Think it's pricing just will correct over time, maybe a year or so, could drop another 80/so. Some channels are saying PBO on, showing better gaming/productivity results on Linux, maybe Windows needs to update for 9000, more optimization. Glad you're okay though. X3D chip(s) next month should be exciting.

    • @45eno
      @45eno Месяц назад +12

Yeah that's what I was thinking when I saw the 9700X results. Why not let the 65watt part be the standard 9700 and make room for a toasty hot 9700X with 115watt. Weird, not super impressive results. Almost like a Zen to Zen+ jump. Maybe 10600X will be the real upgrade in IPC.

Seems okay with the pricing for launch too high. Over time it will go down but this is also an expensive 6core. Some channels suggest PBO enabled, Linux gaming/productivity results seem stronger too. Am thinking Windows might need to update for these to get better performance. Am thinking anyone with 5800X3D/12th gen/7000 series can likely hold off upgrading at least until X3D or R9s release, think those will be the performers. This might be a gen to sit out, well at least another month, see if those X3D deliver gaming performance.

i think the 9600x (or more likely its non x version) could age very well, especially as with the low stock heat output they’ll likely be reliable for ages. maybe wait for when the prices fall, especially with weak demand due to the global economy.

Good Job, Sir. - I like that you didn't neglect the amazing low power draw and cool running chip, as well as the performance gains from changing power limits and undervolting.
Gamers Nexus Hardware Unboxed and some other really failed in their reviews, being way too negative about these chips.
Question remains, who is the target audience for this chip, maybe SFF PC fans or people who just like lower temperatures with the option to "overclock" it.
Obviously these chips will have to be cheaper than the 9800X3d and 7800x3d (or those will have to be more expensive).

Interesting over representation of the games that depend on higher clock speed over cache or cores in your test. I mean most of the CPUs tested can literally fit the entire active CS2 files on their L3 cache eliminating any X3D cache advantage while highlighting X3D lower clock speeds. If you wanted to make X3D look bad the games you selected would be in the how to manual. How are you shocked when you know this is true? Most newer games are not going to show anything near this kind of behavior on a 7800X3, it will smack the piss out of the 9600X. Even the 5800X3D will beat it in quite a few games.

Without the helmet high % bet id not be here today. Always wear your helmet people. Hideous story of my sisters younger years, where someone got knocked of their bike right outside her school and then run over by a vehicle. Story goes her head exploding like a water melon,, ugh what a tragedy! My guess, you probably dont want that to happen., No amount of its not cool or helmets are lame ,matters when you are hitting the ground not wearing one.

The price hike indeed just AMD making bank as much as possible considering how weak Intel is at the moment, I just hope so we dont get stuck like we used to with the whole 4 core cpu era back over a decade ago. 9600x looks pretty neat, but the pricing is just terrible, and I don't see the X3D ones being cheap this time around, probably a move from AMD so they don't devalue their older AM5 CPUs.

Is there any reason why some models in this lineup of Granite Ridge AM5 CPUs (9600x, 9700x) are rated at 65 watts and their pervious ''X'' lineups that were rated at 105watts?

      Two possibilities:
      1) People are fed up with power hungry space heaters. (Including me)
      2) They maybe got the same degradation problems as Intel and run the chips pretty light to keep them stable over time.
Maybe a combination of both. We'll have to wait and see what happens when someone runs one overclocked for a while. Roman did a quick test for review and his chip easily pulled double the power with a significant thought not nearly double performance increase.

I refuse to pay full retail on any pc hardware.
I refuse to pay over 1000 bucks for a 1440p monitor or any other component that demands double the price it's worth.
I also refuse to pay close to retail for 2nd hand parts on marketplace, because they have only been used twice when they are 3 to 5 yo. These company's and market place sellers are kidding themselves and I'll stick with my 5 yo hardware and 1080p that does absolutely fine 👍
