No one is talking about the score for this movie. I love Blue Beetle's theme. Very Tron Daft Punk esk. Also, as a Latino. This movie made me cry so much throughout. Not just the emotional parts, but even during the fight scenes. Just seeing a badass Latino hero on the big screen kicking ass was very emotional for me. As a kid I was always drawing my own original Mexican superheroes and this is a dream come true. There were so many Latino culture jokes that made this feel special and made the movie felt like it was mine and made for me. I hope more people of my culture grab onto this and see that they paid respect to Latin culture in a loving way.

I was so pumped when they started playing ‘I ain’t going out like that’ by Cypress Hill in That fight scene where Blue Beetle was wrecking those guys.

A comment and a like for support.
I have nothing of substance to say as I have gotten off the super hero movie train after Avengers End-Game, now I just follow the evolution of this space by letting the Geek Buddies spoil everything for me. Support from Belgium!

I just got out of a very crowded and enthusiastic theatre audience for Blue Beetle. It was a blast! I loved hearing the reactions around me, especially the kids. Today was National Cinema Day. Therein lies a potential reason for the film’s (thus far) less than hoped for box office. It cost a great deal for movie tickets and concessions, way more for a family of two or three kids. Today’s discounted ticket price and snack combos made the film very accessible to audiences I don’t believe would have made it into the theater at full prices. Even for me, I have to really pick and choose where to spend my theater going dollars.

I enjoyed the movie. If you are a Latino you are going to love it all the jokes, make you cry. Don Francisco,el Chavo, Los tucanes de tijuana etc. are amazing.I would watch a HBO max show just focusing on the family specifically George Lopez.

Unfortunately this movie doesn't come out in NZ for another two weeks so I'm gonna save this discussion for a later date.

Shout out to my fellow Boriqua, Angel Manuel Soto, for really going for it.
From Calle 13 opening the movie, to the Don Q rum, to clearly El Morro in San Juan being the fortress at the end, to gentrification, the telenovela jokes that had an entire Queens theater laughing out loud, to the mention of School of the Americas that had a few of us audibly cringing in the theater, to the immigrant story, to Nana's history, to Vicks Vapor Rub, the pseudo-adoption of Jenny by the family (common in urban working class neighborhoods - and not in the Michael Oher way), to the big reveal of the indigenous origins of Carapax referencing the massacres of Mayans by the Guatemalan government in the '80s......there's so many layers to the onion.
And...the irony of Jaime's mother (actor) surviving the yautja (Predator) alien in the 80s? (So pissed I couldn't pinpoint her during the film, lol). We need more of the Reyes family & Jenny, and more work for Xolo and Bruna.

I LOVED this movie, as also a Latino many things in this film got me (although I'm Peruvian, I also grew up with El Chapulin Colorado, or being exposed to Telenovelas because my grandma and mom where watching them on TV and we would get all the Televisa and Brasilian ones in the 90's). The soundtrack was also amazing with all the songs, I did not expected to hear Soda Stereo on an American Film!. I truly hope this movie pulls an Elemental and does great on the box office and it brings this cast back for more.

This is why I hate cinema scores. My entire audience would have gave it an A score judging by our reaction but it doesn’t take all theaters account just a select few.

I really enjoyed it. Loved George López and Xolo is beyond charming and also 🔥🔥🔥😁😁😁 The second part when the action kicks in was the best. And needless to say all the Latino references which I grew up with really worked for me. The cherry in the Icecream...the last song from Soda Stereo "Nada personal"!❤❤❤👏👏👏

Just saw this on National Cinema Day and my wife and I loved the film. Generally agree with the thoughts you guys shared here. I will say I disagree with the comments around Jenny Kord/Bruna. I felt Bruna was quite good in the film and had great chemistry with Xolo. The relationship between the two of them gave me vibes of a better version of Toby and Kristen Dunst from Spiderman.

I have notice that new movies are coming out up to 3 to 4 weeks earlier before screening here in the southern hemisphere ie NEW ZEALAND and AUSTRALIA. I am waiting for Blue Beetle to arrive in September 14th, followed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle , Equalizer 3 and The Creator. a busy September 2023.

Feels like a classic cbm of the early 2000’s especially with that ending joke. Gave me Spider-Man Sam raimi vibes. More I think on his film more I enjoy it.

I absolutely loved this movie and cried multiple times. The one thing that I don't understand is the opening scene where they're cutting into the giant thing to get the scarab. I thought Ted had the scarab for years, so how did it end up in the giant sphere thing?

Dear john. My biggest giggle in the movie was this, plot hole? Idk lol so Sanchez is guarding the beetle and then leaves that room. Jenny swipes his badge to get into the room? Steals the beetle n leaves. Moments later sanchez returns to eat his burger and notices the beetle missing. How did he get in? Lol i found that very strange his card was missing and yet he returnes. Or was that jennys card? I wasnt to clear because she bumps into him n then reveals the swipe card. So i assumed she took his? So many questions lol

Look, you're not wrong. Haha! I had the exact same thought when I was watching the film. Surely, Dr. "Sanchez" would notice his key card missing and wouldn't be able to get in the room. But the film overcomes any of those small issues for me..

    • @llewellynpriest6840
      @llewellynpriest6840 Год назад +1

@JohnRochaSays I agree. The small stuff I overlook in most movies. It's the bigger plot points or characters I focus on. The fact that my wife also started crying when the family hugs and grandma says "okay family, now it's time to cry!" Got us both. So those larger points very much work which is what matters =)

Hey guys, apart from the representation, which I think was really excellent, this movie really didn't land for me.
I've been wondering why for a day now and think it boils down to not getting the WHY Jaime was chosen. What made him so special out of everyone else. And without that why, for me, this turned into a generic movie with our hero not really deserving that suit..
    But that's just me.
I'm so happy that y'all liked it and we're charmed by it.
Perhaps I'll get my answers in BB2...
