. Gamers Nexus Hardware Unboxed and some other really failed in their reviews, being way too negative about these chips. Question remains, who is the target audience for this chip, maybe SFF PC fans or people who just like lower temperatures with the option to "overclock" it. Obviously these chips will have to be cheaper than the 9800X3d and 7800x3d (or those will have to be more expensive).

Good AMD... They have already adjusted the price of the 7800x3d to compete with the launch price of the competition's new cpu.... They increased the 7800x3d by around €50....
Interesting over representation of the games that depend on higher clock speed over cache or cores in your test. I mean most of the CPUs tested can literally fit the entire active CS2 files on their L3 cache eliminating any X3D cache advantage while highlighting X3D lower clock speeds. If you wanted to make X3D look bad the games you selected would be in the how to manual. How are you shocked when you know this is true? Most newer games are not going to show anything near this kind of behavior on a 7800X3, it will smack the piss out of the 9600X. Even the 5800X3D will beat it in quite a few games.

Pads, gloves and a helmet! We'd rather hear from ya, than about ya!
Moral of the story. Get a 12400 and a better GPU with the savings.
compare to 7600 non x, its a ripoff and they only added the x for pr, because you cant get more perf by increasing power (not enough to add the x and ask for more money anyway)
What a weird launch, reviews are all over the place, some called Zen 5 a bust/flop, others actually called it great/excellent.
PCWorld actually delayed its review of Ryzen 9000...
279$ is high price for 9700X !!!
and we talk about 6 cores 9600X ...
No it's not. It's beating CPU's that cost more, twice as much given the 14900k.
if price is your concern, buy a 5800x3d and be happy
HODL for their 9500f?
When 9500f will release, 7500f will cost 70$ and still be better
11 watt less then 7500f which are double cheaper
I wonder how OCable it is.
please watch vex's zen5 analysis video, I think its spot on and hits points others have not mentioned, such as new upsell tactics by limiting processor wattage.
so much people complaining about something they dont understand, or writing from their 14th gen intel cpus
people losing focus rigth now
I understand that you're an economics guy. But that's not why I come here. :) Cheers Brian!
6 cores 12 threads for a Ryzen 9! really???!!!! WTF planet they on?
So looks like some conservative voltage and power settings. I guess it's nice to see for those folks who don't want to do any voltage of tuning their own.
Just seems pointless for joe normie when X3D still exists.
Sorry but you can all have the latest greatest.
I refuse to pay full retail on any pc hardware.
I refuse to pay over 1000 bucks for a 1440p monitor or any other component that demands double the price it's worth.
I also refuse to pay close to retail for 2nd hand parts on marketplace, because they have only been used twice when they are 3 to 5 yo. These company's and market place sellers are kidding themselves and I'll stick with my 5 yo hardware and 1080p that does absolutely fine 👍
