K classes were built by Billington as a mixed goods locomotive. He'd seen the moguls and their performance on the GWR and decided to build his own. They were highly successful and the crews found them easy to work with. Their acceleration was impressive and could do a good turn on passenger trains too. The Bluebell did try to save one but their money was tied up buying the line and stations from BR.
The 1 in 77 gradient of the Incombe Bank is a pain. The top is literally the level crossing coming into Thenhill. Best thing is to set the reverser and regulator and let the engine storm the bank with all that it has. Set the fireman and let it go. Another trick as well-make sure it's a straight shot through. Any divergence or crossovers forcing you to slow will stick you on that hill (Personal experience there where I managed to stick a 782 with eight wagons after crossing to the lefthand platform at Inchcombe.) Another thing is...use the momentum build up. The wagons will hang back and drag you to a stand. If you have speed up first, then boom, you can go. The only time I recommend slowing yourself down is when your crossing onto the branch from the main line.

oh cheers, thanks for advice :)
I'm really hoping the next Brighton locomotive to get into Train Simulator will either be the Stroudly E1's or the Billington Baltic L Tanks
oooooo 😍
Funny (ish) thing, Caledonia works are currently working on the Baltic L tank engines.
I know I’ve seen them being built and they look magnificent
